I have taken on the Thirty Times Three challenge. My plan is to walk and ride stationary bike 15 minutes each. The plan is to work into one 30 minute session of one or the other.
Having some accountability here is going to be helpful. I will post progress in my blog.
I need to lose weight, lower my cholesteral levels more and to get into shape.
Anyone joining me?

Yep, I am - we can do this. I like the accountability factor here. Maybe we will get some healthy habits going here.

but a gym membership isn't in our budget right now, unfortunately.
OTOH, I've been doing a lot of walking since last August and want to keep up with it. I'm aiming for a local half-marathon in May and need to kick up the trianing a few notches between now and then.

For me it is not realistic to join a gym either. I am 12 miles from town. I figure by the time I get ready, drive to town, work out, and drive home, I could have done my workout here. I have a stationary bike and like to walk outside when the weather is nice.
Walking and jogging are probably the two most inexpensive forms of exercise and can be done most anywhere.

;) once you've spent the $$ on the right socks and shoes. Especially for jogging/running. Maybe not so much for walking, unless you're training for endurance (distance, time).
If you're at that point, it's probably a good idea to consider visiting a running store and being fitted properly for running shoes. Even if you're planning to walk.
I just completed the half-marathon portion of the Bermuda International Marathon and will agree wholeheartedly with the "experts" who recommend paying for good shoes. They make a huge difference, even with walking.
I could talk all day about it but just realized it's 4:30 and I have to go pick up my son at daycare. Eeep!
More later, I'm sure. ;)

I joined this challenge. I'm already a Curves member and I'm committed to working out at least three days a week. Time permitting I go more than three days a week. I do try to get in a long walk on days I can't make it to Curves.
I think walking is very enjoyable! It's a great way to get exercise and gives me time to think to clear my mind. Sometimes my husband and son go with me, sometimes I walk with my daughter, or I just go alone. My neighborhood has some hilly streets as well as flat, and also a nature trail that isn't too far from here. I can vary my walk and keep it interesting.

Walk, walk, walk, it's inexpensive, easy on the joints, and doesn't take much time. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months walking 25 minutes a day 3 times a week.
