I know we have discussed Mystic tan and tan in a bottle, but who tans and who doesn't? I was laying out in the sun a little today and I really want a tan. Of course, I know the risks but I am SO pale that I get made fun of quite often *omg* I don't want leathery skin but I would like some color. Anyone have any favorite tannig lotions or oils? Summer is almost over and now I decide to tan- yep that's me- crazy :sillycat:

I tan in the summer with lots of sunscreen. Then there are times when I use a tanning booth to even out the tan.

I have recently started using Dove Holiday Skin and really like it. A tan always seems to make someone look health but unfortunately it's not always the case.
With my Father ( recently passed away) his father and mother all having melanoma I avoid the sun like the plague!!!
I never leave the house without sunscreen on my face I think is why I ( so I'm told) look younger than I am.
There are lots of good products around now, gone are the days of the "orange glow"

Hi Geni,
I was a real sun bunny during my teen and early adult years...and I was a pack a day smoker for 23 years..and I had a hysterectomy almost a year ago. I've noticed a lot of lines coming in around my eyes and mouth lately. I'm not sure which was the biggest contributor, but I know the sun tanning didn't help. When I was real young, I didnt know that tanning caused premature aging...honestly, I probably wouldnt have really cared at the time...I was serious about my tanning. Today, I wish I had stayed out of the sun.
My Dad has to see the dermatologist every 6 months for painful removal of pre-cancerous spots on his head and hands. The doctor said this is from years of too much sun exposure. My cousin has deep horrible scars on her arms and shoulders from removal of melanomas. Fortunately, they were able to catch this in time to save her life.
A tan is not worth taking a risk with your life. Please be careful.

No tan here. I do get some sun in the summer, but do try and remember to use sunscreen. I do think I look better with a bit of color, but don't want to age my skin and take the risk.
I tan. I like some color. I don't burn. I use products by Palm Beach Tan. I believe that they have some in Florida. Not sure where. But they have great products. I'm gearing up for my best friend's wedding, so I got a couple times a week now. But pretty much anything that is moisturizing to the skin will help you tan. Good luck!

I have to admit, I like getting a little color in the summer. :)
Without it, in the winter, I look like a plucked and scalded chicken! :(

I'm not one for laying in the sun, but I do like some color. In the summer I do use tanning booths. I know it's not good for me and I'll most likely pay for it later. I do also use tanning products. I think alot of them are very good. I really don't think they give you an orange look at all. I would give them a try. Maybe just try some on your legs to see how you like it. Really exfoliant your skin first before you apply the tan. It really makes it look better and more even. I have also tried the airbrush tan and was happy with that also. Now adays there is so much safe stuff on the market you really don't have to be pale anymore. So shop around and try different products. I'm sure you'll find something out there you'll like.
