Here's an interesting little poll for you all!

What's the one kitchen appliance (large or small) that you absolutely LOVE to use but HATE to clean?

I have two:

First...the oven. We're renting a house and it has appliances in it. The oven is not self clean. My OLD oven (now dead) was a self-clean. Last weekend I found myself with my upper body buried deep inside the oven grumbling and complaining trying to scrape the stuck on black stuff the oven cleaner left behind. (and, as if to add insult to injury I accidently wiped the appliance bulb in the oven and killed it) Hubby didn't dare laugh at me...even though I could tell he wanted to. I pointed a blackened and gloved finger at him and told him in no uncertain terms "My NEXT stove will be a ** SELF CLEAN!! Ya hear!!" Hubby's face contorted painfully as he nodded and ran into another room to laugh in relative safety. (guess I'm funny when I'm mad  )

Second...George. I love using my George Forman Grill but I HATE, HATE, HATE cleaning that thing. Thankfully my sink is very large, so I sit it in the sink and wash it in there. Between you and me, I'm secretly hoping I'll somehow kill it in there so I can have an excuse to go out and buy a grill with removable plates.

So...what about you? What appliance do you LOVE using but HATE cleaning?

I agree with you laurasc on the oven cleaning. I dread it more than any other cleaning job. I use that spray on stuff and it takes forever to scrub it off!

The other job I hate to do is clean the gas bbq grill . It is not as bad as the oven however.
I have never used a self cleaning oven but it is what I will get when I replace the one I have now and I HOPE they work real well .

Well....since my hubby does the cooking and cleaning of the kitchen, I asked him what was the worst. His answer...definitely the food processor. Fun to use, absolute pain to clean every time.

Well I have to agree with teh George...BUT... we got the one with the removeable plates and now its not nearly as bad. I just have to make sure I clean it as soon as it is cooled off!

George, definitely w/o a doubt! Although it wasn't as bad when I was single, I guess I make messier food now that I'm married.

Our pasta machine wasn't all that fun to clean either. DH promised when we got it he would clean it when he used it. Yeah right, I don't even know why I wasted my breath on that conversation!

It used to be the crockpot becuase I had an old one that did not have a removeable cooking pot. Now, its not so bad. The food processor is my least favorite to clean.

It would have to be the juice extractor, nice results but scrubbbing out all the fruit pulp YUCK.

I actually love the George grill, beats cleaning the normal griller hands down and best of all much less fat!

It would have to be my indoor grill thingy. It is a real pain to get clean. You have to be careful because it's not submersible and you have to clean the top and bottom and inbetween the grates. It's too big to sit comfortably in the sink without scratching the porcelin, so I have to be very careful.

I actually find the George Foreman very easy to clean. I don't have the removable plate one, but I pour some water on while it's still hot and use the plastic thingy to scrape, than after we eat, I grab some damp paper towels, wipe everything off. Than if there's still stuff on the grill I grab the sponge and scrub a bit. I usually get it all cleaned up in five minutes or less.

ROFL! No doubt. I have the Hamilton Beach one with removeable plates. It rocks!

Kate,
I have the Hamilton Beach one also. I like the GF better, but the HB one is nice because the plates are removable. Hmmm.... wonder if there's a kitchen appliance that I don't have. I've got a few more on my xmas list. :signlol:

Yep, that old style George grill is terrible to clean! I need the one with removable plates!!!!!!! Maybe that way it wouldn't sit in the bottom of my pantry! Funny, I was visiting my DM the other day & I noticed her George grill in the bottom of her cabinet, then, she offered it to me and said, used it once or twice, then gave up on that one! So, like mother, like daughter!

The oven is definitely the worst. When my old one died it was due for a cleaning. At first I thought about doing it because they said they take them, try and fix them and donate them...but I figured let them clean it

I'm not much of a baker, so I haven't made any messes that haven't been able to be cleaned up with a wipe down, but it will be nice to use the self cleaning feature (a definite requirement) when the time comes.

A George Forman grill with a bun warmer that would constantly flop open during the cleaning process is a close second. That also got replaced last year and the one with the removable plates is so much easier to clean....plus it is bigger so I can make enough for leftovers the next day :D

Third is the top of the food processor. The last one had a chute that was a pain to clean, this one has multiple sliding parts to make it lock, be a wide tube or small tube. Every time I use it I tell myself I'm going to go check if the Cuisinart flat lid accessory will fit it (it's a Kenmore but you can tell it's a Cuisinart sibling) because I can't figure out how to get it to come apart to clean it.

For all of you who don't like cleaning the George Forman grill (or the like), put foil on the grill. Press the foil into the "grooves" in the bottom and just put a piece of foil on top of the food before you close it. Saves a lot of work on the clean-up.

I have a self cleaning oven so it's the stove top that I hate cleaning. I love the stove but don't love the cleanup.
