Has anyone had total knee replacement? I had mine Oct 26, 2005. I didn't take the therapy as seriously as I should have from the get go, and am now trying to avoid the manipulation surgery by going to therapy 4x a week. I've made progress, but the going is still slow. Anyone out there that can understand my pain and situation?

:comfort: I have never had that type of surgery, but I did have several weeks of therapy for a knee problem this past summer. It's not my idea of fun and is a lot of work.
Just do your honest best and follow the instructions, and hopefully you can avoid any futher surgeries.
Take care, and keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks, hope your knees are well. I suspect my therapy will continue for at least a year. Unfortunately, my knee flexation is only at 91 degrees with my own force, which is not enough to even cycle. The goal is 120 degree of flex at my own power.

Hi there, Ihad my hip replaced last March and saw many knee patients while I was in the hospital. Knees are a hard operation especially keeping up with the therapy. I know one of the women that was there I ran into and she's still in therapy for the same stuff your describing. Luck!!

I don't think hip is any picnic. My DH had his hip replaced @ 45 and he had a really tough time. Yes, there were a few seniors in the hospital (some hip, some knee) that left him in the dust. I think recovery is very individual. He waited a very long time, until he could barely function, to have it done. That allowed his muscles to atrophy. He also gained alot of weight from inactivity. All complicated his recovery. Hope you are doing well now.

I work on a rehab unit for folks who've had knees and hips replaced. The therapy is very intensive, but it's also well worth it! Hang in there!!
