I love movies whether it is in a theatre or on my TV at home. Normally I don't go to the theatre...and while I don't watch tons of movies, I do have my favorites.
My favorites:
Wizard of Oz - There is no place like home! There's no place like home. Besides, I love red ...so the ruby slippers are a favorite prop of mine.
Signs - Love Mel Gibson. Love the aluminum head covering...and love the notion that even our afflictions are for a particular reason....
You've Got Mail - I love Chick Flicks. This one is my favorite. Its Tom Hanks. Its Meg Ryan. Its a perfect blend of 21st century technology and old fashioned romance.
Lion, Witch and Wardrobe - I've only seen it once but would love to see it again and again. Great book. Great movie. One of my alumni students works for Sony Imageworks in animation....
Forest Gump - Anything is possible. Destiny. Life is like a box of chocolates. The key...is opening the box and trying some of those bon bons!
What about you? What are your favorite five?

FIve favorites? I don't have five favorites. Right now I'm doing good to come up with three. Is that okay? I don't watch many movies either, and I'm incredibly picky and particular. ;)
Top of the list right now is Phantom of the Opera. It's dark, mysterious, romantic and full of beautiful music, costumes, sets and people. Kelsey and I watch this movie together and replay scenes over and over. Can't help but sing along.... We're in agreement, though, that the movie should have ended at the point where Christine kisses the Phantom as Raoul looks on, tied up with rope to a gate. <insert evil laugh here>
Another favorite, which was my #1 favorite until Phantom came along, is Beauty and the Beast. It is much like Phantom in premise. The story is touching and also full of humor and love. So, old lady or not, I love this movie!
The third movie I enjoy is The Thorn Birds. Wow. Love, lust, forbidden love, power, mind games, spectacular scenery--this one has it all! I read the book ages ago and was thrilled that it was made into a mini-series.
I'll have to think about this some more. One would think I could come up with another two movies!

Educating Rita (I love Michael Caine!)
Annie Hall (Woody Allen's Oscar Winner)
The Graduate (I can almost recite the script by heart!)
Heartburn (Streep, Nicholson...need I say more?)
and...like almost everyone else:
The Wizard of Oz

I don't go to the theatre much either. We usually wait until it comes out on DVD if there is something that peaks our interest. I usually prefer the older movies.
Five faves are as follows:
1)Gone With the Wind: I love the old south costumes. I get absorbed in the costumes and the times and can picture myself as Scarlett "I will think about it tomorrow". "Fiddle de dee" :D I literally sob thru the ending every time! I so want Scarlett to wake up and for Rhett to realize that their love is meant to be.
2)Forrest Gump: Run Forrest Run! I cry at the ending of this one too. Tom Hanks is such a great actor!
3)Miracle on 34th Street (the original): Is there anything more enchanting than watching Natalie Wood running up to the house at the end and realizing there really is a Santa Claus? And is there anything funnier than watching Kris klunk the store psyche doc on the head.
4)The Lion King: Ahhh..the circle of life. I just love this movie. The music and story line is just wonderful. I recently bought the original Bambi and realized that the Lion King is really a remake of Bambi.
5)It's A Wonderful Life: Who doesn't love Jimmy Stewart? A wonderful story of how our life is often not as bad as we think it is. When one has friends and family our lives are enriched. One doesn't have to have a million dollars to be rich.
Well, I like going to the movies. Here are my favorites:
1. You've Got Mail
2. Finding Forrester
3. Seven Bridges for Seven Brothers
4. Legally Blonde
5. Parent Trap (the original)
Jeanus....Blazing Saddles? That's greatness!

Simon Birch... he was so sure that God had a special purpose for him :)
Ghost... because you take the love with you.
Michael... everyone should believe in angels.
Pay It Foward... very inspirational.
Does a mini-series count? I love James Michener's Centennial, and actually missed the characters when the story ended.
