I love scented candles...and hot baths. One of the things I look forward to after a long day...is a hot bath with candles in my bathtub. I stay in there until the water cools down and my fingers are pruny.

I also love the smell of bread baking!

I love seeing animal tracks in newly-fallen snow. (Yes, I know that you have to live in "The Northern Hinterlands" like I do to have this privilege!) I get the biggest bang out of discovering all the "wildlife activity" that has transpired in my surroundings while I sleep. When I put on my boots and trudge (clad in my PJ's with a ratty old parka) to the mailbox to retrieve the morning newspaper while the coffee is brewing, I see evidence that a pheasant has made his rounds, a bunny has hopped across the yard, a neighbor's dog has investigated the scene...you get the idea. It makes me happy, and it's a wonderful start to my day.

There are lots of simple things that make me happy. The simple thing that makes me the happiest is seeing a beautiful sunrise or sunset... ESPECIALLY if I have my camera with me. Seeing these make me reflect on the wonders and vastness of God's beautiful paint brush and this inpires me to to be creative.

I also am very happy when I have a diet coke with "perfect ice", when I get five minutes to talk with a friend, spending time with my husband just talking about our days, warm fuzzy socks right out of the dryer, finding cool new beads, when my dogs lick me on the nose... my list is endless!

Sunday morning, that is what makes me happy. My BF and I sit and watch our fav show and have coffee and talk. It is my fav day of the week. Also, new snow... I love the first snowfall of the year. Everything looks so clean and fresh

I really like hearing my wind chimes outside... I have several on the front & back patios. In the warmer months, I like working in my garden, lounging on the patio, listening to the water fountain and birds, and bringing fresh-cut flowers into the kitchen to stink up the place ;) it's cheap therapy!! :bliss:

When my husband makes me feel special....
I just had mjr surgery and he was so good to take care of me..He cmae back to the hospital about 930 that nite and when the doc came by to see me and tell me if i was hungry I could eat- my hubby got up and went and got me a salad..
When he brought me home- he got me all situated and fed-then went off and got my scripts filled and brought me a bunch of microwave type food so I wouldnt have to cook alot during my recovery..
And Anna- I have to say crushed ice is also a bonus for me...

Ahhh the simple things. I love the smell of coffee brewing and cakes and cookies baking.

On some of my worst pain days all I need is for my dd to say something silly or funny and It makes me forget about all that is bad.

I like going to visit my parents and the dogs running to meet. It's as though I'm the most important person in the world. :) And when Dora is hungry, it cracks me up when she has to tell mom, "hey! you! remember me??? I'm your dog. I'm hungry. Hello down here!"

I also like the first few days of Spring when the weather starts to warm up but the nights are still chilly. Oh, wait. It's winter and that is going on right now. :p

Turning up out of the blue to surprise my kids in school. It's a 6 hour round trip but worth it just to see their faces. I love to see them participate in sport and take them out for dinner, simple things but just wonderful.

A Couple Of Things That Make me Happy:

**the smell of cookies baking in an oven
**the first flowers coming up after the winter
**the first really big snowfall of winter
**getting flowers from DH out of the blue
**my animals running to greet me when I come home after work like they've not seen me in years
**the smell of lilacs when walking down my walkway in summer

The smell of babies
Children's laughter
An email from my husband that just says, "I love you!"
Any time with my children
The smell of spring rain
Coming home to a clean house
A student that learns something new

This list could be long!

I guess the simple things that make me the happiest are the times spent with my children and husband. As a working mom I don't get as much time as I'd like with my kids, so what makes me happiest is when we spend fun time together!! :)

Walking in the timber and listening to the trickle of the creek.
Watching the squirrels chase each other in the yard.
The strong hug from what use to be my little boy, now a man.
The simple prayer of a child before sunday dinner.
Stories of long ago from the elderly I work for.
The light snore of my dh tells me he is here and life is good

I love my wind chimes, fresh hot coffee, the smell of fresh baked bread ( ok, eating it too ), chatting with my family and friends, a cool breeze, walking in the sand at the beach, my quiet time at night and a glass of wine :)

And a good book to read!

Simple things.....a few hours on a sunday afternoon for a snooze in the sun. Talking with my sons. Taking a walk or 4 wheeler ride with my husband. Fishing out on the lake. When my hubby rubs my feet (way up there on the list!!). Watching moose in our front yard trimming the willows. Getting a real letter in the mail. These are some of my favorite simple things.

-All the funny things little kids blurt out
-When my mom takes a blanket hot from the dryer and wraps it around me.
-Knowing about a school cancellation/delay the night before
- This one is really bizarre. I like seeing all the grossness that the vacuum sucked up from my room. Seeing that much ickiness and knowing it is no longer there to plague me makes me feel all squeaky clean.

Hey, I'm a bath girl too! My husband laughs at the amount of bath products I own...and I'm always adding new ones. I have to be at work at 4:30am but I still get up every morning extra early so I can soak in the tub for about a half an hour.

My children make me the happiest. I also have some great pets and friends. :queen:

I love just sitting out on my patio under the grape arbour with a book or even just a cup of coffee and enjoying the moment. Looking at the tulips, lilies or roses as they bloom. A bumble bee making his lazy way around the garden. A butterfly elegantly doing the same.

During the warm weather months I make a point of spending at least one hour a day (usually early in the morning before the rest of the house is up) just sitting out there and soaking it all in. Bliss.

Spending time with my husband and with my kids. My kids are going to all be gone all too soon so cherish the times we do have.

Spending time with friends.

Finishing a quilt.

Just a few of my favorite things.

I love to lie in a hammock under some shady trees. My brother put one up in his back yard for me when I come to visit. He has it between 2 large palm trees. His house is about a block from the ocean, so having that nice ocean breeze is a plus.

Any time my husband and I spend together makes me happy. We have often said - gosh I can't believe____ didn't come with us. Then we have looked at each other and said "I'm glad they didn't I am so happy sharing this with just you":p
6 years together and it's still true:D

I know this is probably going to sound lame, but eating dinner w/ my whole family makes me happy. My DH works so much that he is rarely home when me and the kids eat dinner, and usually eats late so dinner at the "Family Table" with my hubby AND kids is always a good thing at my house. :)

Too many to name, but a few things are: Getting hugs from my dogs, planning a vacation, the first Spring day, making a new aromatheraphy scent that I love, talking with a friend, watching a TV show with my husband, getting to bake something and then actually getting to eat it!

I love the smell of bacon frying and coffee brewing in the morning. It reminds me of waking up at Grandma's on the weekends when I was a kid. She always made a big breakfast for Grandpa.

I also love opening up a brand new book by one of my favorite authors. And, like many others, that first sip of coffee in the morning is delicious!

One of my most favorite simple things to do is take a walk in the woods. We have a nature reserve very near us with all kinds of trails to walk on..nothing better after a stressful day at work. I also love a lazy day of fishing with our grandson..it is so much fun watching him catch fish in the boat as we slowly go around the lake on a sunny day.

I love that there are sisters on GGG! I bet that y'all had a great breakfast and everyone in the place wished that they were related to y'all!

Whenever my sister is in town we like to go to breakfast together too! Y'all just reminded me of our "family tradition".

I love sitting on my backporch with my puppies. Especially my favorite: Dora Mae. Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, the backporch is even better.

Seeing my kids is always high on my list.
