Languages seem to be my biggest hobby. Though I have been soo busy I have not had much time for them other than the two (Spanish and German) that are my majors. I have found that Pimsleur is really good and I have also heard a bunch of good things about Rosetta Stone. Does anyone else know anything about language learning programs that are effective? As in programs that are good for beginning to learn the language and carry you on to a good proficiency.

I have been trying to learn some Spanish, does that count? Don't work on it as often as I should as there are not any Latinos around here to listen to or try to learn from.
I have heard that Rosetta Stone is good too. Have not looked at them any closer than that though.

I adore learning languages! I have completed four years of Spanish and a year and a half of French, both of which I plan to continue in college, perhaps even as a double major, and then be a high school Spanish teacher. Eventually I'd like to pick up Romanian and Italian as well.
In March I am going to Spain for the first time. Ole ole! :D
Once I tried to teach myself Gaelic. That was decidedly unsuccessful. Perhaps I shall try again when I'm 30.

I had to take French in HS, and I just couldn't take to it. I think that they should require the learning of a language at a younger age when its easier to take to something. I have no patience to learn a language, but love to hear them spoken!!
