Does anyone enjoy watching these shows? They are tv shows on HGTV and TLC and A&E that shows a different house each week that an investor/fixer-upper purchases (hopefully at a good rate), fixes it up and tries to put it back on the market in a short time for a profit.

I'm shocked at the prices these houses get. In our city (in Dallas/FT Worth, these houses would sell for (from what I can see of the square ft and layout of the house....125,000..or less! But in LA, they are 800,000. Eeks!

I'm also shocked at the lack of experience and the goofy mistakes they make.

I love watching those shows. The choices that they make on desiging those houses. I could do so much better.

I have SkyAngel so the channel we get is HGTV, I have never seen that show. Sounds interesting. I do like What's With That House? Where they showcase really odd houses.

I love the fixer upper shows! I am aghast  at the prices. My dh says they mainly show California and west coast houses as that is where flipping can make you some money. It's doubtful you could make that much here in Texas.

They do make some goofy mistakes. Which show has the advisor? Kirsten? She tries to advise them, but rarely do they listen.

Some of the stuff they do is painful to watch. My sister-in-law is working on a discovery channel show as a painter and they have her leave the last little part for the host. It's too funny what really goes on behind the scenes.

I like this TV show. I'm a bit tired of the reruns as I rarely find them on TV but when I do, I see a show I have already seen.

I also like the Real Deal, Real Estate Pros with Richard, Ginger and that gang from South Carolina. They are a funny bunch of people.

I love watching those shows, I also wonder why they don't take advice from experts. If they did it could save them a lot of headaches and $$$$$$$$. I think it would be fun to do, but I am afraid if I put that much time and effort in something I would want to move in to it myself ;) .

I agree Poppie. It always amazes me when they say: These are first time property flippers. Kristen comes in and tell them how to do it fast and inexpensively to get in and out quickly and they do not listen. They add things, move walls, torch the kitchen and install granite. It amazes me the costs of their flip and then they sit on the market, time and money ticking away.

I love both of those shows. I think I could do much better than some of the redo's Iv'e seen. I think if they would listen to the hosts more they would do better. I can not believe the prices of some of those house's. I watched one the other night that went for close to 500,000 and it was not much bigger than mine....I didn't pay near that for mine here...I guess our real estate is way cheaper here. I could buy a mansion here for that.
