Its time for a confession. When my kids were little and my husband was away on a trip, I would sometimes feed them junk food.

:D

I called it Silly Supper.

We would have root beer floats, popcorn, chocolate chip cookies and whatever else they wanted: Pizza, hamburgers, fries.

While it wasn't often, it was a fun thing to do.

Husband was (and is!) a health food nut so this wasn't an option while he was home. ;)

We would also, usually, enjoy a favorite movie on video while we sat on the floor and ate our Silly Supper.

My kids (ages 26 and almost 28) still mention those meals from time to time.

Oh, am I glad to hear this. There were a few times in the summer when my kids were young, that we would have ice cream for dinner. It would be too hot to cook and everyone loved it. Frequently, pbj's would be made later, but my kids thought I was the coolest for letting them have dessert for dinner.

They, too, still mention it!

I always loved when Mom went out of town. It only happened maybe twice, but dad can't cook so we got fast food every night!!

Well, I do something similar. I go to the grocery store and get all finger foods(pizza bites, cheese sticks, and any other frozen food item that looks good and is kind of snacky). Pop it all in the oven and everyone gets to choose what they want. The kids absolutely love it!

I remember those chocolate chip cookie silly supper nights! I still eat frozen yogart as my supper sometimes. ;) I think it's fun to break the rules sometimes. I'm definitely going to do this for my kids whenever I have some. :D

I do a similar thing with my kids. We have "indoor picnics" where I put a picnic cloth on the floor in the family room (the cloth is waterproof so easy clean-up if they spill!). They watch TV while eating popcorn and other foods we usually don't let them have for a meal. They love it! It's nice for me too as I don't have to cook and clean-up is easy with using paper plates (they have really cool animal-shaped paper plates now). Sometimes you just have to break the rules and do something different and create neat memories for your kids.

I come from a family of seven and once in a while, we would eat homemade icecream and cake for dinner. We could have all we wanted, which was a real treat. I did this with my boys too... what fun! :)

We used to have "Backwards Dinner" sometimes, where we ate dessert first. Or a picnic dinner on the living room floor. The kids loved it ! I intend to carry on these traditions with my grandchildren.

We do breakfast for dinner. Chocolate chip pancakes, fruit, sausage, scrambled eggs, etc. :p
