I have never been the type of person who "fusses" in the morning (with the exception of my hair looking decent). I go through stages where I use makeup, but they are usually short-lived. First of all, I rub my eyes way too much (ack -- the mascara!!). And the feeling of lipstick....... ewww.

I'm just hoping I'm not alone in my aversion to "primping".

While I do wear makeup, I don't do alot of fussing. I get up around 4:15-4:30am and am out the door by 5! I've never been one to stand in front of the mirror for hours, I know what I need to do and do it and that's that, I'm done. If it's not just right, too bad. ;) So yeah, I don't like to fuss over myself. I just hope that I look okay before I head out the door.

I don't use a lot of makeup ( except for recitals or dance performances - even then , less than my director would like ). I fuss as little as possible with my hair too. I'm not very talented with hair at any rate :D)

I hold the current World Record of going from "out of the shower" to fully dressed, made-up, perfumed, hair-sprayed and gorgeous :D <where is a ROFLOL smilie when I need it?> in fifteen minutes.[

How in the world can I do it, do you wonder? Simple answer: decades of experience, and a life-long habit of getting up in the morning as late as possible, and still managing to be where I am supposed to be "looking alive," on time!

I get tired of putting on make-up and doing my hair. I still do it, but I have days where I protest. Those days I try to stay indoors though. Guys have it lucky in that department. They can get up, take a shower, get dressed and walk out the door in 5 minutes. Luckily my hair doesn't take that long to blow dry and style. I feel bad for the women who spend 30 minutes on their hair. OUCH!

I hate fussing with my appearance. I only apply make-up if I'm going out in public (I'm a stay-at-home mom so this isn't an every-day occurence). My hair is wash-and-go.....currently it's half-way down my back as I haven't bothered to make the time to get it cut in about 2 1/2 years......

It takes me 5 minutes to put makeup on and it doesn't matter wheter I'm going to the grocery or the opera.

I agree that guys have it easy! I don't like putting on makeup, but I wear makeup to work. I have learned that if I want to appear "sick" at work all I need to do is go in without any makeup... I'm not crazy about the message that sends.

I am one of the people that put on their makeup while stopped at stop lights. Since I have a commute, I am easily done before I get to work.

On the weekends I am glad that I don't mess much with my appearance.

There are two areas about my appearane that I do fuss over. One is keeping my toe nails painted. Our weather is pretty warm here in Texas and having pretty toes makes me happy. Luckily I enjoy giving myself pedicures and they last a while. The other thing I enjoy is picking out earrings each morning. Since I make earrings I have quite a collection to chose from, and I just don't feel dressed in the morning unless I have some cool earrings on.

Me eithier{{{ MJ}}}, as long as my hair is decent and I am dress neatly(clean). I tried wearing makeup when I was a teenager, it didn't work out . The lipstick and even lipgloss made my lips swell up! If I would put on make-up my face would burn and itch:(.. So I have never tried wearing it again!

I do not feel it necessary to fuss a lot over looks. As I go to a smaller university it is common to see people walking around in pijama pants (what?!), so I am better than that, I like to dress nicely and I do like to dress up, but I do not like to fuss over my appearance. If it is uncomfortable or not modest enough for me I will not wear it. And when it comes to make up, I just wear a little, to cover the occasional spot on my face and it takes all of 1 minute to apply. About once a week I might actually take the time to style my hair, though most mornings I just put it in a pony tail or blow dry it without extra gels or anything.

because I HAVE none! LOL!

And you are most definitely not alone in the primping aversion club. My morning routine consists of a quick shower, towel-drying my hair, running a hair pick (artifact of my last perm, circa 1990) through it, touseling with my fingers and a bit of gel stuff my hairdresser gave me, getting dressed, and that's about it. I spent MUCH more time getting the boys ready to go to school and daycare and setting up the kitchen for the puppy (currently doing very well with paper and outside training but still too young to have much control) while DH and I are at work.

And my clothing? All I'll say is that Stacy and Clinton would either be rolling in the aisles or recoiling in horror at the contents of my closet. :D

You'd THINK that, anyway. My DH takes longer to brush his hair and shave in the morning than he does to shower and get dressed. And his hair is almost "military cut" short. It's thick and has body but is nowhere NEAR long enough to do anything other than what it does. And HE complains all the time to me about how difficult his hair is to manage and get to look decent. I've tried, but can't figure out whether he's kidding or not.

I'd be glad to have his hair for a day if I could give him mine for the day. My hair is medium-length, VERY thick, wavy, and has a mind of its own. LOL!

While that holds true for my husband, it doesn't for his Uncle Pete. LOL Uncle Pete takes over an hour once he's out of the :shower: Not sure what he's doing in there as he has very little hair, but he loves to primp. :D Shhh....don't let him know that I told.

My dad is the same way! It's so bad that he gets up at 4:30 in the morning to be ready to leave for work at 6:15!! He has virtually no hair, but each of the strands that are left had better stay in place----they're plastered to his head to stay put. My kids delight in reaching up and messing up his hair (even more fun due to the fact he does the "comb-over" with those few strands, so they're *really* long!).

I don't fuss much on work days, basically moisturiser, sunscreen, a dusting of powder foundation and a lippie, I never go without earrings though, can't sleep in them so I need to put them back on each morning. As for the hair my current style can be wash and wear or occassionally I blow dry and straight iron. I'm envious of DH , he never gets ready until I'm all done and he's ready in 5 minutes grrrrrr

I'm with you, MJ! I hate taking time just for appearance! I like a quick hairstyle and unwrinkled clothes! Then off I go! (If you would do my ironing I would have twice the waredrobe and look twice as good with no effort on my part! )

I am the same way with my toes. Someone wearing sandals with non-painted toes is a huge pet peeve for me!!

For me it depends on the day wether or not I want to look nice or not. If i decide not to, it will take maybe 45 min.

I rarely wear much makeup. I do use Revlon skin brightener in a pink tone to even out my skin tone, and for the UV protection. I refer to my "look" as Wash and Wear!! :p

I don't mess with my hair. Just put it up in a pony tail. Don't wear much makeup either. I only time I get myself all dolled up....is if it is a important occassion.

I am a pretty "natural" woman myself. I RARELY wear any make up besides blush, lipgloss, and mascara (I do need eyes). I love my jeans and my comfy old college sweatshirt or a great casual sweater with a t-shirt.
Don't get me wrong, when the occasion calls for it I can dress & put "face" on so I look spectacular, but for everyday I want to look like I look!

Out with the Tammy Faye Baker look for me! ;)

The only makeup I wear is lip gloss. I'm not the fussy type but i have a growing collection(60 in all ) of lipglass. I just can't seem to own enough. I think it has turnes into a weird obssesion, But I love the stuff.

I don't like to spend hours in front of the mirror applying make-up. My routine is simple & quick. Once I'm out of the shower I apply my make-up while my hair is still in a ponytail, a touch of blush, eyeliner, mascara & lipliner/lipstick. That's it for every day. For special occasions I add foundation & eyeshadow. I wash & style my hair at night & just do the finishing touches in the morning. If I'm staying home I'll be in a ponytail with no make-up except for my eyeliner & lipgloss which I can't live without! I believe in the saying that "less is more"! :)

I hate to fuss over hair and make up in the morning! I often wash my hair at night and touch it up in the AM. Often it will go in a ponytail. (This is why I can't have short hair... I tried it and it was a mess!) I need make up. The older I get the more I need. But I wear as little as possible.

I am with you! I only apply some eyeliner and mascara for special events. Chapstick is the only thing that goes on these lips. I brush my hair sometimes put a clip in it and I'm ready to go! Guys are only lucky in that they don't care. Though there are more and more guys who spend more time and money on products than I do nowadays.

Being in the beauty industry means a huge focus on hair and makeup primping. So my usual routine is eyeliner, mascara, sometimes powder, blush lipliner and lipstick. Even then between hair and make up I was done in 20 minutes to half hour.

Since I have been out on disability I have gone back to the natural look. Rarely do I fuss with my hair, and only occasionaly do I put on eyeliner and blush.

I love it!!!:yahooo:

I don't fuss! I have short hair and that is the thing I want to spend the very least time on! I rarely wear make-up but I am reaching an age where I find I should do it a little more often than I do *sigh* Solution: Baseball cap :) But, when I do put on make-up, it takes me a very long timne to put on a little bit because I not very practiced! However, in direct contradiction to my lack of fussiness, I like nice products! Maybe I think if I spend more ont he products, I can spend less time on the primping?!?! LOL

The only time I wear makeup anymore is for special occasions. In my line of work as a chef, it just doesn't make sense to wear it when it will just melt off in moments. As for hair, I wear a hat all day, so any styling is negated. I have such a hard time explaining this when I go and get my hair cut. Stylists just don't understand that not all women fuss with their hair!

I do admit I have a thing for lipgloss, though...

I don't like spending a lot of time 'getting ready' in the mornings. During the winter, I usually shower and wash my hair at night. My hair is long and straight and I don't usually blow dry it.
I get up at 5:10 AM and leave for work at 5:40. I do not apply any make up. No liner or lipgloss. NO PERFUME. As far as I am concerned, I was hired for my abilities, not my looks and I am not competing in a beauty contest so it shouldn't matter if I have makeup on or not. It's pretty much what you see is what you get.
I have 5 pairs of dress pants that are dutifully washed each week, along with the matching socks. I spend my at home time in flannel PJ pants or sweats. Hair is usually in a ponytail.

I agree with Spasmo - I don't care for naked toes.

Great thread... I love to look polished but hate to "fuss". I think the greatest gift I ever gave myself was to get permanent eye liner. It took 2 sessions to do the tatoos. Hurt like heck and worth every ouch. I wake up with perfect eye liner. I LOVE how it looks. I also had my eyebrows done. I lost all of my body hair due to chemo. My eyebrows never came back. So now I have gorgous eyes and brows all the time. Don't be afraid to look into this option. The pain was definitely worth it.... cheers to all..

I spend about 20 minutes each day getting ready for work, but do not fuss as much as most others that I work with. I love having more time on days off to do a little extra without having to look at the clock all the time. I try to have a fussfree day at least once a week with no makeup to let myself breathe, but always wear at least mascara when I leave the house. I'm hoping to age into a natural beauty like my mom (who just turned 80), wears no makeup and can whip her hair into shape in less than a minute! Now that's someone to emulate!

I am lucky I have very straight hair and my stylist has worked with me to get the perfect cut... I get up shower every morning (use conditionor ) dry off comb the hair (wear it parted on the side) and let it dry naturally longest part of my morning routine is the shower... get dressed and go down and take my meidcations and vitimins... then go preheat the car if need be adn wait for my hubby to get ready ....

He shaves before the shower he takes 15 min longer than I do to get ready I try to get us up abou t6 soe we have time to get on the road by 7 am (if we do that is takes 15 min versus 30 to get to work) I like to wear amke up for special occasions and insist on the hair color to fight the gray.... i dont look old enough to be a grandma and really when compeating in th e professional field you really neeed to fight the age....

I don't like to fuss alot with my makeup especially going to work. I work on the sales floor at a major department store. Doing all the stocking and helping customers it can get a bit warm. It is hard to keep your makeup looking good if you are perspiring. I like to do my hair just not my makeup alot.

I am shocked that so many here don't wear make-up! I am one that doesn't go anywhere w/o some make-up on. At least a line on the eyelid and some colored lip gloss and a couple of strokes on the cheeks. And, wish as I may, I wash a fix my hair most mornings, unless I'm just staying home for the day. I have fine hair, that just looks frizzed out if I don't blow it out and put a curling iron to it. I feel so much better when I look better. :) I can do it all in about 45 min. , so that's not so bad. I wish everyday I could just wash and blow dry and wear no make-up. You girls are so lucky to have good hair and natural beauty! Thank goodness my daughter was blessed with both! :D
