Hi, I'm Kathy. I'm in north Texas, a mom of two grown wonderful kids. One works for NASA, the other is back in school for another degree. (She also hangs out here at GGG too!)
Married for almost 30 years, I have two wonderful dogs to fill up the space that my kids left when they launched.
I love to paint, read, and love to shop with my friends, antiquing, and love to watch HGTV.
I'm Kate. :D I'm the daughter of the lady above me. I live in Plano, TX and am back in school pursuing Sonography and just started working at a local hospital in the mammogram center. I am quite fascinated by the human body and think it's one amazing machine. After studying it, it just puts you in awe. With so many things that can and could go wrong, look how many more things go right!
My days consist of work, GGG, school, working out and getting settled into my new place here in Plano.
I enjoy watching American Idol, CSI, Without a Trace and every now and then HGTV. I love to decorate and cook. And of course eat. ;) But trying to fill my body with good fuel is what I'm most passionate about lately.
I'm so glad to see and meet so many new people! I would have never met y'all would it not have been for the greatest invention...the internet. hehehe ;) Welcome everyone!

:hello: I'm Dany. I live in Canada, in the Province of Quebec, right by the Ontario border. Even though I'm fluent in English, my mother tongue is French.
I've been married to the love of my life since 1989. We have two very special children (aren't they all?): a boy of 14 who's extremely bright and diagnosed with Pervasive Development Disorder; a little girl who just turned 10, who thinks she's a teenager and is a soccer fanatic.
We also have a beautiful white cat. One of his eyes is blue and the other is green, giving him a very special look.
Finally, as of last August, we are now owned by a Golden Retriever puppy who answers to the name of Hercules.
I'm an Information Management Officer who's been a federal civil servant since 1979. I'm also pretty involved in the PTA and my neighborhood association.
My hobbies include reading, biking and surfing the internet.

:hellowave Hi, I'm Vicki. I've been married for 10 1/2 great years. We have 2 kids....our DS will be 8 in March (he's already counting down the days!) :cake: and our DD will be 4 in April. By profession I am an RN, :nurse: having mostly worked in Pediatrics. Currently, though, I am a SAHM and am really enjoying being at home with my kids. DH is a computer engineer. Due to his profession, we lived for 5 1/2 years in Oregon (our kids are native Oregonians), but have since returned to our home state of Indiana. I enjoy playing the piano (especially old hymns), reading inspirational romance fiction (I love Lori Wick's books!), :reading: and photography.....especially taking pics of the kids.

Hi everyone, :hellowave
I live in the San Joaquin Valley in California. I was born and raised here.
I met my high school sweetheart in 1978 and we have been together since. We have three children, 25, 21 19.
My eldest daughter (25) works in the refinancing of mortgages business, and is getting married soon. Her marriage will bring 3 instant grandchildren for me! She never wanted children, but you wouldn't guess it now. She plays with them and loves them like she would her own.
My youngest daughter (19) works hard at a hamburger place, and goes to college full time. Her room shows the talent of a true organizer. She is creative and loves interior design. She has posters of Marilyn Monroe and Albert Einstein. Go figure!
My son (21) well, that's a different story, but I love him with all my heart.
I teach a Sunday School class full of preschoolers, and I work as a Pharmacy Tech in a retail drug store.
The employees that work with me are from various backgrounds and nationalities. I have the opportunity to work with people from Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Hmong refugees.
One of my favorite things to do at work is  (don't tell my boss - lol) play baseball in the stockroom with the young ones!
That's pretty much the basics!

I'm Charlotte from Rhode Island, and sister of Sib2of11. I've been married since 1969, and have a son, amost 36, and a daughter, just 35. I adore my 2 granchildren. Anthony is 10, and Lydia is 2 1/2. I love going to classic car shows, reading Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Also love driving to Maine to visit my mom and my sisters and brother, who migrated there years ago. My husband and I dream of moving up there after we retire. I enjoy browsing antique shops. I'm a horrible housekeeper, but since I work full-time, I use that as a handy excuse :D
I have 6 sisters and 4 brothers, and yes, we are full-blooded siblings. My mom is still living, but I lost my dad in 1968. It's such fun, not to mention noisy, when we all get together. We laugh until our stomachs hurt...that's the best kind of laughing! I collect vintage bone china teacups. I also have family photographs that go as far as a set of great-great grandparents. I love to look at them and wonder what they were like. It's also fun to see the resemblance of them come through on one of my children, or a niece or nephew.

Hello, my name is Sherry. I live in western South Dakota. I have been married for two-and-a-half years to the love of my life. While I admire those of you that have been married for long and happy times, I am forever grateful that the Lord gave me a second chance. I have never been happier.
I have three sons, all currently living with me. Chris is 21 and has tried college twice now. He certainly is bright enough but has not been motivated, so has decided college is not right for him at this point. He has been talking to the Air Force recruiter this week. I think he will be heading that direction in a few months. Tony is 18 and academically has been a challenge for me since pre-school. He had an IQ test a while back and is extremely smart, but does have ADD. He just doesn't care about school, so he is in an alternative high school and, HOPEFULLY, will graduate this June. Jamie is 16 and generally an A/B student. (He had an F last quarter. Do you suppose he was looking for some attention?) He works weekends at McDonald's when he is not in debate tournaments and volunteers with a program called Teen Court. He is considering a career as a lawyer.
I teach middle school computers. This is my 7th year at my school. I also teach an adult education computer class two nights a week, am the school webmaster, serve on both the building improvement committee and the building leadership team, am a mentor to a new teacher, and am the person in school that everyone refers their computer issues to. If that weren't enough, I teach 7th grade religious education class every Wednesday night. And did I mention I am insane enough to have started my Master's degree this semester? Insane enough to start with 9 graduate credits! What was I thinking? Sleep is a precious thing for me right now.
Stress could be a big factor in my life, and it does rare its little head once in a while, but I take big breaths and "Choose to be Happy". I should have that challenge wrapped up in no time. I like those words - it makes it easier!
I am excited to be here and meet more wonderful women!

HI Everyone!! I am Helen from Nova Scotia, Canada!
I am married to a wonderful guy who puts up with me, and I have a beautiful 10 year old daughter (who only thinks she is 19).
I work in as a Sales Consultant for Partylite and also part time in childcare. Strange combination isn't it?
I love to read, although I find most of my reading has been online lately, I write poetry, love spending time with my friends and in the future I would love to travel!
Three cats share the house with us and a Siberian Husky dog, who thinks she is a people too.
I found this site though a link on Hystersisters! YAY for that site that helped me keep my sanity!! :)

My name is Mary Lou. I live in southern Maine, between the Maine/New Hampshire border and Portland. I have two kids, DD almost 27 and DS 22. Also a wonderful, smart, funny adorable 4 1/2 yo grandson. And can't forget the kitties! Maizie, Pisces, BB and brand new: Josh. We adopted him today, but we can't bring him home til tomorrow, every animal has to be spayed or neutered before they can leave, so he's having his procedure tomorrow.
I am a bookkeeper, at the moment not working, but looking hard. Until I do get a new job DGS spends his days with me rather than in daycare.
I love animals, Jimmy Buffett, NASCAR, reading, walking, and my family.

02-08-2006, 05:18 PM
Hi, I'm Mary. My username is Buttercup because our family camps at a place called Buttercup in the Southern California desert. My husband and youngest daughter (14) ride ATV quads there in the sand dunes. I used to also, but a CT spine scan showed I have some bulging disks in my upper spine. One has caused some narrowing of the space for my spine and the neurologist said absolutely no more riding! But it is still fun to go camping with our family and friends.
This is the second marriage for both of us and it is so much better than the first one! But I did get a wonderful son, 27, and daughter, 25 out of it and my husband has the best fraternal twin daughters, also 25, from his marriage. Then we have our 14 year old daughter. We've been married 16 1/2 years and been through a lot together and are more in love than ever.
I worked until 2005 as a computer programmer on an IBM AS/400 computer but had to stop due to health issues. Now I am happily at home but would like to maybe work part time or work from home.
I think this site will let me find out what other ladies have going on and may give me some guidance and besides it sounds like fun!

Hello everyone
I'm Maygirl from Vancouver, BC.
I have been married to a wonderful, patient, teddy bear for the past 25 years. We have a 21 year old daughter, Jolene.
The household is full with 3 cats, 3 turtles and a dozen fish.
We have been living in S E Asia for the past 25 years since hubby first got posted to Thailand back in 1981. Then it was Singapore and now Brunei. Life has been good here. Everyone is so friendly and life here is easy and laidback.
But I do miss Home. I miss the supersized malls and real coffee and just about everything North American.
I am presently studying for my teaching degree.
Aside from netsurfing and cable TV, I do alot of reading and am trying to finish writing a book I started 2 years ago! Cooking is a favorite past time as well as entertaining
but my favorite expensive hobby is to travel as much as I can while we are out here. :p
Cheers! :)

Hi, I'm Kim, 41 (ouch), married, four kids, all teenagers, his mine and ours, 19, 19, 17 and 13. I live in Western NY state. This is our second marriages, certainly managing to do it amazingly this time around. I said 'right' first in that previous sentence, but that didn't do it justice. We just finished building our home and doing finishing touches decorating. In the spring, the gardens and pond will go in...sounds like we'll have it done, and we will, by me...8-) That was an awesome experience, we are still marriend and I'd do it again, with our same builder though. I'm currently working my way through a home correspondence course so I can work at home. I've always been mostly available to my family and I want to continue to do that, I'm just bored with my job now and want something different but as flexible. It's alot overwhelming getting motivated, to get it done, when I know this needs cleaning or that errand run...everything else seems more important...anyway, that's another thread. I want to say a quick hello and thanks to Kathy, great idea, bet it takes off just like hystersisters...well done. I'm hoping I find the motivation here to keep to my studies. This is fate that I got this link.

Hi Everyone
My name is Jules. I am 50 (double ouch!! :p) I live in the UK and at this time in my life, I am looking to get inspired to help me achieve my new goals.
I live with Rob, my partner and Clay our 5 mth old puppy labrador! We have a large garden and the river bank next to us, so we have lots of nice walks for him.

I am a qualified Holistic Therapist, trained in EFT, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage to name a few. :queen:

Hello, I'm Michelle from Texas. I try to have a positive mental attitude and some think that makes me positively mental! So, that's my new handle!
This website is a great idea, Kathy!
I am working on my new challenge ... road cycling! I've never been athletic so enjoying a sport is a new one on me! Who would've thought I'd be taking this up in my late 30s!
I don't do too many things I don't enjoy [at least a little bit] so that I can keep that Positive Mental Atitude. OK, I do iron and I hate ironing...hate paying someone else to iron more!
I am married to a wonderful man and we have 2 sons. The Boy Scouts of America is our family activity. We both volunteer heavily in the BSA. We are also very involved in our church parish.
We have a horse, a collie, a huge orange tabby (not fat, just plain large) and fish. My youngest wants a pet rat ...hello! NO WAY!
My dear sister in law was diagnosed with MS this past year, so I am riding in the MS150 in Texas to raise money for the cure. I figure if she can live with this every day, I can train for and finish the ride!
Anyway, enough about me! PMA!

Hello everyone!! I'm Lady Bug. Girls Get Going is a fantastic idea!!! After losing touch with the HysterSister's site, I felt sort of lost in looking for cyber friends. Thanks to all who put this together. :)
I'm from South Carolina, married to my best friend, 3 boys - youngest just turned 20, owned by 1 Lab, 5 Poms, and 1 Mini Doxie.
Lady Bug was chosen as a good luck omen. Since a mastectomy due to breast cancer in 2004, I have been cancer free!!!
I had a Lady Bug tattooed on my left ankle in honor of the occasion - :D - something no one that knows me dreamed I would do - except my hubby - ;)
I teach special ed in a separate school within our district. My hobbies include reading, puzzles of any kind, antiques, plays, and dance.
It is great to be here - like coming home!!!

Hello Everyone.
Just found this site and trying to know what to do to start. I would like to introduce myself....hope i found the right place to do that.
My name is Dana. 45 years old, married (second marriage) for 15 years, two grown boys from first marriage, ages 21 and 24.
I love to travel and seek the sunshine. Wish I had some hobbies to list. Sounds pathetic, but I don't have anything I am passionate about. Maybe thats why this site interested me. I also had a hysterectomy a few years ago and would like to talk to others about what they have experienced with thiers. If anyone has some advice on how to get around here...please feel free to contact me.
I'd love to meet some new friends. :)

My name is Linda. My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary last June. We have two girls, 22 + 18. Both are married and the eldest has given us our first grandchild--Leslie, nearly one. I'm her Nini!
We all live in central Iowa, not far from Des Moines. My husband is also my pastor, and I spend much of my time managing our outreach ministry--a coffee shop and ministry center.
In my spare time (haha) I love to spend time with my kids and especially my grand. I love to read, quill, cook, and walk.
I am looking forward to the challenges.

Hello! Living in Texas. Am a new NICU nurse. Second career - after raising kids for 30 years.
I have been married to the same dh for 21 years this July. He travels LONG distances (gone about 18 days each month) for a living - which has made the marriage last because we don't see too much of each other - and has made the marriage a difficult one because he isn't here to help out much. Am rather a single mom.
I have four children ages 29 (dd), 20(ds), 18(dd2), 12(ds2) and three lovely grandchildren ages 5(gs), 3(gd), and 20(gd) months.
My 29 year old daughter is married to a great guy for the last six years and he is the BEST son in law a mom in law could hope for. He is a super dad. They live VERY close by - part of the reason we moved to Texas.
My interests are gardening, sewing, human physiology, psychology/biochemistry of stress in young children, medicine, helping others out. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, traveling to new places. I'd climb Everest if ever I had a chance.
I suffer from hypersensitivity to noise, chaos, and if I don't get enough sleep, it is "crazy time".

We don't have any children, but do have 3 cats. They are quite a handful. :D
I work full time in the accounting department for an international firm. It is my first time working for a large international firm.
I enjoy swimming, puzzles, gardening, old movies and watching sports.

Hi! I'm Paige, 32, from Florida.
Got an invite via Hystersisters and decided to take a peek. :)
I fancy myself a writer and am working on finishing a book.
Never married, no kids. Homebound due to a variety of medical problems. Uterine cancer in '04 and heart & back problems now. Most of my time is spent online, reading forums, sharing emails, working on my amatuer website, etc.
Graduated college in 1996 with degrees in English and Business; wanted to be a librarian or professor, but things haven't *quite* worked out as hoped ;)
Living with my mom for the time being. We have 2 older cats, both adopted Christmas Eve from the shelter, named Pete and Luna.
Glad to be here!

I'm Kim C. I live in Worthington, Ohio, a northen suburb of Columbus. (Where are you Natalie?)
I'm 35 and currently working at home as a Medical Transcriptionist. I'm married to Dave who works as a consultant in network administration for Nationwide Insurance. I have a daughter (Alexa) who is 11 and a son (Jamison) who is 5. We have "unusual" pets - 14 rats and two snakes.
My husband and I both sing. I sing in a chorus and he directs a chorus, both acapella groups that sing in the barbershop style. Both of our groups compete and this keeps us very busy. The kids love it and travel with us. It's a great family hobby!
I also enjoy reading, specifically non-fiction and history but I also love Stephen King! My favorite TV shows right now are CSI and 24. My daughter and I are also addicted to Project Runway!
I'm happy to have found this group and look forward to "meeting" you all!

BBShopmom - Kim C.
How do you get to be a work at home Medical Transcriptionist? Do you need to take courses? I'm looking for a job where I can work at home and I've heard this mentioned a few times but have no idea how to get into it. So many "work at home" ads turn out to be selling over the phone or cost you money to get into.
Thanks! Mary

Hi Mary!
I actually was working in the office as a medical assistant before I got the transcription position, so I kind of lucked into it! You can take courses online and the schools are very reputable but not really very cheap.
If you want more info and some links, send me a note and I'll send it to you.
My name is Laurie and I live in Iowa. Used to live down in Little Rock but had to come "home" to the midwest after being away for 14 years. I've been married to my wonderful husband Jim for 21 years and we have a beautiful daughter named Allie who is 17. She writes a lot and a play she has written will be performed at the college here in town this weekend. Not very proud, am I?! :) I do not work outside of the house, but I do have my own jewelry making business and I just started making my own beads. I'm the artsy fartsy type and my daughter is even more so. I look forward to meeting y'all!

Keeps me busy!!
I work as a cardiac nurse at a hospital near me and I'm also going to school to further my nursing education.
I'm so happy to have found this awesome web site!! A few years ago, a friend and I were going to join the "adult girl scouts". I was SO disappointed because we couldn't earn badges. When I was a little girl, that was my favorite thing to do! I has so many badges, I had my mom constantly sewing them on!! SO, when I found I could do that here....I said...WOW..I found MY place!! :)
I have just tons of hobbies and stuff I like to do, so I'm hoping I can just post threads and meet lots of friends.
bye for now.......

Hi Dana - I came to this site through Hystersisters and it should be very rewarding. I had my hysterectomy 3 years ago this month (OMG is it really that long!!) and after 6 months hit the big M. Hot flushes are almost gone now and the night sweats didn't last to long either. Just learning to cope with the mood swings (not very many) and the lost of libido (big problem at the moment), so maybe we can trade notes?

Hi! My name is Amy C-S. I’m from Nebraska. My DH and I are eagerly awaiting the adoption of our daughter from China. We expect to “meet” her via paperwork in day now and then travel about two months after that. We have been married 10 years in June.
My hobbies include reading, surfing the internet & emailing, photography, and various other hobbies that come and go. I tend to work on one thing for a while then switch to something else and then get back to it. ;-)
We are doing minor remodeling of our main living area. It is keeping me busy and wearing me out!
I am excited to be here!

Hi...I'm Dianne. I live in Arizona and love it! I hail from New England and thought I'd spend all my days there, but I met my wonderful 2nd husband online and he lived here in Tucson...so the rest is history! I have 2 sons 1 daughter and 1 stepson. My youngest just turned 18 (do I feel old!) and my oldest is 35 and he and his wife have given me an awesome grandson, who is 6 years old. My daughter became engaged on Christmas Eve to a great guy! I work part time at a tea room/gift shop but will be leaving that job soon and hope to get a full time job in the fall in order to help with college costs for 2 kids! I take American Sign Language in college and hope to some day become an interpreter, although it will be quite a way off in the future, if it does happen. There's more to tell...but I don't want to get carried away! ;)
It is so nice to be here and to meet all of you!

Hello all! My name is Ingrid and I'm from Oregon - the beautiful Northwest. After reading through all the posts on this thread, I realize that I am definitely in the minority here - a very happily single woman who loves being on her own. I was married for 22 years and have two wonderful grown sons, so I can certainly relate to many of your experiences, but I'm also looking for other women who like I, am very happy and content.
I spend a lot of time at my first job, and also work 2 music jobs as well, so I don't have a lot of time to write, but am hoping that I can connect with others in this way. I have some goals I'd like to achieve, namely lose 50 lbs. and get organized as well as learn more about Buddhism.
I look forward to meeting you all and sharing! --ingrid

Since hurricane Katrina struck, we have been counting our blessings and cleaning up. We're still doing minor repairs due to wind damage we sustained. We lucked out better than our neighbors to the east.

My partner and I have 6 beautiful children aged 19, 13, 11, 7, 6 and 4. My youngest child has just started school this year and I am feeling a little lost and lonely, not sure what to do with myself as I have been a stay at home mum for 19 years. We also have two cats named Babiie and Chocolate. I found GGG via an email from hystersisters as I had a hysterectomy in September 2005. Hi,
I am MaryBeth and live in Northeast, PA. I have 4 boys ages 17, 15, 2 and 1. I am also the stepmom to two girls ages 6 and 8. They keep me quite busy. The two youngest live with us fulltime. My older boys are in and out between us and their dad, sometimes I think it's whoever has the best food at the time. Somedays I don't know if I am coming or going (most days). Thankfully I do not work outside of the home. I did it when the older ones were little and now I know how much I missed. These two little ones are either keeping me young or aging me quite rapidly!
I am here to hopefully finally get some help with that weight loss goal I have and to hopefully make a few friends along the way. :D

I live in the midwest and am the Flash Queen. I currently have a novel in the works but my first love is flash fiction. I've been published in a few places and plan on getting published a lot more.
My kids are grown and mostly gone, and although the body is over 40, the mind is still 19. That has its good and bad points.
I have a twisted and (sometimes) demented sense of humor which is probably the only reason I'm still reasonably sane. Well, a little bit sane.
Okay, I'm not all that sane but that's alright too.

Hi Marianne! (sorry if my spelling of your name is off, I'll get it right next time! Thank you for the first answer to my post. I'm so new here, I'm still trying to learn to post a photo and bio!
I'm happy you posted to me because this is why I came here, to connect to those who are different from myself and to learn about other and their lives!
An example would be that in being in entertainment since I was a child, I never learned to quilt! This is important to me! I LOVE quilts and my mother could so such things I lost her young. I am truly fascinated by the fact that you quilt!
I am looking to buy a quilt and have been for a long time! My tastes are high, and i do like the 'real thing," that is, handmade, being spoiled by my mother's work.
Would you mind sharing a bit about your quilting? What sort you do? What you can tell me in terms I would understand about technique? I promise, I would be thrilled to hear about it.
Once, a musician of some fame was in a show i did. He would not leave the town the gig was in until he found a real indian rug! His wife wanted on so badly that he delayed his flight to find one, even going to a reservation!
Again, thank you for posting to me and making me feel unignored! I'd love it if you shared more!
Best,
Anomaly
P.S. I see I did not slaughter your name, I'm glad of that!

Anyway, this is the best - just what I needed. We moved to the Chattanooga, TN area 4 years ago and I still don't really feel that I've connected to a lot of women. I have a lot of acquaintance friends, but not one I would probably just call up and ask to go to the movies.
I am a social worker and mother to two fantastic teenage daughters and happily married to DH for almost 20 years.

Hello to all. I am Jane from Southern Ohio, but originally a Hoosier. I just joined last week because of an invitation from Hystersisters.
I'm 46, mother of 3 kids, two are grown, and one is 17. I have 3 grandchildren that live close and I see them often. I live with my husband/partner of 15 years and he has a 16 year-old son. We have a cat that hates all other living creatures except for my husband, my youngest daughter, and me.
I work fulltime, go to school part-time and love to read, garden, hike, travel, and am politically active in my community.
My youngest daughter suddenly decided to live with her dad a little over a year ago and I've been finding my way as a crushed empty nester ever since. What's the purpose for the rest of my life? :(
The empty nester sites were too painful for me so I'm hoping this one will help me make friends and find out what life is like for others.
In a few weeks, I'm traveling to Ireland with my oldest daughter to celebrate her pending graduation from college and her 30th birthday. It will be our first vacation with just the two of us. We are going back to where our family lived before emigrating to the US at the start of the potato famine. I'm soooo excited about the trip!
I've been reading posts and just generally checking out this site and I like the diversity of topics in the forums. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Hi everyone,
I am celtic lady, and I am new here. I used to use the Hystersisters site after I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago, and had the link to this site sent to me. I really enjoyed meeting up with "the girls" on line, and think this site could be a good one, now that I am not in recovery now.
I am 51 years old and am happily married to Rob, and we live in North Wales, in the UK. We have had a rough couple of years healthwise, because as soon as I was well, then my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer, he is well now though, and responding so well to treatment. He is nearly finished with it now, and is on the way to recovery. We have a son, who is 34 and he is married and has a lovely little girl of 9, they are a joy to us, even though David is in the RAF and lives the other end of the country!!!
I love to read, travel, love gardening, although it has taken a back seat recently!!!!! I always try to look on the bright side of things, and make the most of life.
I have put on so much weight in the last few years so am about to try and lose some of that. But first I am going to make a spagghetti bolognaise tonight and have that last bottle of wine!!!! ha ha.
I look forward to seeing you all on line and talking to you there. Bye for now.
Love Celtic lady xxxxxx

Hi, My name is Jojo, I live in northern WI. My husband and I have been married for almost 21 years. I can't believe I'm old enough to have been married that long! We have four children 17 yos, 15yod, 10 yod and 7yos. They are all great kids and we get along well. Of course there are those days.....I think my greatest struggle with kids is wanting them to love and like each other. My youngest has been diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder and adhd. He truly is a delight to us and to all who know him. He is in 1st grade and having a great year.
I've just recently gone back to college full time and love it. My goal is to be a special ed teacher with kids who are learning disabled or emotionally disabled. We'll have to see where the Lord leads me when the time comes.
We also have pets, 2 cats and 1 dog. I'm not that crazy about them like most of you are of your pets. But they are soft and cuddly, just shed too much. And those nocturnal cats.....
I joined GGG last week and have been really enjoying it!

Hi everyone! My name is Julie and I am from South Louisiana. I am a single Mom of 3 beautiful kids. Preston 15, Kayla 9, and Amanda 7. My life is work and kids. I have no hobbies cause I am too busy for anything but raising kids and work. I love to make new friends and talk to people on the computer. I have been divorced twice and I have now found the LOVE OF MY LIFE. We have been dating for over 2 years and we will not be together until my oldest finishes high school. That is my only commitment right now. I promised my son that I would let him finish high school before I moved away. So I am alone at night during the week and spend my weekends with my bf. That about sums up my life in a nutshell.

Hi,
I'm Kelly. I live in Kamloops, BC Canada with a wonderful man. Unfortunately he suffers from severe depression. But he is truly a kind and generous person. I also have 3 much loved parrots, Punky, Jo, and Herbie.
I'm in school to get my credits to proceed into the Charted Accountant School of Business. I have already landed a job with KPMG and am looking forward to it.
I have one sister and no children.

Maygirl here.
Thanks to Katie (of hystersisters) we now have this wonderful new site to introduce ourselves.
Like you, I too love to travel and seek the sunshine which is why we live in the tropics now. I honestly don't see myself retiring anywhere with snow that's below zero!
I had a hysterectomy.(TAH :( ) Mine was around 18 months ago but it sure feels like yesterday. (sometimes) My best friend thinks I'm "keloidal" which is her explanation for my "womb pain". It usually hits hardest when I'm at work or stand for any length of time.Do you suffer any phantom pains? I used to surf the web looking for other women who maybe in the same situation as me. Nowadays I just learn to live with it. I can't exercise like before. I don't 'run' on the treadmill anymore as my 'womb area' gets real tender and sore. I hope you are in better shape than me!
The only thing that has seriously suffered from all this is my baking! I am no longer able to whip up as many goodies as I used to. My kitchen time these days are limited. :p
Not that my hubby should complain - he's overweight to begin with!
I have a 21 yr old daughter, in Uni. We have a houseful of pets, 3 cats + turtles + fish. I do a fair bit of gardening - my yard is full of flowering shrubs and my better half has warned me about my ever increasing foliage. He can't get past stuff to the front door!!hehehehe
I can't help it, I have green fingers or whatever.
Do drop me a line, if you want to chat.

Hi Everyone!
At the moment, I am not doing anything or as I prefer to say, "My life is in transition". So, perfect timing for your fabulous new website as I could really use some motivation right now - and I have time to return it, too!
I live on the East Coast and I love the snow but we never get enough of it anymore. I LOVE animals and have a cat and a few tanks of fish. I would have more pets but I don't have the room! I have been married for one year and three months! Our pets are our children and they are very spoiled!
I love music, especially opera and classical, I love to ski and swim, and cooking and reading are two constants in my life.
I really look forward to getting to know you all and seeing us achieve everything we desire!

Hi. I'm Mary. I'm from Oklahoma. I've been married for 12 years and have 2 awesome little boys, Brandon, 10 and Tanner, 7. Both of my boys play soccer and I coach both teams. It's fun for all of us.
I am a nurse. I love reading in my spare time (when I find any!). My favorite books are the InDeath series by JD Robb. I also like to work out. I play Bunco once a month with a wonderful group of women. It's a great time of fellowship for just us girls, no husbands or kids.
I look forward to meeting new people here!

Hi! My name is Shay and Im not sure Im in the right place. All of the above ladies have 'wonderful' children and interesting lives and careers and hobbies. Personally, my life seems rather boring in comparison, maybe thats why Im here on this site.
I have 2 sons, one is 17 and with that comes a ton of teenage drama of girlfriends, etc. I could start my own soap opera. My youngest is 11 and he is an old man in a young mans body. He asked for a brief case for Christmas and could probably run a small business. He gets annoyed with me always telling him to lighten up and go play in the yard! Im a stay at home Mom and go back and forth each day wondering if I did the right thing. Somedays I can see that it is and somedays I wonder.
Compared to the other Posts I guess I have a time management problem because I really cant seem to fit interesting hobbies and PTA in my schedule. WOW! I sound like Eyeore the donkey. Maybe I should visit the mental health forum next! lol Seriously, Nice to meet you all!

Hello, my name is Akosua. I am a Ghanaian and live in Ghana in West Africa. Was invited by Hyster Sisters - had TAH plus LSO in 2002 and found wonderful support and insight on that site.
I am 48 y/o chartered certified accountant, have been married for nearly 25 yrs to a wonderful man 19 years older than me, and who spends his time spoiling me. He's retired. We have two lovely children DS turning 23 in less than two weeks and in his final year at Univ studying Electrical Engineering - wants to be a telecomms engineer/accountant, and DD 19 y/o in the first at Univ studying Biochemistry.
Have spent the last fourteen months working to turn around an otherwise great company that nearly went bust.
Finshed my coursework for an Executive MBA in December and will soon start work on my project work to complete the program. I am also a student of Interior Decoration.
My hobbies are reading and volunteering at church.
Looking forward to making some great friends here.

Hi there I'm Madbo.
I'm mother to a daughter, 16, a son, 11 and married to my High School sweetheart for 17 years. I live near Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
I'm a writer (both fiction and non), website designer, and I knit and design knitting patterns as a hobby. I read more than anyone I know and my public library seems to have a shelf full of books on hold for me at any given time. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not! :p
I've recently been reading the book "Now What? 90 Days to a New Life Direction" by Laura Berman Fortgang which seems to be along the same direction as this website and forum. I highly recommend it to anyone who's thinking of changing their life, career, relationships, goals.

What I hate: Doing my Taxes! It's that time of year, and I've been working on the darn things for 2 weeks and need a break. Argh!

Hi everyone!
I am married with two grown children. My son is married and lives and works in Cincinatti. My daughter is still single and lives near Indianapolis.
My husband and I live in old farmhouse that used to belong to his grandparents. He raises hereford/angus cattle as an expensive hobby. I have a herd of barn cats that I am responsible for, plus three in the house.
I work as a Family Service Counselor at a large funeral home. I've been in this business for 7 years and love it! With the kids on their own I can set my own work schedule.
We have a Goldwing motorcycle that we ride locally in warm weather, and enjoy time at the lake in the hot weather.
I enjoy reading fiction, walking, listening to Billy Idol, and riding my bike! Not a real exciting life - but a comfortable one.

I love the JDRobb series also! I read about 20 different authors. I carry my list in my purse so I can pop in to used book stores. My grandma used to have a ladies group that played Bunco. I remember them eating little sandwiches and pie on fancy crystal plates. She'd let me stay and watch, it was loads of fun. Couldn't play it now - can remember how!

My daughter is now 21, and abruptly moved out when she was 19. We are far closer now than we were before. Give her some time to miss you and appreciate you!Hello to all.

HI, I'm Mandy and I am from Nashville, TN. I found out about this site from HysterSysters. That was a life saving site for me when I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and had to have a hysterectomy 1 1/2 ago.
I am 31 and a single mom. I have a wonderful 8yr old son who takes up much of my time with his busy social life and school schedule.
I currently work for a timeshare company but am returning to school in April to become a surgical tech.
I look forward to exploring all areas of this site. I think I'm gonna love it :)

Hi everyone! Just a short introduction of myself. I'm originally from the great state of Oregon, but ended up here in Virginia (about 30 miles from DC) with my last assignment in the Army. Good thing too, as that was when I met my husband. Needless to say, I've only been married for (almost) 4 years. We have a great life together, though in December of 2004 I had a hysterectomy and so we will never have children that way. We do have two tabby cats, Calvin and Hobbs, and one golden retriever, Dusty, and they are our three "boys".
I spent 20 years in the Army and was able to see Korea, Alaska, and spent over 10 years in Germany. I had a great tour. My only regret is I didn't join right after high school.
Now I'm in my second career as a Government Service employee. I work for Department of Defense as an Executive Administrative Assistant for the Executive Director of the National Committee for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. I love my job and work with all services, some Active components and some Reserve components. It's a small headquarters with 56 employees. But we have over 3,000 volunteers throughout the U.S., Europe, and the Territories.
I'm currently working on my Masters in Public Administration and will finish next February. It is stressful to be in school and working full time, but I want to advance in my career and I believe this is the way to do that.
Well, I said this was a short introduction and it isn't! It's great to be here and this couldn't have come at a better time for me.

hi everyone...
i was referred to this website by kathy from hystersisters, so i came over to check it out and so far, i like what i see.
just to tell you a little bit about me... i have a great job in marketing and sales. i just completed my degree in journalism/public relations last fall. this was an especially huge accomplishment for me because not only did i work full time (at least 50 hrs per week) but i raised my two kids by myself while i did it. i am divorced and my ex husband lives out of state so i had no family resources. i knew i had to get my degree so i could provide my children with a better life. so, here i am now. it is my hope that some another woman will find strength in me to go forward with her education and know she can do it!
my daughter is 5 and my son is 7. i am dating a wonderful man whom i have known for over 12 years. things were rough over the past 3 years and it seems like i have found the light at the end of the tunnel.
i look forward to cruising around here for a while and getting to know you all better.
:)

Hi everyone. My name is Lori and I live in British Columbia Canada. I am married wth no children, pets or plants. Ok that seems a little weird even to me. I was a nurse but retired due to cancer. I have survived bilateral breast cancer and endometrial cancer.
I am looking for a ladies group that likes to have fun. A group that will motivate and celebrate life. Perhaps this is the group. I look forward to sharing with you. Bye for now...

Don't worry. You're in the right place. I was telling someone just the other day that when I run into people who have the 'great life' 'great kids' 'great job' etc., I have NOTHING in common with them! :p Everyone has complaints, but many people don't want to share them. That's fine for them. I need to commisserate more than they do, that's all. I have a nice life too, but I have my moments where I think -- "Okay. Now what?" I don't feel like I have a passion for anything (aside from becoming a total knitaholic over the last 16 months). I'm not looking to go back to school to further my education or go out and find myself. I have a 22-yo DD that's still around even though I wasn't sure she was going to see the morning during her high school years and even a few years after that. She's known as the "drama queen." I feel your pain! We also have a son getting married this May and one graduating high school. I"ll be glad when the end of June is here! So stick around. You can be Eeyore, I'll be that little guy with the cloud over my head. If nothing else, we can make everyone else feel better. LOL!

My name is Dianna. I am 31 years old, and I have been married to my Mr. Right since April of 1996 (coming up on 10 years...yay!!!!!). We are going on a second honeymoon of sorts in April. I am really excited because we rarely get to spend any time alone. We are going to Myrtle Beach for a week. I was born in the NAval hospital in Charleston, so its going to be fun to see where I was born and where my mom lived when she was young. I finally am going to get to see what my mom has been talking about all these years(We moved to Oklahoma when I was 2). The last time my hubby and I went on a trip alone was back in April of 1998 so this is a big thing for us.
We have 4 great kids (3 boys and a girl) ranging in age from 14 down to 4. I inherited my oldest when I said "I do", and have been his mom ever since. The other three came to me the more painful way. My oldest is going to start High school in August, and had very recently discovered the miracle of girls.....lol. My second son is 8 yrs old and in the 3rd grade, and is a real good kid. He's into soccer, and basketball. My baby girl is almost 6 and in Kindergarten. She is really independant and has decided that she is going to be an Opera singer when she grows up. Her favorite movie is Phantom of the Opera. She says that she is going to grow up and play Christine. She very well could too. She has a nice voice for a 5 yr old I think. Cory is my baby and is 4 yrs old. He will be starting school in August, and is so excited. I am torn between being happy for him and being sad that my youngest is going to be a "big kid" so soon. They all seem to be getting so big so fast. I NEVER expected it to go by this quickly, despite the fact that everyone told me it would.
I chose to be a SAHM and am so glad that I am here when the kids need me. I get to volunteer at the school when needed, and can go to the kids school basketball games w/out having to worry about taking off work. As far as hobbies go I like to read to my kids, I love to cook, and I like spending time w/ my family(when time permits). When there are 6 people to look after things can get pretty hectic, and life NEVER slows down, so when I get any time at all to just relax I take it.
My goal right now, besides losing weight, is to go back to school in August and get a business management degree. My husband and I are wanting to start up a computer networking business, and I will be handling all the accounting, and business end of the company, and my hubby will be doing all the computer work. He is amazing when it comes to building, troubleshooting, and networking computers. I have never seen anyone as versatile in so many areas as the man I like to call hunny. But then again I AM partial to him. If you can't tell, I am also the talkative type. I didn't used to be, but I married a man who doesnt know how to shut up, and it rubbed off I guess.

Hi everyone
My name is Mel and I live in Northern Wisconsin. I heard about this site from Hystersisters also. I am 53, married for 30 years, have 6 grown out of the house children and 6 grandchildren. I am soon to be unemployed and am taking some classes because I love to learn and would really like to get a degree (in what, I don't know!) as a personal goal prior to my turning 60. Hopefully, this site will give me a chance to engage in some conversations about things that affect all of us.

This isn't my first post, but it's the first time I've found this page! I was invited to join GGG by the HysterSisters site. I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy in 2001 (on my 44th birthday!) and have had 2 repair surgeries since then. Hopefully, I'm done with that now! :) I've been married to my best friend, Paul, for almost 29 years. We have 3 grown kids, and a delightful 5 year old granddaughter. Our youngest daughter won a battle with Lymphoma last year, and through that journey, life became more precious than before, and our priorities became crystal clear. Every day is a gift from God!

Hi! I'm Debbie.
Life is good – I’m young enough to have fun, yet old enough to know what is important. God has been very, very good to me.
I've been married to the best for 25 years. We have a wonderful daughter who has turned out pretty great, thank you. She is married to a great guy, and they have been blessed with 1 kiddo. Being a GRANDMOMMA is a GREAT thing!! Motherhood is ok, but I had to be the meanie sometimes. Well, Ok. most of the time... Now, as the GRANDPARENTS - we can play and have fun all the time with our GRANDSON, and his PARENTS have to be the bad guys!! I really love my family!!
For fun, I like to go Drag Racing. I have a 1970 mustang that can do 8.45 in a quarter mile. My husband, Chris has a 1967 Ford Falcon that does 7.74 in the quarter. See http://www.abilenedragstrip.com and http://www.raceabilene.com if you like.
When we not RACING the car, you will find us right up close and personal at the starting line taking pictures of all the race cars. My husband and I do the website for ABILENE DRAG STRIP http://www.abilenedragstrip.com and all the pictures you will see on the site we have taken. We own Canon equipment and have gotten some very nice shots!
We also design websites. See the links from raceabilene.com to see some of the sites we have done. :)

Hello to you all.
I am in Oregon just west of Portland. I am a ceramic artist, mom of 21 yr old twin daughters, both in college in Connecticut. I am a Dog lover (not all breeds, but a lot). We have a senior basset hound that is the queen of the castle and has always graciously allowed us to dwell in her midst...a spoiled dog would be an understatement.
I am fifty years old and love the Pacific Northwest, even the rain, at times. No rain, no green I always say!
All for now.

:) I am from Plano, Texas. I received an email from a Hystersister pal. This sounded like a great site.
I am been married for 20+ years. I have 2 sons. How do you get your teenagers out of the house? :( I have chronic depression. But, I when I am not depressed I am a very happy person ( as long as I have my meds:) ). Me and slim fast and Atkins are trying to lose weight. I just recently got a new job :D and am in training for the next couple of weeks and then we will see how it goes. I am really happy to be here, this looks like a cool site.

Hey Girls!
Received notification of this site through Hyster Sisters. So glad I found you!
Now for the introduction... I'm Barb and I've been married to my wonderful hubby, Jeff for almost 14 years. We live in Huntington Beach, California which is where I grew up. I'm very close to my family and we've all stayed in the H.B. area which makes holidays and get togethers easy. :) We were never blessed with children of our own. We have a 4-legged child named Abby who is a yellow lab and approx. 6 years old. I've battled my weight most of my life and am happy to say that the last fews years, I've lost almost 100 pounds and am 10 pounds from my Weight Watcher goal. When I reach my goal, it is my hope to become a Weight Watcher leader and share my journey with others. I work full-time as an Administrative Assistant and am fortunate to say that I LOVE my job! Hubby and I are currently remodeling our townhome. We are over 6 months into our project(s) and I'm hoping to be finished in the next couple of months. When I'm not working, I'm either at the gym taking a sculpting (with weights) or spinning class, or walking Abby on the beach. I'm also a huge fan of HGTV and love to work on my Creative Memories.
Looking forward to getting to know some of you and make a few friends.

Hi my name is Shanon and I am 33 years old. I have 3 girls ages 14, 12 and 9, and my husbands name is Bobby. I am employed as an accounting clerk for cocoa products. I am a member of hyster-sisters, which is how I know about this sight. I think that it is cool to have a place like this for women to share, and I am sure sometimes vent. I really look forward to becoming friends with you all.

As many of us, I too was referred from the "other" site. That was a great resource for me when I had my hysterectomy 3 years ago. I'm glad that's behind me, but it was the best thing I ever did!!
Now for the introduction. My name is Kyla. I live with my DH in a NW suburb of Chicago. We'll be married 25 years this year. I have one child, 23 yo DS, who was recently married. My husband and I moved out of the house we'd lived in for 23 years and "downsized" to a 2100 sq ft townhouse (the term downsize is a joke!!)
I am the utility director for our local water department - I previously was in charge of water quality and now am in charge of the whole thing!! I just celebrated my 20th anniversary at my job this week. I love it!!
When I'm not working, I'm either at some meeting for one of the several not-for-profits that I associate with, or I'm reading, riding my bicycle, geocaching or scrapbooking.
I love life. I have a great attitude (it's one of the few things that is truly mine!). :)
I'm surfing around this site because I love to meet people (in person or on-line). Once I have an opportunity to "look around" I'll chime in again.
Nice to meet you all.

Hello Shaz105,
Welcome too the group. I can very relate to loving someone you love. On Feb. 15th was the 1st yr. Anniversary of my dads death. I'm alos married and have (4) children & two grandchildren. My husband is very supportive, which helps. Having lost my dad really hurts me very much, However I know he's in a good place. Yes the pain will never go away , but what keep me going is knowing that someday I'll be with him. Grief is difficult to overcome, but what really helped me is having the support of loved ones, most importantly I joined a Grief Support Group which is located at a local hospital in my city. Perhaps you may want to check in your area for a Grief Support Group. Please know that you're not alone, and I certainly will keep you in my prayers. Feel free to email me 'privately' if you desire. Take care of yourself.
Sincere Regards,
Michelle

He plays the drums and electric guitarand is in the process of being involved with a band. His music is very good. My husband is also a very wonderful man. We both work at Walmart and enjoy it. I have a cat named smoochie who can be a ham. She has moments where she is so hyper that my husband and I spend the day laughing at her. I enjoy sketching, scrapbooking, painting and starting sudoku, I also play pool at a club where I live.

sk8ter - I've started doing Sudoku puzzles, too, but I can only do the easy ones so far. I was looking at a book on how to do the logic and it was pretty much what I do so I'm hoping to get better. I haven't been working in over a year and I like to have something to work my mind.
Hey Lisa,
I have a musician son as well, drums, guitar, and sings. He's been playing in two christian bands for years. He's about to take a break because of some low grades. That was a tough decision cuz I love to listen to him play. Isn't it great to see our kids grow?

:p Hi everyone, my name is tina aka justmisty. I found this group through histersisters which is a group I love and since they recommended I figured this would be just as great! I am a totally insaine mother of 4, 15yr old learning to drive son, whom is an amazing child--brains and behaves (have wondered if he is an alian but not gonna question it to mutch). I have a l2yr old daughter who if she could become a boy and not wear bra's she would be forever happy--she is a major barbie hater to. Then on to m children who challenge my sainity daily--my twin 8yr old boys with ADHD. I could write a book on their escapaides but we don't have time lol. I also have a dh of l8yrs who is testing me this weekend by comming home with a 4wheeler aka toy for himself after I turned down spending alot of money on family pics  but thats another book to. I also work as a cashier at a home improv. store part time and I go to school at night to someday be a radiologist-if I can ever pass algebra! I love Nascar and my puter and my puppy shizu. I have fun dealing with surgical menapause symptoms, the twins adventures or temperments of the day, work, and school work :p
Hi, I'm Bonnie. I'm 47 and share my house with my 26 year old college student son (who I'm beginning to suspect, plans on living with me forever...NOT). I also share my home with two cats, McDuff and Zasu and two little dogs, Toby and Casey. I am currently working swing shift in a laoratory (interviewing for a day job in the next couple of weeks). The job is boring and not a challenge, but the benefits are good and that is a priority for me right now. I have a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management that I'm not using and I hope to be able to start taking some classes this year to add a business or marketing degree. I enjoy gardening (although you wouldn't know it to look at my yard right now), travel, cooking, and am currently learning to love exercise again. This looks like it's going to be a fun, helpful board!

Hi all y'all, My name is Mary. I live in the Chicago suburbs, but about ten years ago I "discovered" the Florida Panhandle gulf coast. I love it there (except for the hurricanes). So I've decorated my condo up north here to look like a beach cottage. Plenty of shells, sand, and real gulf water that I've shipped home! Evironmental CDs of the sound of waves playing. Such a peaceful, relaxed feeling when I'm there. Guess some of that has to do with the fact that when I was there I was on vacation from work. I retired early, so now I'm home -- not working. So now I kinda get a little of the same feeling here as I did there -- except when I'm looking out at the snow and cold. I think of living there as living simply. That's not always possible here at home. Some of the problem I feel is that I've got too much STUFF -- and I just keep buying more stuff. Got to break that habit.
But something I buy and almost never regret is books. I buy far more than I'll ever read, but I love my books. I have put some $$$ into hardcovers on all kinds of subjects. Today I got a book on sale -- "Vestiges of Grandeur" about the Louisiana plantations along the River Road. I'd like to see more of the South.

Hi! My name is Michelle. I am 46 years old, married to Marc for nearly 26 years. We have 3 children all living at home, ages 24, 22, and 17. I live in MA in a small town approximately 25 minutes from Cape Cod. I am a Pediatric Nurse and Lactation Counselor in a busy office of 8 Drs, NPs and PAs. I love being outside, gardening, camping, reading and crafts. I absolutely adore vacations of any kind, anywhere, but especially cruises.
I am new here too, I just love this site and have spent alot of time reading and wondering.
I am married have 2 sons , oldest is 22 and has left the happy nest and youngest is almost 19 and a college student, I now find I have alot of free time I am not sure what to do with yet.
I used to quilt quite a bit and am thinking about getting back into that, I am an avid scrap booker and rubberstamper. I have been married for 28 years am going to be 47 in a very short time ... Oh my how the time passes LOL
I work 4 days a week in a surgeons office but am currently looking to leave and find something 2-3 days a week with a bit more laid back setting.
I love to cook and like to make mostly comfort foods, I am also trying to get my 10 pounds off that have somehow crept up on me this past year, I love walking in the evenings usually 2-3 miles each night when weather permits right now its been bitter cold and snow so I have to settle for going to the gym.
I cant wait to be able to get back outdoors and garden and take walks.

Hi. I'm Rhonda. I'm 41 and I've been married to a younger man for 12 years....he's seven years younger...get'em young and raise 'em right! I have two daughters....a 10 year old who is like Canadian Girl's daughter...she thinks she's a teenager. I also have a 6 year old who is sweet as sugar!
I spent 6 years in the Air Force and "retired" to go to nursing school..then the money ran out. I now work from home for a health care administrator and I've worked for them for 14 years. My husband works for the same company and has just been approved to come home and work also....say a prayer for me! :)
I enjoy reading....everything. And I love to watch TV...reality TV and home improvement shows are my favorites. I just recently had a hysterectomy and I discovered this site from the Hystersisters site.
I'm really interested in losing weight (100lbs at last count) and getting in shape. I used to be a runner....maybe I'll be running again in the future.

Hi all,
My name is Debbie. Here is my story.
I was born in 1959 (the end of the baby-boomer generation) in St. Boniface, a city that technically no longer exists. It is now part of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
I met my husband while volunteering for the Variety Club of Manitoba in 1986. We both are big into volunteerism. We married in 1988, had our daughter in 1992 (you know the 13 going on 30 age). We also have a dog named Max, that we picked up from the humane society about 4 years ago. He is a cross Border Collie/German Shepard. Lovely dog, perfect gentleman, but man, does he ever shed black hair on my almost white carpet (me and the vacuum spend time together almost daily).
I am really looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Hi! My name is Leanne and I am a 41-yr-old SAHM to 3 - two girls turning 15 and 13 in the next week, and a DS (5 in May). I've been home for 5 years, but am going back to work on a casual basis soon. I'm so excited! I know I'll be a better Mom if I can have more regular contact with adults :)
I am an extreme hockey mom, as all my kids and DH play. We also have a hockey player billet. I have volunteered with our local hockey team for 4 seasons now. I've become quite passionate about a sport I've never played!
My other hobbies include reading, sewing, quilting, cross-stitching, and just about any other craft I can get my hands on. I have to exercise a LOT of restraint. I belong to several Yahoo groups, mostly around sewing and quilting.
One of my least favorite things is housekeeping. Can't quite figure that one out :D
Thanks for having me, looking forward to getting to know some fellow Canucks.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Doris and I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, namely Concrete, Washington. If you want to see what I see from my backyard just ask. I could send you endless pictures of how beautiful it is here. I have been married to the man of my dreams for 5 years and acquired a 15 year old daughter about 9 months ago. I never expected to raise another teen after mine, but she's a pretty good kid as far as 15 yo's go. I work 20 hours a week in retail, and do accouting out of my house. (My DH is self employed) I am also starting to take some courses at college (50 was a real eye opener for me).
We have 2 neurotic cats that we dearly love and are great company. There is only one problem, my husband is a steelheader. Just in case you don't know what that is, it is someone who eats, drinks, sleeps and lives for catching a steelhead (an ever elusive fish (trout) that taunts even the most experienced fisherman), so I am looking for someone to talk with besides a 15 yo and cats. There is just so much you can say about how cute that boy is and the cats just think that they should be in charge.
I am looking for someone that can be a diet buddy, also. I really need to lose weight, but don't have someone that really understands how hard it is. So if you are really committed to losing weight, please email me. I like to cook, bake, pamper my pets, walk, and look at the beautiful nature that God has given us.
I sure look forward to hearing from anyone that can keep me sane in an insane world.

:woohoo2: I graduated with my Master of Art in Teaching Elementary Education this past May. I am currently teaching 1st grade. It's tough being a first year teacher.
We purchased a new home last week. We are currently unpacking and buying things for the new house. It's a lot of fun. There will be alot of entertaining at the new house because we have a built-in bar and a pool. *party*
I love reading, playing online, creating websites, and sewing.
I can't wait to make new friends on this site and hopefully refer some current friends as well.

Hi,
I'm Aunty Vi from British Columbia. I am an accounting clerk by day and an uncontrollable crafter/reader/tv watcher in any other free moment. Single, 43, no kids (although I do get to borrow a friend's), have 3 cats and a dog. My craft addictions are card making (I start my Xmas cards in July), One Stroke painting, beading, crocheting, knitting, cross stitch and anything else that looks fun. I may not do them all well but I give a darn good try. That's it for now. Hope to talk to everyone soon!

Hi, I'm late in introducing myself. I'm an unconventional academic librarian (nope, I don't look a thing like the action figure) living and working in the Kansas City metro area, and a readingknittingAll-StarworkoutsjunkieRealityTVfan by evening. My husband and I have two spoiled furbabies - a black mini-panther named Carmen and a full-figured, tortoiseshell criminal-genius-in-training feline known as Meadow. Both were shelter adoptees. I'm currently trying to add more variety to my life and am hoping the challenges on this site will help.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend! :)

Hi my name is Shirley and I am 37 and I live in Abu Dhabi which is in the Arabian Gulf. My husband is a pilot and we have been married for 15 years. We have a son of 12 and a daughter of 7 going on 17. We moved here recenctly and are still trying to find our feet. I am debating with my self every day as to whether I should go back to work now that the kids are at school (not that I am bored). Brandon is struggling to make friends at his new school and this is a major dilema for me...anyone have any ideas?

Hi to everyone. My name is Karleen and I live in the southern tier of New York. Yes, it's winter here, we have about 8 inches of that nasty white stuff and its been bitter cold for a few days now. Today, I have cabin fever, can't seem to find anything I want to do.
I'm happily married, mother of 4 children, all grown now. My youngest is 19 and living at home.
My interest include chatting on the phone, reading, and I crochet a lot. I'm in the process of remodeling a bathroom, but need to wait to do some of it until I can open the window to let out paint fumes.
Hope to meet a lot of new friends here and get some useful info too.
Have a great day my new found friends! :D

Hi, I'm new too!
I currently live in the RTP area of North Carolina, but grew up in Delaware from a Utica/Frankfurt, NY family. I'm just starting back in school now that I'm "grown up" - 41 years young. I have 4 great kids - 14, 11, 9, and 7, a yellow lab and 2 dwarf bunnies so we have a full house! I started adult life as a computer science/math major, but having been out of the field I'm probably going to go for something different - I like to think I can still do pharmacy or physician assistant, but don't know yet if they take old people like me!

Glad to meet you Leslie and Rita Jo ;) I live in the small town of Prattsburgh. It's nestled between Naples, Hammondsport, Bath, just to name a few. Don't know if your familiar with the area. This is great, I haven't even really had a chance to explore much of GGG, but I'm excited. I don't have a lot of friends, and am hoping to meet a bundle of them here :D
