Okay, so Gherra is home and doing much better since his stay at the vet. Nermal & him have been so loving and sweet.

Then Nermal snuck outside and we found her the next morning with another cat. She had been in heat but hadn't been acting like she was for over a week, however, I'm pretty sure they had more fun that night than I did.

Since then Gherra hasn't been loving on her or showing her any attention. I know he knows and his little heart is broken.

He has been extra lovey on me, like he's looking for comfort.

Nermal on the other hand is acting like nothing happened. She's clueless, in her own little world as usual.

Is this what its like to have human children, not having any control over their relationships and hurting when they do?

I know someone is going to tell me to get a life and not worry so much about them, but you know, they were so cute and so affectionate. They are my children and I'm worried. They used to play hard to get with each other and show off for each other. Now nothing.

I am the last one to tell you not to worry... I hate it when my fur babies start acting goofy too. They will eventually eventually make up... they are first loves after all... but in the mean time it will be kind of weird around the house.

ARGGH 4-legged kids!

I am not going to tell you to get a life because I have a human child and I have a fur-baby...I love them both very much.
Yes, you do not have control over their relationships and when life crashes around them due to that relationship (whether your human child is 6, 16, 26 or 36) you can only hurt with them. There is nothing you could have done to have prevented it.
They will both get over it...small head, small brain...and will be best of buds again in no time.
Give them both lots of love

Good News!

Yesturday I came home at lunchtime to see DH. We were sitting on the couch having lunch. Nermal was sitting in the living room window. Gherra jumped up next to her and kissed her. Then they both jumped down together and went into DH's office.

Last night they were affectionate too. They are not back to normal, but they are getting there!

I am so happy his little heart is healing!

Gherra is doing better but now his fur is turning gray! Right behind his ears and on the side of his neck.

I keep forgettting to call the vet b/c I'm at work when they are open.

I will one of these days and pray it's not something very serious.

Anyone ever have their pet's hair turn gray? He's only 5 years old!

I remembered to call the vet ... he said that some animals do and some don't ... it's just like people ... try explaining that to him ... we are always calling him the wise old man & he thinks we've turned him into an old man! He wants to be called the King (he saw something on animal planet about lions and their prides). He was very specific not after Richard Petty but like a lion. What a character!

MJ,
Your vet sounds like one of our old vets... he was a country vet and he had great common sense. I loved him and was so sad when he retired. I hope all the four-legged kids are doing great!

Love,
Anna

They are. Katey has been exceptionally helpful lately. Extra loving when we are sick and she even woke DH up last night to tell him I was sick.

Gherra is depressed he's looking older, but other than that he's fine.

Nermal has been nesting. She's pregnant and has been laying around gestating.

Sweet Pea is the queen and the tattle tale. She knows what's going on all over the house and makes sure she doesn't get in trouble for Katey going thru the trash, Gherra moving blankets (he pulls them from room to room!) or Nermal destroying the toilet paper roll.

We are one big happy family, doing pretty good.
