My dh's brothers and families are coming here for New Years. They are suppose to arrive very late on Friday and will stay thru Monday. We're going to have pizza on Saturday, lasagne and snacky type stuff on Sunday, and ham and trimmings on Monday. :yum: I'm going to buy a spiral ham that's precooked so I'll just have to fix the trimmings. We'll also be exchanging our Christmas gifts. It's going to be a hectic and fun weekend.
I've been busy fixing up the house and am exhausted. I still have much to do, but am hoping that I can finish tonight and tomorrow. My husband's brothers haven't been here in a long time so I want the house looking spiffy. ;) I'm going to go to the grocery store tomorrow so I can relax and enjoy the weekend. I sure am glad that I had this week off! :D
What are your plans for New Year's?

Well, my kids will be gone back to their homes so DH and I will be alone for the first time in over a week. We have plans to go out for a nice dinner and then our neighbor's invited us over as they are having a small New Year's Eve party.

My DH and I are planning a quiet New Year's Eve at home. We'll watch the neighbors fireworks. Monday, I'll be preparing our usual New Year's day meal - ham, blackeyed peas, cabbage and a few more veggies. Just mainly a kick back and relax day :D

My Aunt always had this saying "whatever you're doing on New Years Day you will be doing all year long"- I always thought it was the silliest saying. She had alot of sayings and superstistions- but I love her. Anyway, if that saying were true, I will be one very bored person again- hehe. Usuallly my DH and I just stay home and watch the "ball drop" at Times Square, but we are actually planning on going to a little place nearby- they have the BEST crab legs and mussels and shrimp. YUM!! I don't drink, so I will drive. That is usually why we never go anyway- it is just SO dangerous. Drunk drivers should be severly punished- I just can't tolerate them!!! OK sorry about that rant- Happy New Year All :dancepart

DH and I have been staying home for the past several years, and I like that just fine. I'm not a drinker, and I hate going to house parties and watching everyone get drunk. By the time 1:00 a.m. comes around, I'm ready to go home, but dh usually has a drinking buzz by then and it takes forever to leave. Now, we're older, and he has back problems, so we stay home and watch tv. I set the alarm for 5 minutes before midnight in case we doze off. We get up, watch the ball drop, maybe have a little champagne, and that's it for the night. This year will be a little different. My son and his girl are coming for dinner, and my 11 year old grandson is here for the weekend. Sometimes we make midnight phone calls to those who we know will still be up. My daughter is 5 hours behind me, so maybe I'll call her when midnight hits the east coast. Other than that, it's just another day. 2007 HAS to be better than this year was. I was out of work for 6 months on worker's comp.....broke my wrist, had surgery on it, and went through extensive physical therapy. We had some money problems, and dh is still out on worker's comp since May with a back injury. We're both hoping that his place will take him back with some limitations. I'm hoping for a better new year all the way around.
Whatever you girls decide to do to celebrate, please be safe and have a great new year!

Well, my DH and I usually just watch a movie and have some popcorn...we switch the TV over to watch the ball drop right before midnight...then we give each other a peck on the lips and go back to our movie. This year, I bought some of the pink "bubbly." I don't usually have a drink, but I really like pink champagne and this is a good excuse to have a glass.

I'm having 5 friends over tonight for a late supper. Two couples (one two women who have been together for over 10 years, one two guys have been together for five, with one guy learning signing to be able to converse with his mate), and a gal who's mate is out of town for the night.
Since I'm proving the main dish and the wine, I hope someone will have the bright idea :D to bring a bottle of sparkling wine.
By the way, here many people do not mark the "Civil" New Years as it's often refered to, because it isn't the one on the Jewish calendar. I remind such complainers that the country does run in line with the most of the world by using the Gregorian calendar. Besides, one cannot have to many new beginings to wish one another health and happiness!!!

New Year's went great! It was exhausting and really hectic. I am not used to having so many people in my house, including 2 hyper kids. But it was lots of fun! Everyone had a great time, including me. :D I am, however, really happy to have some peace and quiet again and to have my house semi put back together. I have one room left to do, but the door is closed so no one but me knows it is still a mess. ;)
