View Full Version : Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twist and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a person turns about
When they have won had they stuck it out.
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow-
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the struggler has given up when he might
Have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out-
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things seem worse that you must not quit.

Several years ago I participated in a WeightWatchers at Work program and one of the leaders brought this poem to read to us becasue many of us were past the "honeymoon phase" and rapidly falling into a "lose half, gain half" lethargy.

The poem really sparked something in me and got me back on track. (At least until I got pregnant and had to stop attending WW meetings.) Oops!

Anyway, to this day, I can hear that leader's voie saying to us, "Don't you give up!"

Wow, that's really neat! I found it in a real estate book I was having to study. I thought it was great motivation!

I have that exact poem in a frame that I got from a friend years ago when I was going through some rough times. The words are very true and it is something that to this day I look at when I feel the blahs coming on.

Kate,

Thanks for the inspiring poem. My Mom gave me this very poem on a card when I graduated from High School, it made me cry (tears of joy of course)! Reading it here now brought back that special moment. *sniff*

God bless :)
