Okay, fess up. Have you tried to have your teeth whitened? What did you use? The crest white strips, the goop in the tray or did you go to a dentist?

I've tried the crest white strips but after 5 days my teeth hurt.

I had to discontinue them because they really bugged me.

Anyone else?

I have had a professional whitening called Zoom. Had it done in the summer of 2004 and now I just maintain every now and then with trays and gel from the dentist. Love to smile and love it even more now!

I had it done at the dentist a few years ago (no trays, just the gel and lights). I have an enamel deficiency, so my teeth are very sensitive!!

However, I have had success at using the whitening rinse. First I used Rembrandt, but now I see that other brands are available on the shelf... try it!

Several years ago I used a whitening kit from the dentist. I had custom fitted trays and a 2-part gel.

It's not something I really thought much about until I needed to have some very expensive dental work done (long story!) but the bottom line was, I had the chance to have it done before the expensive work and it made a huge difference! I'm really glad I spent the money and did the whitening.

Now I keep my teeth looking nice with various whitening toothpastes.

I've tried the Crest strips that the dentist gives you and they made my teeth sensitive. I use whitening toothpaste, but not sure it really does much. I'll have to try the mouthwash!

I'll have to try the mouthwash!

O, just a comment on the rinse. Read the instructions! No gargling, your tonsils don't need whitening ;) It's not the same as mouthwash ;)

I had my teeth whitened with the trays/gel that you get from the dentists office. It worked pretty well, but the procedure also made my teeth very sensitive.

Now I use whitening strips every 6 months or so, along with whitening toothpaste and rinse.

I've not tried stuff from the dentist.......tried stuff you brush on at home overnight and it was nasty and I drooled it all off, lol.....couldn't keep it up. Then a few months later tried oral B whitening strips that you keep on only a short period of time each day. They were kind of thick, tasted nasty, and I couldn't finish the full pack. Do the Crest strips taste bad? How about the stuff from the dentist? I drink too much cola and coffee and my teeth are a scary hue, lol!

I was thinking of having my teeth whitened professionally by the dentist which is done in 1 hour & lasts for 5 years at a cost of $600, but I changed my mind when the dental hygienist told me to try Crest Whitestrips which are just as good with results that last up to 18 months. She also told me that the whitening toothpastes are very bad & abrasive for teeth & do nothing for whitening purposes. I feel very confident about the Crest Whitestrips now because the info. came from a good source... but I haven't tried them yet. :D

Can't say if this is good, but it works. Try a *small* amount of hydrogen peroxide swished around teeth for about 5 minutes a couple of times a week & you will notice. Look at ingredients on store bought strips & gels...it will contain peroxide! Do not swallow just rinse afterwards & due this method after your regular brushing. Don't believe...stain an egg shell in coffee or tea and then sit in peroxide & see!

I currently use the Crest White Strips. Like others, my teeth become sensitive so then I also use the Sensodyne toothpaste when I am using the whitening strips.

I've spent the big bucks at the dentist for the custom trays and gel and the Crest works just as well.

The things we will do... :)

I just got my Crest Whitestrips & I'm going to start using them tomorrow, so I'll let everyone know what happens! I'm excited to get rid of up to 14 years of stains like it promises & because my dental hygienist assured me that it works just as well as the costly 1 hour treatment! I'll be flashing my white teeth & smiling more aterwards! :D

I had my teeth whitened at the dentist (trays/gel) and it was only $150. I had it done through a participating Smiles for Life dentist. Crown Council dental teams donate their services, and Discus Dental donates all of the whitening supplies. When you pay for your whitening, you write a check to the Smiles for Life Foundation, not to the dentist. Smiles for Life benefits children facing serious health conditions.
Hope this helps. If you want more info just email me.

My dentist charges $600 for the one hour whitening treatment, which lasts for five years. The tray/gels are to do touch-ups a year later etc. I live in Canada & don''t know if the program you're describing is available here. I haven't heard of it.

I am from the Baltimore Maryland area and found the dentist by referral. Later, I found the website. Try visiting smilesforlife.org to search by postal code to see if there is a participating dentist in your area.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I received my "Crest Whitestrips Premium" from E-bay & started using them on Valentines Day, so I'm on my 5th day today & I'm happy to report that my teeth are noticeably "whiter"! :D My teeth are a bit sensitive, but nothing I can't handle. I have 2 days left & can't wait to see how white my teeth will be! They have a new Crest whitestrips called "Renewal" which is supposed to remove 20 years of aging stains off teeth in 10 days! Next time I'll try that one! Does anyone know if it's okay to use a second box right after the first one? I've heard that "Crest Vivid White" toothp[aste is great for maintaining whitening as well! I think I'll be smiling a lot more! :yahooo:

I had the one hour whitening process done at a Brite Smile center and it was great, but pricey. I had many comments and people could immediately see the difference.

It was a tiny bit uncomfortable, but I kept telling myself it would all be over in an hour - you can do most anything for 1 hour. My mouth was a little sensitive for a day or so.

I've been told by my dentist to be careful about whitening too much...that it can cause a grayish cast to your teeth! So ladies, don't overdo it.

Oh - I would love to have the dentist do it - and they ceratainly do offer... all the time! But, it is still rather spendy for me. However, I do love my java!

Recently, I got some samples with an order from an online store I frequent for GoSmile. I tried the little samples, despite my skepticism, and wouldn't you know?! THey worked! My hubby even noticed right away, after one sample vial, and I had not even told him what I did! :D

That did it for me - I ordered more and I just got it in the mail today! I also find that it refreshes breath very well so I plan to replace the pack of gum in my purse with a few ampoules of GoSmile. I do not plan on using them everyday as the product indicates but rather once in a while to whiten and not on the teeth to freshen.

I also love the way their toothapaste tasted. I have used the same great toothpaste for fifteen years (Elgydium) but I am going to use GS as of tomorrow! I don't know how it is for whitening, I will be using it for the taste.

I also got a tube of SuperSmile but I have not tried that yet.

PS - I had heard people say the CrestStrips were pretty good but I had not heard that about sensitivity - thanks for sharing! I think I will wait to try that one. ;)
