I moved into my new place yesterday and I painted a new painting for my bedroom. This is quite easy to do, even for those for art real painters (like me!)

Take a picture from a magazine or online that you'd like to paint. Buy a canvas and sketch it out on the canvas first. You can use acrylic paints to paint the canvas. What is also great about this, if you find a photo that isn't in the right color scheme, you can alter the color.

I had some help from Mom, but here is one of them.

How beautiful! That is a great idea! I am certainly craft and painting challenged!

I hope you enjoy your new digs!

You can't tell the size from the photo but I think its 24" x 36" (I think?)

Its quite large and makes quite a statement on the wall. :bliss:

I love that painting - you are very talented ( like your mom ). :)

I'm not talented at all with painting or artwork.

I took Kate's advise and did a painting for my office. Although I am not talented when it comes to painting and artwork, I found that if you start out with an "abstract" piece there is no such thing as a mistake. Just put a little paint here and there, doesnt matter if you cross the lines or mix the colors. Just check out some abstract art online sometime...you'll be suprised how good your painting is when you start comparing it to pieces that sell for $100's.

Try a little compementary color to tone down or tune out the walls...compllementary colors are the ones directly across on the color wheel....yellow - purple ; orange - blue. go get paint chips that matc your wall color and see what in the range doesn't make you shiver....then find things to match...

Or you could repaint..Good luck and congrats on the new place!

Check out the way-groovy colorwheel application. Mess with all the buttons and slides, and see what combinations you come up with!

lkayscha Thanks for the idea! I'm looking at colors now!
