I have long dry, naturally curly hair. Lately it is so brittle, from root to end! Anyone have suggestions on how to "help" my hair?

Hi (((Luisa))))
Boy, do I know what you mean: I have short, naturally curly hair. However, these days, it's mostly "naturally frizzy hair" :bigcry:
I've been told that wearing a bit of gel will help manage the girls... but I'm unfortunatly allergic to gel, so wouldn't know if it works or not.
My hairdresser did suggest only washing my hair every second day, and that really does help. I also blow dry my hair and "shape" the curls with my fingers. That also helps a lot.
I'll be looking forward to hearing/reading about other tips.

I have naturally curly hair and a few years ago my hairdresser put me onto a product called "revitafoam" I think there are a few similar products around.
Basically it is a leave in moisturer in a mousse form. You can just scrunch a small amount through dry or wet hair and what I like most is that it doesn't leave a sticky residue, but still defines curls and stops the frizz.

Believe it or not, I have been using VO-5 hair dressing that come in a tube. I also have long curly hair, and I've never gotten so many compliments until using this. It makes it really shiny and frizz-free. I don't really care for the smell, but luckily it doesn't hang around for long. And it doesn't get hard, like some gels do.

I don't have naturally curly hair, but have had problems when I received a perm and my hair got dry and frizzy. My hairdresser introduced me to a wonderful product called Bio Silk. You put a drop about the size of a dime on your hair and massage it in. It made my hair silky and helped to manage the frizzies. My MIL had a bad perm once so I gave her some and she was amazed at how well it worked.

A leave in conditioner may help. After you towel dry your hair, put a small amount in run through your hair. This has probably helped me the most.

Yeah, it's probably not a good idea to try them all at once. LOL Ewwww...imagine what your hair would like.
I use a deep conditioner once a month or a hot oil treatment. Sometimes I use a leave in conditioner like Infusion. I also use Dove smooth & soft anti-frizz cream on my damp hair before styling & add another touch after I finished styling. It's a lot cheaper than Frizz-eaze & works just as well even during humid or rainy days when frizz is at it's peak performance! :rain:
I forgot to mention that a "flat Iron" is the real solution to frizzy hair! It seals the cuticle of the hair & makes it smooth & silky. The best flat Irons are the ones with "ceramic plates" because they cause less damage to hair & give better results than the cheaper models. I have recently purchased a CHi Iron & am very happy with the results...no more frizz! The only thing I'm worried about is that I've heard that they break down easily & I hope it doesn't happen with mine. If it does I'll try a SEDU Iron which is supposedly more durable. Too bad I didn't know before orderinfg the CHi, but for now I'm happy with it! :D

I also have naturally curly hair, and I wear it long. A good conditioner is key. I do splurge on shampoo & conditioner from my salon, because my hair is also a little thin right on top (thanks mom) ;) To define my curls, I use physique gel for curls. You can buy it at wal-mart, and it is a little more expensive than say V05 or Suave, but it doesn't leave a sticky residue and I think it works quite well. As for the flat iron, I have one with ceramic plates and have used it on occasion, but my man likes my hair curly, and so do I. It is nice to straighten it every once in a while though, for a change. :)

Just dropping by to say I have been trying the Infusium 23 and it really seems to be helping! Thanks!
I was told to use it for a month, then switch back to my Frutctis, then after a month go back. So I will try that. I may try the leave in when I start blow drying again.
