Suggestions for upcoming review

My annual review is coming up and I always get tongue tied when attempting to ask for what I know that I deserve as far as a raise goes. Any suggestions?

Have you viewed salary.com to see what people doing your job in your area get paid? That's always a good place to start. One thing you can do is write down everything you do in your job. And also write down why you deserve more of a raise. I'd suggest taking the notes in there with you. And when you talk about them, remember, the worse they can say is 'No." Good luck! Those things always made me nervous. :)

I always have in mind what I want to say and do, but when I get in there I get tongue tied. I am going to take your suggestion and write everything down so I have something to go on. Perhaps if I refer to my notes, my boss will know that I mean business! :D
