I've found a new intrigue. I have some pieces of red glassware that I love. A few days ago I was at a friends house and she had some lovely pieces of green glassware. It made me think about collectible glassware.

My mother called it Carnival glass. Do you have any? What color is your favorite?

Depression Glass is very interesting. The dishes I have seen come in a pale green or yellow. I have a friend that is a collector. She has collected many peices.

I don't know if Depression Glass and Carnival Glass is the same thing.

Carnival glass and depression glass are different. Carnival glass has an irridescent coating applied to it and the colors are more vivid than depression glass.

Depression Glass comes in a variety of colors, but the ones that that I have seen are green, pink, white and amber. It's called 'depression' glass because it became popular in the 1920's and 1930's.

Both depression glass and carnival glass can be red, Kathy, but the depression glass would be more transparent. The carnival glass would be deeper red and have the iridescent coating.

I have a sister who has some depression glass and the pieces are really very pretty.
