What is your favorite verse?

Mine is:

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)

My favorite bible verse is:

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:5

"I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have the faith needed to move mountains-but if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned-but if I have no love, this does me no good."
1 Corinthians, 13:1-13

Philippians 4: 4-9 written by Paul :)

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again-rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Don't worry about anything; instead pray about everything.
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.
His peace will guard you hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me-everything you heard from me and saw me doing.

Then the God of peace will be with you.

Paul's letter to Timothy
1 Timothy 6:6

"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that."

As with smalltowngirl this is my favorite verse too.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Hebrews 13 is one of my all time favorites, but particularly the following:
Hebrews 13:5-6 (New International Version)
5Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,
"Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you."[a] 6So we say with confidence,
"The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"[b]

My favorite verse is John 14:2. This verse came to me at a time when I didn't even fully understand why it meant so much to me. But it is the whole paragraph of verses John 14:1-4 that really made the verse 14:2 so significant to me. After contemplating this for years and reading each and every different translation amongst the KJV, NIV, RSV and the NLT the message I gained was the same that there was room in heaven even for me and so it was up to me to trust in him, Jesus, that this was true. It is really that simple. This is so awesome because I had been praying for years for God to let me trust in him.

From the New World Translation

Psalms 56:8

My being a fugitive you yourself have reported.
Do put my tears in your skin bottle.
Are they not in your book?

This touched me b/c not only does God know when I'm crying he keeps the tears!

I have a lot of favourite verses, but this one is particularly special because I received it a couple of days after my father died. He got saved a few days before his death and I couldn't understand why the Lord would take him so soon after he got saved.

"The righteous perish and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil." Isa 7:1

I love this verse, it was the first one I remembered as a child and has stayed with me all these years. It helps me get through times of fear and uncertanity, even now.

When I am afraid, I will trust in you.

It is hard to pick just one...but I would have to say Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

This gives me such reassurance that my life and future are planned out and I need to look to the Lord for His leading and trust Him in the difficult times as well.

Thanks for starting this thread!
