We have had very strange weather this winter. In November, we had one Saturday where there were tornadoes all over the state and then on Tuesday a big snowstorm. During December, out temps dropped to around zero and below (not normally that cold then) and then January, we were warmenr than normal, one of the warmer January's on record. December, lots of snow and January, hardly any.

All I can say is that what we thought was normal is not normal.

Our winter has been really weird, mostly mild. The temps are fluctuating so much. I am in Texas so keep in mind when I say cold, it's not really cold. We've had cold temps of 50 one day, only to be 70 the next. Everyone I know has been commenting that the weather has been really weird.

I'm in Texas, too, and it's been a warm winter. I've had to breakout my scarves only twice! And that was near the first part of December. I think I've worn my coats 5 times. And I got a new coat this past year and have only worn it twice! I was so eager to wear it, although, I must say I am loving the warm winter! I'd prefer the heat to the snow. ;)

I'm in Canada's National Capital Area (near Ottawa) and this is usually the coldest time of the year with seasonal averages of -6 C and often temperatures as cold as -30/-40 C. That is very cold!!!

This year, we've had lots of snow and lots of rain :hmm: We've had floods in the middle of January ... I don't think it's ever been heard of!!!

This week-end is the start of our annual winter festival (Winterlude) and it's raining :grr:

I'm in Indiana and we just had the warmest January on record in about 120 years. It was very unusually warm (in the 40s and 50s for highs). And this was after a very bitterly cold & snowy spell between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's currenly down to the 20s and snowing, so we might be starting back into having real winter weather again.

In Rhode Island, we had our warmest January on record since 1950. Starting Monday we're being told that normal winter temperatures will be returning, and we may even get a winter nor'easter next weekend. Gosh I hope not, but we'll just have to wait and see.

We've had lots and lots of rain this winter, but so far only around 15 inches (total) of snow.

Ditto the warmer than average winter weather for northern minnesota, too. It has also been very grey and gloomy. Until today i don't think we had a full day of sunshine since around Christmas. Depressing, but it was nice and sunny today.

We too had warmer than average January, 4th warmest since they started keeping record. In addition, snowfall has been next to nothing. Around here, when you hear 'Buffalo, NY' you think snow capital, well it isn't, we just get a rep for it...snow is actually south of us, southern outlying suburbs...I'm East of the city and out of any snowbelts and get less snow, but this year there is even little snow in the snowbelts...awesome!! Unfortunately, it turned colder this week, 20's but even that doesn't feel bad. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather doesn't start a lake effect storm machine, then we'll be in the news again...but so far, mild, mild January...it had not been bad around here since thanksgiving, which was freaky weather besides...

For the last few years we have not had the normal amounts of snowfall. I have only rode my snowmobile twice in the last three years, that is sick!!! I enjoy the snow, not the cold. This has been the warmest January in 160 years for sure, the pioneers were keeping records then. Can't say I mind toooo much. I am wondering why though.

It is 80 degrees here in the San Diego area. We are having extra warm temperatures and Santa Ana winds which are usually in the early fall. We need rain badly! We are having fires in the mountains which are fed by these winds. You might remember the horrible fires in LA, Orange, and San Diego counties a few years ago. These are the same kind of winds, but that hapened in October. It is really weird weather for us, usually it is in the low 60's in Feb. with lots of rain. Yet it is very cold (for us) at night. Last night it was 46 degrees. I think there is something to this Global Warming stuff.

Here in Michigan we've had especially weird weather this winter. While we did have snow for Christmas, the January thaw outdid itself and everything melted. We had tons of icy mornings -- so many that between ice and snow, our kids have lost 9 days of school already. Last week, during an especially blustery blizzard, we had a weird phenomenon called "Thunder Snow" where there is actually thunder and lightening going on during the snowstorm!

Felt like we could have been on another planet.

Warm temps up in the 60's one day then freezing the next. Rainy one month then windy and cold the next. This past weekend we have had snow and ice. Tomorrow temps are expected to go up to 50 (it is in the upper 20's right now) then drop in the teens by the weekend and they are calling for a mixed bag of snow and rain. It is CRAZY weather!

I own a consignment store. We couldn't get the sweaters and coats to budge off the racks until we had the first snow then they were flying off the racks. It is feast or famine around here weather wise. Personally though I am so ready for spring! Bring on the sun and warm temps!

I am from TX also, and the weather here is strange. One day last week it was 80 and then the next we were in the lower 30s. It makes no sense. I have always here the quote "if you come to tx and don't like the weather, stay a couple of days, it will change."

I know! One day it's 80 and the next day it's freezing and sleeting outside. I love the 80 degrees but am hating this 30s and 40s stuff!
