A friend of mine studied skincare under the tutelage of Pola in France. She gave me this advice on cleansing my face. She said Pola referred to it as the double cleansing method. You do this double cleansing at night. In the morning, you can just wash with soap.
You first cleanse your face with a cream cleanser. It doesn't matter which one--whichever one you find works best for you. After rinsing off the cream cleanser, then you wash you face again, this time with soap. Again, whichever soap works best for you. Voila! Your face is now ready for moisturizing.
I currently use Olay's Smooth Skin exfoliating scrub--with gentle microbeads, as my creamy cleanser. I really like Olay's products. They work really well with my skin.
After this first cleansing, I follow by washing my face with Dove soap. Dove is so gentle and doesn't dry out my face.
My skin is in much better condition since following this advice. I just thought I'd pass it along.~Moonchime

Thanks for passing that on......I'll have to try it. Usually, I just run a wet facecloth over my face at night. Once a week, I'll use a Buf Puf cleansing pad on my face to exfoliate. It feels soooo soft afterwards.

I wash my face with noxema every evening. I have tried other cleansers but they make me break out. That's about all I do. I know you're suppose to moisturize also, but I can't find one that works well with my sensitive skin. Every one I have tried ends up making me break out.

I saw your picture and you have lovely skin. Definitely stick with whatever you are doing since it is working very well for you.
It's sometimes hard to finally find what works best for our own particular skin types. We are all so different. It sounds as if you have found your best cleansing routine. :) ~Moonchime

Thanks Moonchime  As I get older I do think I need to use something more, but I can't seem to find anything that doesn't make me breakout. I've been blessed with my mom's sensitive skin it seems. However, mom did have soft skin and always looked young for her age. Guess I will hope that the good genes continue in me. :D

Noxema still around?
What a blast from the past!
They don't have it here, sigh...

Kim, have you tried Olay for sensitive skin? I think that L'Oreal might have one also.

Aveeno products are incredible as well for sensitive skin. They make an SPF 15 moisterizer that evens out skin tone and it works! $13.95 but my daughter and I both use it daily and a bottle lasts us 2 months. It's worth it. It's your face! She uses Aveeno Radiant Complexion cleansing pads. I use an Oatmeal Scrub from Queen Helene. After my recent surgery, I got a whitehead here and there and what works to dry it up overnite is a small dab of Dove bar soap. Then I rinse it off but just on that spot.
My kiddo is 12 without a blemish and I am 44 without a blemish. Seriously, our skin has no marks or bumps. I had bunches in my 30s because I tried EVERYTHING and it was awful!

Try to always use a moisturizer with sunscreen.

I never could use a cream cleanser, they always break me out. I use Mary Kay facial bar soap and a good wash cloth morning and night. It's the only one I've tried that doesn't break me out, over dry or leave a residue.
My DH is an Ivory boy and his skin looks great from what I can see, he has a beard and mustache.
