Here's what they said they would be singing tonight, on the radio:

Paris: "Kiss" by Prince and "Be Without You" by Mary J. Blige

Katherine: "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins and "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall

Chris: "Renegade" by Styx and "I Dare You" by Shinedown

Elliott: "On Broadway" by George Benson and "Home" by Michael Buble (I'm a huge Michael Buble fan. He better do that song justice )

Taylor: "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry and "Something" by the Beatles.

Should be good!

Cindy, Thank-you for starting this week's Idol thread for me. I haven't heard of some of these songs but am looking forward to Taylor's rendition of "Funky Music." I LOVE that song. LOL!

Elliot has sung a lot of my favorite songs and he has yet to disappoint me. I can't wait to hear him sing Home!

I had initially heard that the song lists given on the radio were just a rumor, but than it was reported that Ryan Seacrest stated the list on his radio show, so it appears that the list may very well be correct.

Unless they make Taylor change again. ;) I'm not sure that would be a bad thing. I don't know what I think of his first song choice. My fingers are crossed though!

I am glad that AI has gotten to the point where they get to sing two songs... it is starting to REALLY heat up! YEAH!

Here I am with another week of song by song and judge by judge comments. hehe.

First song from the year they were born:

Elliott: year is 1978 and sings....On Broadway.....

He starts singing and sounds okay but sounds sharp to me. A bit pitchy. I like his rendition. Its unique and a bit edgy. He is high energy to start the show. Good job Elliott.

Randy: yo yo, elliott, sounded a little rough to me but by end of the song you got it together.
Paula: I agree with Randy, good vibratto at the end
Simon: I don't think that was your best performance...you are very lucky you have two songs tonight.

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:11 PM
Paris: Prince's Kiss year is 1988

She starts out sooo cute. She has a great attitude. Enjoying this walking on the catwalk in front of stage. Red heels. Very entertaining.

Randy: Nice to see you having a lot of fun. I liked it.
Paula: The whole country knows you can sing your butt off but I like the older songs.
SImon: screechy and annoying...

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:14 PM
Chris: 1979 Renagade

Sedated and with creepy lighting on his face. Picks up and he grabs the microphone and runs around the stage and into audience. Lights flashing. I'm not fond of this....but I'm sure the rockers love it. ;)

Randy: America we have a real show tonight.
Paula: Outstanding...far apart from anyone else
Simon: That was a million times better than the other two performances

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:22 PM
Katharine: year is 1984 Take a Look at Me Now

I love Katharine and the camera loves her too....its good...but not her best IMO.

Randy: You look amazing, the key wasn't right for you, it got okay at the end. THought the key too low.

Paula: Not my favorite performance from you

Simon: Tonight in part it was a mess, I agree with Paula and Randy. Not your best and you are lucky girl you have a second song.

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:26 PM
Taylor is 1976 Play that Funky Music

I love to watch him dance...this was a great song for him. He gets to dance while he sings....it would be perfect if he would pull out the harmonica... hehe

Randy: laughing..you had a good time. That was a hard choice for me.
Paula: You dressed the part and had fun. This is the authentic Taylor.
Simon: To me this is like a horrible, horrible wedding performance. I liked the end.

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:34 PM
This years billboard charts:

Elliott: Home

Okie, I don't know this song...and its pretty lackluster to me. Anyone else have input on this one? Kinda slept through it.

Randy: You know what I liked, nice choice.
Paula: We got to hear and feel the richness of your voice
Simon: I'm not sure I would ahve chosen lyrics "I want to go home" not sure it has enough hook memory factor...I'm a little bit concerned.

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:38 PM
Paris:

Hmm...it was okay for me.

Randy: Definitely taking a risk, a few pitchy things. I liked it
Paula: Hard to catch it but hoped you would catch a Paris flip on it
SImon: I thought she did rather well

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:45 PM
Chris: I dare you

Randy: I can already tell that your voice is giving out. Not my favorite.
Paula: I love ya.
Simon:Woopee. Not a great song. Your voice really sounded like it was giving out. Better watch that

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:48 PM
Katharine:

I don't know this song...but I like it. on stage with some percussionists...fun stuff...I like this one.

Randy: This is a wild show tonight. That's the Katharine that I love.
Paula: The stage was great.
Simon: This is a strange show. It was a good choice of song. It was younger. it had personality.

Kathy
05-02-2006, 06:55 PM
Taylor: Something (Beatles)

Its good to hear him slow it down...and its a good song for him.

Randy: Wow, he's the cool part. You chose a good song. It was good to hear.

Paula: It was a good tender song

Simon: Its very easy to forget with your other balminess that you are a very good singer.

I enjoyed tonight but I would have to say either Paris or Elliot are going home tomorrow. I loved Chris's first song and Katharine and Taylor's second song. I really like Paris and Elliot but I dont think they were as good as the other three...

i thought and still do that paris will be next...not that the girl can't sing, cuz oh my, she sure can, but maybe america finds her weird?

ps. love the guys...all of them. i'd love to adopt them. they'd fit in great with my three sons...the drummer, the bass player and guitar player. guess i have a soft spot.

my kids did not like katharines kt tunstall song. i guess i didn't either, but then i love ms tunstall...

I just love Taylor. Both dh and I were laughing, clapping and tapping our toes while he was singing. Isn't that what it is about?

I used to like Chris, but think he is starting to sound the same on every song. Yes, he can rock, but I don't like every song to sound exactly the same.

I was disappointed with Kat on her first song. But at least she admitted it. I thought she did great on the second song! Go Kat!

Go Taylor! :cheerlead Go Kat :cheerlead Go Elliot :cheerlead Go HOME Paris!

I really liked Katharine's straight hair tonight. It looked much less boring than her previous style. I have always enjoyed looking at her pretty Valerie Bertinelli/Linda Ronstadt face. She seems to be "grooving in the limelight" and holding her own in the competition. ;)

It seems to me like the performers who remain are on nearly "equal footing" in terms of the "talent level" of their performances. They all seem to have their high points and their lows. From this point forward, if no one "chokes" or suddenly "fades in the stretch" due to nerves or other circumstances, (like Kellie did) perhaps it will all come down to "personal preferences" on the part of the voting public.

I heard sharp notes and odd song choices from all of them tonight... I agree with Carmen, unless someone chokes (or does outstanding) I think it will come down indvidual preference and song choice.

You know whats funny... Chris' song... sounded better then the actual signer can do it!!!! I didn't like Katharines verison of Black Horse... I don't like Paris but she wasn't too bad with Mary's song. I want Paris to go home.

Kathy... any reason why you didn't comment on Chris' second song?? :) :)

Oh yeah... Kathy I really recommend you dl or listen to some of Michael Buble's stuff especially the song Elliot sang... Home!! MAN!!! That guy is amazing....

Well, my fav tonight was Taylor as always........I grooved to his first song. He is just the most genuine guy around. Everyone else did as the judges said.....one good song and one not so good. I really wanted Elliot to sing "Home" a bit better but in no way does he compare to Micheal Buble and his first song sounded strained so in my opinion Elliot goes home. I thought he was the only one tonight with 2 not so good performances.

Here I go:

Elliott - I liked "On Broadway", but his pitch was off at first. Liked the second song too.

Paris - Thought she did a good job tonight. I love the song "Kiss" and She showed a cute personality. She sounded a lot like Mary on the second one. I still think she might be the one going home tonight though.

Chris - I LOVED "Renegade". Love the song, and he did great. HATED the second song and the singing.

Kat - Wasn't fond of the first song, even though she did pretty good. LOVED Black Horse. I've been hearing that song on a TV commercial and didn't realize that was it. She showed some personality and sounded great.

Taylor, He sang two favorite songs. I had a grin on my face all the way through "Play that Funky Music", and he sounded very good on the second.

I have to agree. I think it's getting down to personal preference now. Unless someone really messes up.

Did you all hear Randy say, "I think we need a Beatles' night" :woohoo2:

Loved Katherine singing Black Horse...was as good as KTs version....and I liked her attitued...relaxed and having fun.
Loved Taylor singing Something....kind of a Ray Charles voice...and he seemed so relaxed and just let the song come through.
I am a major Chris fan, but I'd like to see him really show his vocals. He could win this if he shows off his voice a little better.

Paris has a great voice, but she just doesnt click with me. Same with Elliott...great voice, just not my taste. I wouldnt mind if these two were in the bottom tonight.

Rhonda, Right now according to zabasearch, you may get your wish with Paris going home tonight. But they are very close in the least amount of votes so Elliot could leave instead. Dialidol also has Paris leaving right now. I will check later on for further updates.

My vote is for Taylor to go home. I'm sorry, but he is just way to corny for me! To me, he is like a Disney performer.

I liked Elliot's stuff. Bumble songs are great. And as CRUNCHIES said, download his stuff. It's great. He held my attention. Kat's second song was awesome. First one was a little rocky. Chris, I love his voice and thought both were great. Paris, I think she did good. She's a bundle of joy, that's for sure.

It will be interesting to see who does go home tonight!

well at least most of us agree that Paris should be in the bottom two. I like Taylor but I wouldn't buy his cd. not my kind of music. He really does remind me of a wedding singer. Hes 30...I thought the cut off age was 27-28.. guess I was wrong.
