One tip that I read often for increasing your activity level is to park your car in a spot farther away from the store or mall you're going to. So often I see people circling the parking lot looking for that spot that is 50 feet away from the front door. Why not choose a spot farther back and take those few extra steps? Except if it's raining. ;)

I'm the Queen of parking in the boonies! I do it because I don't like my car messed up by people who are inconsiderate with the doors of their cars. :grr: I don't mind the extra steps at all!

I always say that I'm going to take the stairs instead of the elevator & park further to walk more....but I never do it!

I sit at a computer most of the day and have found it help ful to use a timer that pops up to remind me to get up and stretch. If you are interested in doing this, just do a search for automatic timer reminder, and you should find some sites that offer one for free. It really helps to break up those long sitting sessions.

That's what a friend and I do too. It started because she isn't very good at parking :D.
I also take the stairs instead of the elevator when possible.

I suppose doing housework adds up if you think of it. Sweeping the floor, mopping, dusting, washing dishes, wiping counters, cleaning the bathroom etc. are all forms of exercise aren't they? If we do this instead of nothing each day, our homes will sparkle & we'll burn some calories won't we? :D

Cleaning my house has been my new workout regimen. I have been cleaning bigtime, adding extra steps, and literally spring cleaning daily for about 4 weeks.I've lost 6 pounds, my house looks great all the time and I'm feeling more energetic.

I agree with parking farther away. Along with a little exercise it also saves time. You can spend five minutes or more circling the parking lot and waiting on a space!

I usually park farther away. At first it was to protect my precious car. Then it was because I get so annoyed going up and down lanes trying to find a parking spot. It is easier and less frustrating to park farther away.
