When my kids were still small, I decorated my house for EVERY holiday. Not just a little but full blown ( ya know, streamers from the ceiling :D ). I even decorated for July 4th. I still decorate for the "main" holidays but not as much as before.
Which holidays do you celebrate and decorate for? How extravagantly do you decorate?

I used to decorate much more than I do now. Now....I deck the halls for Christmas. I must admit I enjoy decorating much better than putting it all away and dragging the boxes back to the attic.

I remember when I was a little girl, my grandmother decorated for Easter with eggs hanging from all the trees in her yard. Brightly colored eggs suspended by string hanging from all the branches was quite a site. It was glorious and perfect for spring.

And down the street from me now is a lady who decorated her yard for all the major holidays with big, huge, blow-up characters. There is a scary purple witch for halloween. A Santa that is so big it seems to be more like the Jolly Red Giant instead of a jolly old elf.....

It does take work!

Christmas is the big decorating holiday for us. I am getting better organized, and we just got a tree that has lights built in. DH loves it. He has fought with lights for too long. He is good, takes down all the stuff down from the attic every year and puts them back.

I decorate a little for Halloween, pumpkins, cute things around here and there in the den and maybe a wreath on door, no big deal.

Easter, I sometimes put up an egg tree on a table with cute hanging Easter things hanging from it. My mom had the idea years ago. When I put it up, it reminds me of her, and this is special because she is no longer here(sigh).

I am in a Bunco group, and it is my turn to hostess the party in Feb. so I usually decorate a little for Valentines depending if I have the time and money to do it. It gets kind of expense with buying the prizes and then having treats, dessert, and beverages.

I don't really decorate any other holidays.

It is hard to get motivated to decorate when the nest is empty and they don't come home much .

I guess I will be ready to go at it again when and if grand kids come along. :)

I don't really decorate too much for holidays other than Christmas. I love to go all out for Christmas. I just love getting out decorations that I've had for years and ones that other people have given me throughout the years, it's a good feeling to have all those memories!

I love to decorate for the holidays. Christmas is the big one, every room has something done to it.
My grandson lives with us so I still have incentive to do something for each one and can even add some of the special things that little people think are so fun.
I have glass cylinders I change with the seasons as a center piece on my dining room table. I love looking for new and different pretties to put in those, along with floating candles. I also love changing out linens, table runners, napkins and towels for the seasons.
The only one I am a scrooge on is Halloween. I just hold my breath until we can get to the good stuff. I am huge on fall decorations though. When September hits I start putting the pumpkins and leaves and pretty baskets of potpourri and gourds in most every empty nook.
I think a lot about building memories. I think anything we can do to make our homes special and festive add to those memories. I hope so anyway. :)

I usually only decorate for Christmas. Sometimes I will put a few things out for Easter, but Christmas is the main one I decorate for. Christmas lasts longer and is worth the time and effort it takes to decorate and undecorate.

Now, I will change some of my knick knacks when the seasons change. I have some articial flowers in vases that I display, some are summery and some are wintery (is that a word ;) ) and will change them out.

I love to decorate for the holidays! I do a little bit for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Easter, but Christmas is the big one. :)

I sure don't like putting the stuff away afterwards. :( We still have bits of Christmas around. I don't like to put it all away at once because it's depressing and looks too bare.

I've already bought some new items for next Christmas which I think will be quite stunning! I can hardly wait... ;)

It does create memories and it brings enjoyment to others as well as to me. Definitely time well spent!

For most holidays and season changes, I just change out candles and flowers. I have a few wall hangings that get changed out seasonally. Christmas is my big one. Easter also gets special attention.

I decorate a little bit for Christmas but that is about it. I used to decorate a lot for Halloween but haven't done it the last few years. We don't get many kids trick or treating any more.

I do a lot for Christmas, but have made a point to keep it contained to the first floor only, haha.

I change the wreath on the front door with the seasons. Right now it has a snowflake decor. Then I have one for spring, wanna find something for summer (patriotic?), an autumn leaves one, and then Christmas wreath.

I don't do much for the other holidays, since my kids are getting too old for it now. pout...

I actually decorate more for Halloween and Thanksgiving than I do for Christmas. I still decorate for Christmas but it's such a busy time of year. Halloween is so much fun and Iove the fall colors. It's easy for me to interchange the things for Thanksgiving, a few pilgrims for the black cats and such, and I love the smells of cinnamon and apples. Fall is when DH and were married so it brings back many happy memories for us both.

I decorate my room very little. It has the usual decorations and pictures up year round, more of the sentimental stuff than anything. As an RA I decorate the hall a bit for the bigger occasions. Another RA and I threw a Halloween party and went all out with the decorations in a lounge. Then my roommate and I made snow flakes for winter (Advent had barely come when we left, let alone Christmas not even being there yet!). Basically small decorations because I have a big class load, a 24 hour job as an RA and am involved in different groups. Maybe if I had more time for that. Now to get the new door decs up this week...

I am sporadic with holiday decorating because my kids are grown. But I found these cute valentine lanterns at target. They were so cute and 9 for only $3 I got some heart shaped doilies to hang in the windows and put the lanterns in my doorways and some of the windows. They are so cute paper accordian latterns. My hubby said it looks like a chinese restaurant

I decorate everything for Christmas, every square inch, lol. Other holidays get a little attention. I like to decorate seasonally. For Valentine's, basically the whole month, I have potporri with rose petals, pink towels in the bathroom, that sort of thing. Spring and Easter I switch to pastels, have a door wreath with a bunny that says "welcome spring", put kitchen towel and pot holders out with Easter decor on them. July is all red, white and blue, of course, with the flag outside and matching candles inside. Summer I love the palm tree decor. I have less time and energy for decorating now and my grandbabies will be toddlers soon, so alot of it won't be used unless its unbreakable!

Christmas and Halloween are our biggest ones, but I have smaller decorations for every holiday. My family teases me about all the decorating I do, but last year I decided enough and barely had anything out for Christmas. My 21-year-old yelled the loudest. He said while they may tease me, it wouldn't be the holidays without me going overboard and please don't change that! It made me smile!

We used to help my mom decorate for everything. Now we argue over who pulls out the Christmas decorations. It is usually me because it gets me in the mood!! I was lucky this year to get to help my bf's mom decorate her tree...picked up a few tricks and when Erich and I decorated our tree...it looked alot better than last year. I hope that when I am older and have kids I will be very creative with decorating. I think it always helps to get in the mood for the holiday!!

I used to decorate for every holiday, but now I direct all my holiday decorating energy for Christmas. I decorate the kitchen, dining room, and the living room and front porch. I'm trying to contain myself to the these rooms, but who knows next year I may do the bathroom.

I decorate for Christmas and I sometimes do it for Easter. I usually have good intentions for other holidays, but I never get further than good intentions...

Lemme tell you, if I ever manage to sell and buy (see my post in the $ forum) I am going to at least stick something in my window for EVERY holiday, and not just my own!

I decorate for almost every holiday. My daughter helps with her projects she makes at school. I decorate for Halloween, Christmas, Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Easter and 4th of July.
I go overboard on my Christmas decorating. I start to decorate Nov 1st because I have so many decorations and like to take my time.

I used to decorate for every holiday inside AND out when our kids still lived at home, plus I did daycare in my home for 17 years! So I really had the incentive to decorate. Now, I don't know how I had the energy to do all that! I still do Christmas big, but the rest of my decorating is mostly "seasonal". I'll change out silk flowers to coordinate with the season, and put a cute seasonal wreath on the front door. It's all so much simpler, but it makes me happy!

We decorate for each season and some holidays. In January we do snowmen decorations, February we put up hearts and Valentine's stuff, March we do St. Patricks Day decorations, April we do Easter and Spring. May and June are summer decorations, July we put up 4th of July stuff. August we do more summer stuff, and then in September we put up Fall decorations. Come October we add in Halloween stuff to the fall decorations. November we take down the halloween stuff, and then add Harvest decorations to the fall stuff. December is obviously Christmas.

It is fun to change up the decorations each month.

I decorate by season. We have snow men it the hutch (our lab has discovered that things on tables make good chew toys!), I have already put up my "think spring" wreath. It has sprink flowers and butterflies on it. Summer doesn't get to much attention, we are at the beach or in the back yard too much to worry about inside the house. Come fall pumpkings and gourds will decorate the house.
