I have now got 27 years of photos organized by year! Had almost as many negatives that I have almost finished scanning so that they are digital and don't have to worry about how to store them. :woohoo:
I bought a really need Photo Sort Organizer that has compartments in it along with dividers so I can label them by year. When I am heading out to work on my album, I can grab a compartment and work on those photos. The part that has always held me back has been thinking that I would somehow find an extra picture that just had to be in an album. Kind of debilitating! Glad that is no longer an excuse. :)
My friends and I have decided to get together every other Thursday evening to work on our albums. I work well with making an appointment for something as opposed to making time for myself.
I'm so excited to be moving forward with this now. I know that it is something very important to do for my kids and granddaughter.
Take care,
Darlene

:hellowave Darlene, Congrats on moving forward with the photos. I know it can be a daunting task, but it is so worth the time and effort.
My dad loved to take pictures and I inherited most of the pics, of which none were in albums. Most of them are now in albums, in fairly chronilogical order. There are always bound to be a few that crop up that may not be in exactly the right order. Mine are not perfect, but I so enjoy looking through the albums. :bliss:

Darlene, that is wonderful and inspiring. It can be done one we decide to do it.
When I have found one later on, I try to sneak it in in the right spot. If not, I may put a page at the end of the year or album to add those found later.

KimM -
Wow - do you have any advice or tips that you'd like to share? I've taken pictures out of the bad albums (with acid) to put into the acid-free albums. So I have those along with the other pictures. I'm trying to figure out the best way to start :)
I'm so looking forward to be able to look at these pictures in the albums and sharing them with family and friends!

I don't have any more space in my closets for photoalbums. I now put all my pictures on CD's.

Okay ladies I wish I was as inspires as you. I'm very good at taking many pictures but sadly I have far too many in drawers. Maybe I could start working them into folders in their year order first and the job won't seem like to big a hurdle. Congrats to you all for being so good with this.

I'm with AussieFriend on this one...
I'm hoping to pick up some tips from everyone. I just discovered my boys messed with my other computer and now 3 years of digital pics are "missing". Oh I think they are there somewhere..they are showing up on my screen saver...but I've yet to find them. Now mind you, my daughter is only 3.5 yrs. old...can you imagine if I don't find them?
Kicking myself for not burning them...I really need this thread..don't ya think?

Congradulations, on the photo sorting everyone.
I had a housefire in 2002 that destroyed most of my home. I was very fortunate that my photo albums were all in a basement storage room and were, mostly, salvageable. Of course, I didn't find out for the first few weeks that photographs were among the few things that the salvage company was able to save and I really thought I'd lost them all.
After we had our home rebuilt and were settled again I made scanning photos one of my priorities so that I wouldn't have that fear of losing them.
Now my problem is how to organize them a little better. I currently have over 10,000 digitial photos. I've looked at several software programs (Picassa, Adobe Photo Album, etc.) but I'm not 100% sold on any of them so far.
Does anyone have any suggestions for great album software that makes tagging, labeling by subject easy?
Keeping up with photos is a never ending task for me since I love to take pictures all the time, what I have found is that once I did my initial huge sort of photos is now everytime I bring home a roll of devleoped film I imdediately sort them into catagories then they go into organizers that I have already set out in my scrap area I seperate them into a photo box one for each child or a family one and then have another for pictures I wont be scrapping , I label and date and may even jot down some info about things I want to remember I always order doubles in case I need one for 2 catagories
