How long should you keep makeup?

I am going to do the makeup challenge. However, I am not sure how long makeup is good for.
This is sad, but all the makeup in my bag, I can't remember how long it's been since i bought makeup.
But I have a special foundation that I don't want to throw away. It's dermablend...wonder how long it's good for??

Hi Amie,
I have read that make up should not be kept longer than one year. I have stuff that is older and have not had any problems, but it's mainly just powder eye shadows.

If you have a question about any special make up you have, you could call the manufacturer. Maybe even check out their website, they may have the information listed there.

I'm also doing the make-up tossing challenge & I've thrown out so much stuff I haven't used in years. I don't really know how long make-up is good for, but I'd really like to know especially about foundation. Is the dermablend foundation really good? Isn't it too thick & artificial looking? Does it come in a bottle or is it the same product that's used on legs for varicose veins etc.? :confused:

I love the dermablend. I have acne scars and it covers them completely. It is a bit thick, it comes with what I call a spatula. I put it in the palm of my hand & rub it until it becomes almost like a mousse, then I use a sponge to make sure it's even & not to gumpy in one place. It comes in a small container. Dermablend also does make the cover up for varicose vains & such, but I haven't used it. I have used my foundation to cover a tattoo, just to see if it would cover it and it did.
Matching your shade is extremely important when using dermablend, or else you will have a "fake" look.

I googled MAC cosmetics and came up with their website, I didn't search the website but they do have a customer service number listed so you could call or email them and ask.
