This is all the craze right now, in our area: everybody is Sudokuing (guess that can be verb |. It's fun, and it's challenging.

Anybody else entranced by this new type of puzzle?

HI Dany, at first I tried to ignore it and saw all the games, but I started doing them out of the newspaper and magazines, and I was hooked. I am now addicted, I love them. Carol

Math and I are not the best of friends, but I can handle Sudoku! It's quite addictive and fun, too! I think games like that help keep the mind sharp.

I haven't tried it yet, but my DD is hooked. She's a math whiz and really enjoys logic problems and puzzles. I like to play word games but may have to give this a try too.

What I like about Sudoku, Jean, is that you do not have to be good in maths (I'd be in trouble if it was the case LOL). You just need to know how to count... and how to apply logic to the puzzle.

It IS quite addictive.

I too love this puzzle. Bought a book of them when I was home recovering from surgery and got my mom and brother hooked on it!

I love Sudoku!!! I wish I would have found those puzzles while I was recovering from my hysterecomy. I would have had no problems staying in bed doing those all day.

I have never heard of it. But if it involves math I may stay away from it! Although I love puzzles, math is not my strong point. I may have to google Sudoku and see what it's all about.

Our newspapers carry daily SuDoKu puzzles and yes they are addictive. Sunday papers carry 3 - count 'em - 3! each one a little harder.

Another number/grid puzzle is Kakuro which is just as intriguing!

Chiney: Sudoku's are grid puzzles. No math involved, just plain logic... but not as easy as it seems ;)

Most papers carry them. I first saw them in magazines.

Just run an on-line search on Sudoku: you'll find tons of them!!!

I started doing soduko recently, the funny thing is my husband saw me doing it and now plays more than I do. Anyone tried the variations on this like sumdoku..... it's a lot harder but just as addictive.

I too tried to ignore it...

I bought a book, I keep it in my nightstand and I try to do one a night.

I have played online, too..

I also heard that they are coming out with a handheld electronic version. Purse size!

Great brain exercise!!!!

I love Sudoku! The puzzles were in puzzle magazines for years...had no idea they had a "name". They are one of my favorites!

Hi

I do not really understand this game - i have tried but it is either my brain is not able to concentrate or i just dont get numbers!

My hubby says its great but then he is quite numeric and as he says he dreams and sees pictures and i dream and see text!

Anyone else feel like this with Soduku?

I enjoy solving these mind stimulators but have not mastered all levels yet!

I bought my hubby an electronic Sudoku game with one million games in it for Valentine's Day! He is not very good with languages and was always a little jealous watching me enjoy my crosswords... so when I heard of Sudoku, I decided to get him a hobby! He loves it! (And I love not having piles of magazines littering the bathroom anymore ;) )

After reading this thread, maybe I will try it, too - I consider myself math-challenged but I think it would be good to overcome that - perhaps playing Sudoku would be a good start to forgetting an old prejudice! I agree that it would be good brain exercise. Thanks for making these points - very motivating! :)

I love Sudokus. I started doing crossword puzzles about 5 years ago. I told my husband it was to keep from getting Alzheimers. I love the jumble in the newspaper too. If I could do these games and puzzles left handed in a foreign language I'd really keep the Alzheimers away.

I think it's good to mix it up and try puzzles and games with different kinds of skills and thought processes. It keeps our minds young.

My hubby got me hooked on it. I actually did one with 16 numbers the other day! That was a challenge. My eyes started going buggy before I was even a quarter of the way finished!
