I had my annual review this week. It was absolutely great! I thought it would be, but it's always nice to hear the words and have it in writing. My boss said that she didn't have a bad word to say about me and neither did anyone else. :D

That's the good part. The bad part is that she said that our reviews weren't tied to our merit increases. I think she was prepping me for a small raise. One of the things I don't like about my boss is that she's not one to push for you. That is, she knows I deserve a good raise, but I don't think she's willing to push her boss, or she's just looking at the budget of our department.

I did let her know that my only problem with the job was my salary. She is well aware that I used to make alot more money. I told her that I was conflicted, in that I liked my job, the people, location was great, but the money is really becoming an issue for me.

I know that I really shouldn't complain too much because I do have a decent job, and I am free to find another. But I am not one to job hop,the hours and location are really great. And I really do like my boss and know that she appreciates what I do.

I should hear before the end of the month what the end result is. So my fingers are crossed tightly and I am really hoping that she will come through for me this year. :hi5:

:hi5: Great review! I think you did great in talking about your salary needs. I think so many go into the review, listen to the comments and are afraid to approach the topic of $money$.

Keep us posted on how things go with the salary adjustment (if a raise comes along)....

There is much to be said for good location, good job, good environment.....as I know many with great pay and lousy work environment, screaming boss, terrible work conditions...and its misery.

Hopefully you can have both: great job with great pay!

Thanks Kathy! I know that money isn't everything as I have been in a high stress enviornment, making the big bucks. It was only when I was laid off that I realized what that job was doing to me and my health.

I do want it all though. No stress, great job and big bucks! :D

I will keep you posted. I should know something by the end of the month. I am fairly sure that I am going to get a raise, the amount is what I don't know.

Congratulations on your review. They can be so stressful!

I had mine just before Christmas. Teachers in SD only get them every other year and money isn't an issue. Our contracts are negotiated by the union and we have no say. We just step or lane change accordingly.

My review was awesome though. I am lucky and have a principal that thinks highly of me and she writes amazing reviews. I think she writes me better than I am and then I spend the next two years trying to live up to that!

I am still waiting on the final result. I was quite pleased with myself that I did go into my boss's office and ask outright if/when the raise was coming. I was told that she has made her recommendations and had sent it on to her boss. She had started to say that I would be pleased, but stopped. She said she didn't want to say too much because her boss could change things.

So, I don't know if she was trying to appease me, or if she really did step up to the plate. I will know by March 15th.

Ugh, it's such a long process working for a big corporation. Even after two years I am just not used to all the red tape. I am used to working for a mid size company where you go in, they review you and you know right away what your increase, if there is one, is going to be.

:hangin: <------- that's me until March 15th :D

:yahooo: I received my letter today! They actually put it in writing where I work. I was sooooooo pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting what I received, and while it's not what I made at my old job, I am soooooo happy. :cheerlead

My boss gave me lots of kudos and told me that her boss even went to bat for me. They had to go to human resources to work something out so they could go beyond the *budget*.

I definetly had an attitude adjustment today! :signlol: A good one that is! :D

I am glad some employers give out praises and nice reviews Where I work we get ours at the end of the year and our bonus is based on it, some point system and hours worked, and company profit for the year ...thing is they NEVER have anything kind to say to any of us , they just seem to bring up any mistake or issue to make you feel humiliated , I really feel they should call this HUMILIATION BONUS they can insult/humiliate you then hand you a ck the following week and all is good !!! The last 2 years I never even cashed them I dont want anypart of the $$.

Thanks for sharing in my joy ladies!:friends2: I am still walking on air. And I received more good news today, the annual bonus that was talked about at the beginning of the year has been approved. :hi5:

I had been thinking about starting to look for other employment, but something kept telling me to hang in there. :hangin: The job itself wasn't bad and considering my health problems, the hours and location are fabulous. I am so happy my instincts were right to just keep hanging in there. :bliss:
