View Full Version : Do you eat breakfast?
Okay, fess up! Who does and doesn't eat breakfast? :) As they say, it's the most important meal of the day! If you do eat breakfast, what do normally eat? If you don't eat breakfast, why don't you?
I eat breakfast because I'm so hungry when I wake up. I love a hot breakfast of eggs white and a slice of bread. Or Raisen Bran or if I'm really in a hurry, Carnation Instant Breakfast. It's almost as good as chocolate milk. ;)

Yep! One of our favorites is steal cut oats. I put them in a small crockpot, set them on a timer and poof, we have hot oats when we get up. If we don't do that, I make us a protien shake full of fruit, soy ,omega oil, fibergy and nutrimeal :yum:

I eat breakfast everyday but I have to confess that I used to skip it when I was single. DH makes breakfast most mornings and probably would't let me out of the house without it :superman:
I find I do better with protein rather than sweet stuff although DH does make a mean buttermilk blueberry pancake or wholegrain waffle. This morning we had homemade oat waffles left over from Sunday and popped them in the toaster then covered them with Brown Cow cherry vanilla yogurt. YUM!
Usually if I prepare breakfast it's probably going to be eggs and toast.

I usually have yogurt and granola for breakfast. I love oat meal, cream of wheat and malt o meal. On the weekend, when dh doesn't have to work, he makes pancakes, because that is what our grandson loves.

I have breakfast every morning. I love cereal with fat-free (skim) milk and fruit. Usually raisins, sometimes a banana.

Breakfast??? What is that? Beyond a couple cups of coffee, there is no breakfast. Eating first thing in the morning makes my stomach turn. :banana

I can't survive without Breakfast. I make a BIG pot of oatmeal on Sunday. Then I put the left overs in the frig. I add pecans, cinnamon, and brown sugar Splenda to the microwaved oatmeal and 2 minutes I have hot delicious breakfast!. I also freeze blueberries, when in season, and add it to the oatmeal before I micowave...yummmm!

I have learnt to make myself eat in the mornings especially as I'm trying to lose some weight. I usually eat low fat cereal with a banana and low fat milk. Baked beans on toast no butter or a poached egg on toast again no butter.

I eat breakfast, but at 10:00 coffee break. Yogurt and fruit.
On days when I don't go to work, it's usually Special K and a glass of orange juice.
I leave the pastries and stuff like that for special occasions.

When I was younger I always skipped breakfast. Nowadays, I always eat breakfast. Not a big one but after my very necessary coffee, I eat. it's usually a biscuit or toaster waffle, something quick and easy. On weekends I have an egg and piece of toast. My DH loves a hugh breakfast - 3 eggs, 5 or 6 slices of bacon, toast , hash browns if I'm willing to cook them. No wonder I just had to buy him larger jeans.:D

If you count diet coke, then I eat breakfast during the week. On the weekends we often get breakfast tacos or make breakfast biscuits with cheese and morningstar sausage (a favorite from back when we were vegetarians).

I try to eat breakfast, but it is not always breakfast food. Sometimes it is Weight Watchers oatmeal or a cereal bar. But, I also sometimes eat cottage cheese with fruit (pineapple or peaches) in it or some low-fat cheese and Wheat Things. As long as there is some protein so that it lasts me through the morning.

I must say I never eat breakfast, I usally eat lunch around 11am however. I am up a 5am and start work at 6am. I have tried to but I just cannot. It is like my body is not ready for it.

I usually eat a medium size bowl of cereal with 2% milk. That is all I can handle when I get up but if I don't eat it, I am grazing all day.

I make myself eat breakfast, it does help me lose weight, really setting up the days eating. I sometimes have cereal with fruit, or toast and sometimes crumpets. I also try to have a yoghurt, then a piece of fruit about an hour or so later. I do limit coffee to usually just the one cup at breakfast, otherwise I pay for it at bedtime

During the week I usually have a slice of turkey or some low sugar oatmeal. I'll have something about 7am or so. On the weekends I usually don't. Sometimes I will make a light snack around 9am, but we tend to just have an early lunch on the weekends.

I always eat breakfast, usually pb on toast since it's the easiest way to combine carbs & protien for me. If I don't eat breakfast I'm falling asleep at 2 AND grazing all day. However, I can't eat until I've been up for at least an hour.

I grew up not eatting breakfast but when my kids came along I cooked them a healthy breakfast every morning, still skipping it myself.
A few years ago I was diagnosed as diabetic so have tried real hard to eat something each morning. Most of the time it is a cup of yogurt, or a single serving of oatmeal after I get to the office.
Sundays my husband always cooks eggs, grits, sausage and bisucts.
I have to say the biggest reason I don't before I leave the house is I simply don't remember to fix something. That could be because I rush, or am forgetful, either way I make sure to keep something in the desk at work because when I get there, is usually about the time I remember that I forgot!

I eat breakfast everyday, BUT its not always breakfast food or healty food. For instance this morning I had one leftover chicken enchilada that my mom had made last night. I was raised that as long as you eat something, thats all that matters!!

I don't usually eat breakfast, not hungry. I sometimes will eat a banana or maybe some grapes or cracker at work. :)

I used to hate breakfast, wasn't hungry, but trying to lose weight I started eating a scoop of oatmeal with lowfat milk, and it helped. Sometimes I switch to Total or Raisin Bran.
If I can't stand the thought of cereal, I eat a piece of toast with peanut butter and fruit spread. Or a hard boiled egg.

I try to eat breakfast...after I've been at work for awhile. I wish I was a morning person and could eat a good breakfast in the morning before I leave the house but I'd rather sleep those extra few minutes! :-) hee hee

I need breakfast to get my day going. I like Cheerios with a handful of blueberries thrown in. On weekends we splurge and make bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns....not as healthy as the Cheerios.....but we have to cheat once in awhile!

I have to have breakfast, but this wasn't always the case years ago. In fact, I hated it.
I eat a fiber rich dry cereal with soy milk and blueberries one day, and on the other day I eat oatmeal with ground flaxseed, then at mid-morning a piece of fruit and some nuts.
I eat small meals actually all day long, keeps the blood sugar up and keeps me from over eating at meal times.

My suggestion is start your day with protein and fiber. Keeps you filled up longer and keeps the weight off.
Colleen
I never used to eat breakfast, thinking I was doing myself a favor & skipping a meal. 2 cups of coffee & a couple of cigarettes was it except for the occasional cereal & milk. Now I make it a point to always eat breakfast knowing it's the most important meal of the day & kick starts your metabolism. I usually have instant oatmeal or yogurt with fruit. :)

In an effort to live a healthier lifestyle, I started eating breakfast two months ago. I'm pretty embarrassed :o to admit that I haven't done so in about 15 years.
I will say that with my new found love of blueberry smoothies and a bit of wheat toast, my energy level has been through the roof in the AM. I wish I'd started much sooner!

Breakfast? I typically eat it once or twice a week, but recently found out I need to start eating it every day to kick start my metabolism before going to workout. When I do eat breakfast I either stick with oatmeal or yogurt & a few Cheerios.

I eat breakfast every day. Usually it's something simple like cereal or oatmeal. Sometimes it's everything--pancakes, sausage, orange juice and eggs. :yum: I don't think I would function too well without at least a little something for breakfast.

Absolutely - gotta get that engine started! My favorite breakfast is Bob's Red Mill flaxseed oatmeal. It is grainy and chewy. I use a tsp of splenda brown sugar and have a cup of skim milk with it. Yum! It starts my day off great - gives me good fiber, a milk serving and some Omega 3s!

Here is the link to the product at Bob's Red Mill website -http://www.bobsredmill.com/catalog/index.php?action=showdetails&product_ID=334
It is actually called "RIGHT STUFF 6 GRAIN HOT CEREAL WITH FLAXSEED, ORGANIC" I think the website has a store locator where you can enter your zip and see if a store near you carries it or you can order online!

What type of oatmeal do you eat? I need something quick and easy. Did you see that commercial for the cereal that lowers cholesterol and blood pressure? I am all over that.

I eat the instant stuff( regular)but sometimes I will use the quick oats. I love the commerical about oatmeal having so many great benifits for the body also, everytime I see it I say to myself I am doing that and it is good..makes me feel good to know I am doing at least one good thing for me.I do not have high BP or high cholesterol, but I do have nasty habits that I need to address.I am 7 years post hysterectomy,on hrt,54 years old and slim(with alot of mid-section tho).Good to see this site , havea great day

I love the regular oats, but I'll eat the instant, too. The regular only takes five minutes to make. I make it in the microwave.
Not being a morning person breakfast is tough for me. During the week, I usually eat after I get to work. When I buy granola bars or instant oatmeal, I keep the box in my desk so I don't have to worry about grabbing something in the morning. Some days, I'll stop at the deli in our building for a bagel. On weekends,I rarely do breakfast, although sometimes I'll stop at one of the family diners for their breakfast specials. However when I do that, it is usually right before they stop serving the specials at 11 and then I don't do lunch.

I used to skip breakfast, then went thru a period of junk (pepsi and Hostess choco. cup cakes, frozen so the cream was hard  ). But, as always, my bad habits caught up with me so I am now a good girl. A light breakfast at 6:30 which is almost always a homemade quesadilla (whole wheat wrap with melted cheese --lowfat of course--fresh baby spinach and grated carrot) with a small glass of soy milk (chocolate only!!)

I usually can't eat when I first get up because my stomach is the last part of me to wake up and I'd get nauseous. I would eat on my 9:00 break...tea and instant oatmeal. However, I'm out of work due to a work related injury and surgery, so when DH comes home from his job in the morning, he makes me cinnamon toast and tea. He cuts up fruit and puts it in a bowl in the fridge for me to snack on when I feel like it. I like the fact that I'm eating more fruit these days instead of something fattening.

I went thru a stage with my IBS of not wanting to eat/delaying to eat my first meal for fear of getting a flare-up. But I have found that once I started eating the regular 3 meals a day with a snack here and there,it has helped me somewhat.I think that if we have IBS we will always have it to some degree ,just a matter in how we cope with it and it gets sso stressful sometimes.Take care and eat something!!!
