I just went to the bank and deposited money. I don't know what I was thinking, but I wrote out the deposit slip for $120 and gave the man $220! I realized my misatke as soon as I got home, and called the bank. The man says I only gave him $120- I am furious! With myself and the teller. Money is so tight for us right now and we are saving for that Disney vacation- Whenever I called and spoke with the manager, she even said that the teller said I was in the negative and he told me this! That was a lie and I told her he never said anything to me, except "Have a nice day." I am so mad I can't stop crying- Why would he do this? How could I be so stupid! I purposely deposited that money to avoid being in the negative! How can some people sleep at night?

The tellers have to "settle up" at the end of each day. If he is $100 over, he should know that the money belongs to you. I hope that if this is the case, he will call you tomorrow and let you know that he has your money. Good luck! I hope you get your money back.

I'm so sorry Geriann. :comfort: I hope that the teller shows an overage in his account. If he does not, I would lodge a complaint with the bank. Whenever I deposit cash at my bank, the teller always counts it out in front of me. If this was done, the teller should've seen the discrepancy on your deposit slip.

I hope you get your money back.

The manager said his drawer came out even- so you know what that means. I had alot on my mind and I did hold out the bills infront of him. There were 4 50's and a twenty. I have to work the next two days, but first thing Thursday morning,I am going to the manager. I just don't know how I could be so preoccupied! :duh: Thank you all for caring. Would filing a complaint do me any good? I am definitely closing my account with them asap- I am going to another bank. I just hate this. :stomp: :frazzled:

Hi Geni. I'm sorry you had a dishonest teller. Honestly, I dont think filing a complaint will do you much good...but, maybe it will be on his record in case somebody else has the same complaint. The problem is that there is no proof....its your word against his. I would let the manager know exactly why you are closing your account. I would tell them that you are concerned about your money as they have dishonest people on staff.

I believe that what goes around comes around. He may think he has gotten ahead by $100.00, but he will lose that, and maybe more, in the future.

Where one of my neighbors works they have cameras on each of the tellers for this reason...Ask the bank about the security systems...I'm sorry this happened and let us know what the outcome is!

Great suggestion, immabluefish. The cameras should be positioned so that each customer is photographed as they complete their transaction. If there was a camera trained on you, geniann, it might have picked up the individual bills as you held them out. Please call the manager and ask that these tapes be reviewed, preferably in your presence.

Thank you guys so much! That is a GREAT idea :brightide I sure will call there first thing in the morning and ask to see the tapes Thursday when I go to the bank. I sure hope this guy gets what he deserves- I know he will in the long run- but I sure hope to do it on Thursday. I have been so upset all day and now I see a glimmer of hope. Thank you all- I will let you know how it all turns out. :thankyou:

I am so sorry this happened to you. Your complaint might not help you, but might help somebody else in the future. I too believe, what goes around comes around.

At the credit union where my husband & I have checking & savings account we get a copy of the transactions & we have to sign the transactions slip. Once the transctions are completed we get the copy of the slip? Does your bank have this safe guard in place?

Keeping you in my *pray*ers

Well it looks like this is going nowhere for me. I called the main office and they said " we will have to get back to you. we are not sure if the tapes will reflect anything." I can't believe this guy. I went in the other day and he quickly left the room! I don't want to change banks because I have been with them for while, and they do have the only unsecured overdraft protection in the area. I guess the teller knew the taps would catch him and he knew how to avoid them. I am still waiting for that "return call". I know he will get what is coming to him- but it still hurts.

I called the main office and they said " we will have to get back to you. we are not sure if the tapes will reflect anything."

Call the main office and tell them you are still waiting to hear from them. Don't let them say they've reviewed the tapes and they show nothing. Tell them you want to view the tapes yourself. In my bank there is more than one camera trained on the counter, so there may be more than one view of your transaction caught on tape.

I hope everything turned out okay for you!

If they did review the tapes, they probably won't show the denominations. The cameras are aimed mostly to get a good view of the customer in the event of a robbery and also to get a good view of the teller's drawer.

The worst thing is that this guy got $100 dishonestly, but you can be sure that he won't be there long. Dishonest tellers eventually get caught.

For all seasons,
Linzi

Just wondering what the outcome of this was. Hopefully, he got what was coming to him. Just the fact that you asked them to review the tapes should have placed suspicion on him. I hope it worked out in your favor.

Well needless to say, life got in the way and I soon had other priorities that put that on the back burner. I guess I learned my lesson. I never did get that "return call". But you want to know something amazing- that bank got ROBBED a month ago!!! *omg* How is that for karma?!!!! I have not seen that teller lately but I rarely go in now. I really appreciate everyones concern- :thankyou:
