I was wondering how many people set aside time each day for family or couple devotions. Our family does this before bed time each night. It is nice to focus on God's Word and praying just before going to bed. It also makes for some wonderful family time.

We make time for prayer and a scripture reading each morning before we go our seperate ways. It gives us something to think about during the day and evolves into a conversation over dinner most nights. If we skip it, I really feel disconnected. :)

No, we do not do this, although my ds and I do say prayers before bed.

My dh has surprised me by being part of a "loose" early-morning Bible study group at our church (well, it's about 10% Bible study and about 90% breakfast and chatter, but it's better than nothing). And we attend church every week. But I don't think he'd get into a daily devotional.

Our family devotional time is right before going to bed, we either read a couple of scriptures (our choice) or either we read a bible story followed by a special prayer. It is a peaceful and wonderful way to share God's word with each other.

So, as I am related to the person who posted this thread, I do do daily devotions at home. At school, I go to a Christian University so I have many opportunities for different things. Here my family is the people around me. My "family devotions" are going to evening prayer or morning Chapel. Also last school year I would go to morning prayer (which is before morning Chapel) on occasion. As an RA at my school I tried to start Sunday night devotions, but unfortunately it did not work. Though as an RA I do things for my hall "family" by putting up a prayer wall and sending out the requests and words of encouragement from the Bible once a week.

We do really well for several days, then something willl totally disrupt our schedule! We do attend church several times a week and my husband and I use a daily bible. Our boys have been assigned several books of the bible to read (by their Sunday School teacher) and they do really well reading in the morning before they start school work. This is something we have to work on this year!

When I was younger, we use to do family devotions before bedtime. Dad would read some story from a kids devotion book or we'd listen to these tapes called "Odessey." They were really great tapes! It was like listening to a tv show. :)

I don't have a family or kids yet, but will do a family devotion. I learned a lot as a kid and gained a great foundation as a result!

I pray for all loved ones & thank God for all my blessings each night when I go to sleep. I've been doing it since I was a child, so it's become a nightly ritual or habit.

Kate,

Those "Odyssey" tapes ARE good! We also do a devotion every morning during breakfast. It's amazing how we'll have the perfect devotion, at times, that applies to what may be going on in my kids' or my life. So cool! And for THEM to see that happen is even better. :)

Good night all!

With my family, we keep saying we are going to start doing one, but we haven't yet. I bought a "God and Me" devotional that my daughter and I could do together. We did the younger version a couple of years ago and it was cute. I just feel like we're always so rushed. We need to stop that, though, and make the time.
We used to go to church every week, but we've been struggling lately. And we go on Wednesday nights... my DH and I help out and DD goes to her own little class. But we want more of God in our lives than that.
I'm sure many of you know what I mean. :)
