If you are suffering from winter, itchy skin, what do you use to relieve the symptoms?
The air has been so dry in Texas that although it isn't cold, the dry air makes my skin extra dry and itchy.
A humidifier helps me along with staying away from hot baths (although it is one of my pleasures on a cold night!)
Do you have any things that work for you?

It's so dry here in Colorado too! Along with running a humidifier in the bedroom at night, I apply Neutrogena Body Oil after my shower while my skin is still damp, and then slather on lots and lots of Lubriderm lotion.

My skin has been terrible. I think it is partly due to the hysterectomy. I run that humidifier on high every night. I put a pretty heavy duty skin cream on at night and baby oil after my shower. It all seems pretty drastic, but is helping.
I have also made certain I am drinking more water during the day. I am trying to hydrate from the inside out. I guess it can't hurt!
Drinking lots of water & using a good moisturizer should help with winter dryness. A humidifier indoors helps combat dryness from electric heating. :)

I use lots of lotion. I like St Ives Whipped Silk. It seems to work the best for me, doesn't feel oily or greasy. My husband and I have talked about getting a humidifier, I know my mom always had one, but we haven't bought one yet. I wonder how much of a difference it would make?

I noticed a big difference with my humidifier within a few days. My husband went out of town for 10 days and I forgot to refill it. After about 3 days of it not running, I knew it! I won't give this one up!

I am not sure where to find it but a great lotion for dry, itchy skin is Stokolan skin care cream. My hubby gets it from work so I am not sure where to buy it, but once you try it you will be hooked!
Also, remember to use a moisturizer that has plenty of water in it because water is what is going to re-hydrate dry skin and replace its moisture.

Kathy,
I have had great success with Aveeno products and the oatmeal bath.
Hope this helps

I use Oil of Olay on my face, and then for my body, I use their new lotion Quench, and I just bought their new Ribbons body wash, but haven't got to try it yet.
I get what I call "ash" on my skin, and this lotion makes it go away & slowly, I'm not seeing it come back as often.

I highly recommend "Emu Oil" it works well on dry legs , elbows etc, I was amazed at the results I saw with a child I know with chronic eczema. I find the chlorine drys me out.

I use SBC Collagen first and after it has soaked in then put on Oil of Olay on my face. Elizabeth Arden Eight hour cream is WONDERFUL for lips and many other areas :)

I live in IL. and the winters here came be very hard on my skin. I also have eczema, so that makes matters worse. I also love the hot baths and can't give them up. I just only stay in them maybe 10 min. then get out and use baby oil all over. I also have a dermatolgist and he has me useing products from Eucerin. They are very good, I really like the calming creme. I use that everyday, it really helps with the itching.

Aveeno for extra dry skin...but also exfoliate 1-2 times weekly & always apply after shower when it will soak in the best.

Sometimes exfoliating extremely irritates my skin so easy on the exfoliation by physician's request. I went to a dermatologist for what I thought was a small allergic rash on my arms. They put me under a light that was bright enough to surgery under. I came out of the doctor's office with four prescriptions all caused by dry skin. I couldn't believe dry skin could cause so my things. She also game me a list of the products I should absolutely not use. Vaseline Intenseive Care Products was at the top of the list.

I love the Aveeno products as well. I used to buy Gold Bond, but Aveeno is far better. I think the Oatmeal helps with the itchy skin. The Oil of Olay products are good too.
