One of the Saturday radio programs in Dallas is from the Cooper Center for Aerobics. As they sign off each segment, they use this motto:
Don't forget to walk the dog. Even if you don't have one.
I haven't listened long enough to know exactly how this phrase came to be their segment sign-off, but I've found it an interesting notion to consider. I started thinking about this idea and here is what I've concluded.
1. Dogs require walking
2. Dogs require walking several times a day
3. Dogs require walking several times a day...daily
4. Even if its raining, dogs require walking
5. Even if its hot as blue blazes, dogs require walking
6. Even when you are tired and sick, dogs require walking
7. Even if you would rather hold the couch down, dogs require walking.
Because if the dog doesn't get walked, several times a day, the chances are that your house will be full of stuff you are not happy to co-habitate with....
The good part is that while a dog requires walking several times a day...daily...day in and day out....
the good part is that the walks do not need to be long. Fifteen - twenty minutes and the walk is enough for your dog's needs. Twice a day. Fifteen - twenty minutes.
That makes 30-40 minutes each day and you have your exercise for your better health.
You get your dog walked and your exercise in a package deal.
Even if you don't have a dog. ;)
