A friend recently nudged me to investigate a company that I was interested in...from an investment point of view. I found out that I didn't have to go through a broker. I found that some companies have a system whether directly through the company or through an investment program to purchase a small amount of stock (to get started) with an optional purchase monthly.

I paid the minimum (350.00 gulp) for a stock that was down...and I had heard from the news some good things coming. Now, automatically every month I add an extra 50.00 to the fund.

It costs me very little in fees and already after just 3 months I've made money...15%.

Does anyone else use this kind of investment plan? I find it satisfying since I'm not tying up huge amounts of money and for the long run, I think its a great way to put away 50.00 per month.

I think these are excellent opportunities to invest for a long term. I chose 3 different companies: one medical, one technology, and one soft drinks. I don't send $$ on regular schedule, but throw a chunk at them every once in awhile. Maybe I will get inspired to send monthly :)

Your everyday investment advisor won't tell you about these DRiPs, because they don't get a commission on them.

I'd like to learn more, I was just thinking about one online that allows you to build up shares.

Hi Sophia:

You can get more info by doing a search for the phrase DRIP INVESTING. I got started at moneypaper.com and also fool.com

Good luck, and get going!!
