My husband & I love to dance. We have been taking cuban salsa lessons and we love it. My husband used to teach 18th century dance and we occasionally go to period balls. But we also turn up the stereo and boogie away in the living room.

Yes! ME!!! I love to dance, my hubby doesn't :(
Sooo, I started taking dance lessons when my daughter's instructor added adult classes. That was over 15 years ago. My daughter is grown up and lives too far away but I am still enjoying the classes. I take tap, ballet (that's hard), jazz and clogging ( my favorite ). I would love to take salsa or ballroom dance lessons, but you need a partner for those.
I also boogie away in my house every chance I get :D

You don't need a partner to take ballroom or salsa if you take group lessons. They make everybody switch off so that you learn to dance with different people.
I used to take Irish dance lessons when my DD was involved and that was kind of similar to clogging.

I looked into group lessons but there weren't any close enough for me. I don't see well enough at night to drive into Houston.
You're right about Irish dancing - there are similarities to clogging. I took a couple of classes at a clogging workshop a few years ago. I enjoyed it but still prefer clogging.

I know what you mean about prefering one style of dance over the other. I really loved Irish dance and can do soft shoe ( such as a slip jig) really well but my feet don't move fast enough for hard shoe. But I had a lot of fun trying.
Salsa is easy and I'll bet your DH would pick it up quickly if he would give it a try. There is a basic step and then you can embellish as you learn.
But lessons aside isn't it fun to just let go and dance away at home?

Gotta Dance!
Love ballet, Jazz etc. I am planning on a ballet class as a reward for other good health behaviour.

I love to dance- I'm in show choir and we perform 5 songs, each with its own unique style. Our second number is based on a Haitian tribal dance!
What I would really love to learn is English country ballroom dancing, like what they do in Pride and Prejudice (my absolute favorite book) A friend of mine wants to hold lessons so that modest people with taste will have something to do at prom, instead of watching in disgust what the kids are doing these days.

I used to dance :( I stopped about 8 months ago. I started in high school. Danced on the drill team, and fell in love. I got this rush from dancing when the music came on, and even more for an audience. Can't explain it. Stopped dancing because of time and money! I used to dream about having my own studio, find a way to make dance a little more affordable. I hope one day to learn to ballroom dance.

I dance around the house a lot. Got a concussion and 8 stitches in the back of my head that way once. But I love it. Have recently joined the steering committee trying to bring a branch of US Dance (formerly USABDA) to our little community. That will be fun, though I will likely be in search of a partner for awhile. But I've always wanted to do it and at least there I won't be the only single female in the freakin' world.... :) I'm really looking forward to it. Our first social dance with class is on March 4th. If we just get 25 paid members, we got ourselves a chapter...
