Hi
Be interested to hear if anyone of you are tattooed, what you have and why. Also is this the right forum to post this, wasnt sure if it should go under "Beauty" or "Hobbies" or where....?
Look forward to your stories and tat descriptions.....

Wow, I am the first to reply to this post, not sure if that is good or bad; I have a tat that I have had since 1998. It is a butterfly that is on the outside of my left ankle. It was a personal choice that I made after a lot of research. I waited 6 months before actually doing it once I decided it was what I wanted.
I am still very happy with my choice and would probably do it again.

I do! It was sort of a statement of independence. I am a huge Jimmy Buffett fan, and 2005 was the 20th anniversary of the Key West store and restaurant. They have a great logo for their 20th - a parrot (Jimmy's fan's are called ParrotHeads) with a fin up, holding a margarita, wearing a baseball cap. He is standing on a banner that says "growing older but not up . . ." and also the dates 1985-2005. I got it for my birthday last fall, which was my 50th, I changed the 1985 to 1955. It's on the outside of my lower right leg, not quite the ankle, cause it's not tiny.
The independence part: since DH turned 50 and decided he needed to file for a divorce so he could do things for himself without worrying about what anyone else thought, I decided why not? I'd always thought I might want something but really hadn't sen anything I felt like making a permanent part of my body til I saw the Margaritaville 20th logo.
The joke in my family is I'm the good one, don't drink, never smoked, never did drugs, etc etc. My younger sister, who was always a wild child has 2 tats and she and her DH have a Harley. Now I have shown that I may have a slightly wild streak.

Thanks for sharing! I have 2 celtic wrist bands , the one on my left was a Mothers Day gift when I was 30. The one on my left i designed and is knot work and scottish red deer (my background has scottish roots). I designed a celtic cross that is on my spine (when our oldest son was headed to college I kept fretting and DS said one day "Mom, have a little faith in me" and thats sort of where the inspiration came from). I am currently working on a half sleeve (left arm), a memorial to my Dad. I came up with some images and my tat man put it together. I have 7 1/2 hours into it and about another 5 to go. I am very pleased with it.
Would love to hear more from you ladies....maybe you dont have a tattoo, but hubby, S/O, kids have one that you would like to discuss???

I have 5. The first I got at 19, and it was on a whim. It is on my ankle, it is a rose with the vines wrapped around my ankle. The next one I got was on my upper arm, it is a fawn holding a rose in it's mouth, I got it because in my culture, deer are symbolic. Then I got a wolf, standing on a rock, howling at the moon, it is on my shoulder. I am part of the wolf clan, so it seemed fitting. I got a dolphin on the lower part of my abdomen, almost in my pubic hair. That was also a whim. And my last one is my husbands name, written across my upper back. I figured we have been together for 22 years, I don't think he's going anywhere, and even if he does, I will always love him and be a part of his life.
I don't regret any of my tattoos, and am actually thinking about getting another one, on my lower back. I would like something tribal with the Cherokee Seal in the middle.

I personally do not have one. I am not a big fan of tattoo's however my daughter has asked if she could get one when she turns 18. I told her to do research and make sure she finds one that she will be able to live with as it will be there forever. When she turns 18 I will buy one for her. That is now just 6 months away... and i am gettin a little nervous about it... she is going crazy trying to find one she likes. My son when he was 14 had his friend put a small cross on his hand between his thumb and finger. He to this day regrets it as he says it looks cheap.

I have one that I got for myself. It is in a place that no one can see everyday. Its basic, 3 stars one inside the other, only black no color. Great significance to me. Never will regret it, used to want more, but I am satisfied with this!! I am all for tattoos as long as there is thought and reason to what your getting and where!!

I have 9 tattoos..I was just going to get one when I was 21 but after the first one, I haven't stopped. These are my tats 1) small sun side of back 2) sun bottom of back
3) sun around belly button 4) star behind ear 5) wings on back 6)my sons initials on back of my neck 7) butterfly on front of ankle 8) butterfly almost on side of body and finally
9) chinese writing on my wrist. They all have a "meaning" behind them, some more obvious then others. I think it is great when people get tattoos, my mom was 58 years young when she got her 1st one, now she has 3!! I think they are beautiful and most of the time have a wonderful meaning!

Im going for my first. I have wanted one for a very long, long time. I will be turning 40 this month and my kids are grown. I started at 16!! Anyway, my husband of almost 23 years asked what I wanted and I replied a tattoo! Im getting a cross with a ribbon draped around it. The cross will show what looks like birthstones of my children and the ribbon will represent the 2 children I lost due to miscarriage. I can't wait!!!!!!! Im so excited.

but its her choice once she is 16,,,
In Maine you have to be 18 to get a tattoo, can't do it younger than that even with parental permission.
My DD is getting one for her 27th birthday in a couple of weeks, it's what she wanted. Turtles on her lower back.
I don't have a tatoo. Mom would have and still would kill me. haha! I did get my belly pierced the day I turned 21. You would have thought I committed a crime. Mom was so mad. :)

I am going for my first tattoo next week on Thursday!!
I will be getting it placed on my stomach to the leftof my belly button but more waist height...
I will be getting a lotus flower with three butterflies coming out of it. The flower will have a damaged petal symbolizing my miscarriages and the three butterflies with by symbolic of my three children. I am allowing them to pick their colors they want their butterflies to be.
Hubby has like 5 of them and he told me to make sure my first one is meaningful and in a location where I am able to easily look at it everyday.
I'll let you know how it goes!!

Well I guess if i counted mine individually it would be around 22 tattoos. I started when i was 18 and I am now 35 and still going. I have used my tattoos as a healing process for myself. Everytime I have encountered something so powerful that it has changed my life, I get a tattoo done to signify the strength I have gained from that experience. I am in the process of doing a complete backpiece which is basically the story of my life, it is very powerful and beautiful to look at. I also have around both of my ankles done and down the top of my feet complete with a toe ring on each foot. Most people are very shocked when they see my tattoos for the first time, they say I don't seem the "type" To some i explain the significance and strength behind my tatts but to others i just let them think what they'd like. I love my tattoos, they are part of what makes me who I am......some people put art on their walls.......i just choose to put it on my skin.

I have 2, one on each ankle. I have a red and orange treefrog....for a long time treefrog was my internet nickname and that is how I indentified myself. During that time I was severaly depressed and posted mostly to depression support groups and boards and identify that nicks with that period of my life. It is a reminder of where I was and where I am, and how far I've come. Besdies, it's cute! :)
The other is a Duran Duran symbol. I've been a fan for over 20 years an finally decided to get it. It's 2 interlocking Ds. Unless you're a fan, you wouldn't know what it means. A lot of people think I'm crazy to get that, but I thought about it a long time. The only thing I regret about it is getting it done all in black. But I can always have some colors added later around the design itself.
I really want another one, but can't decide on what to get, and have to make sure it's something I really want, since tattooes are forever. I'm not even sure now though, if I *can* get one. Was diagnosed with RA this past year and am taking meds that supress the immune system. Even though the equipment is sterile, it still leaves a "wound", and I imagine the risk of infection would be pretty high.

Yep I got one! I have my nickname GENI down my right calf. My husband had his name on his calf when we met, and I thought it was kinda cool. Now I wish I had never gotten it. I just think that when I wear a skirt or shorts, that it looks tacky. I guess I should have put it somewhere else!

02-12-2006, 09:52 AM
I have one - a Lady Bug!!! I think it surprised everyone except my husband. I am 52 and have always been one of the "straight arrows" by all outward signs. I chose the Lady Bug for a special reason. I'm not sure who was more pleased - my mom or me. She said, "Finally, you have done something different!!"

I have 3. I waited until I was 30 to get the first one. It is a rose on my left ankle. Then at 35 I got a shamrock on my right shoulder with Irish in a banner underneath. I just got my 3rd one (at 48) 3 weeks ago. It is the praying hands with In memory of on top and Daddy on the bottom on my calf.

It's only recently (well, a couple of years already) that I thought that a little Celtic thing around my forearm might be nice, but my parents were in the concentration camps, so that is that.
I do admire nice subtle work when I see it on others, though.

I've been seriously thinking about a memorial one for my "Tio" over my heart. :)

Hey ladies! I also have tattoos. The first one I got was a Pisces symbol for my mom, who was a pisces, after she died when I was 21 in '98 and then I got a purple butterfly after my daughter was born in 2000 and then added a blue butterfly above it for my son when he was born in 2004. I also had some shading and designs added at that time to make the 2 tattoos into one. I am currently working on some disigns for more. One is a mother symbol I have come up with and I am also a cancer survivor so I am trying to think of something meaningful for that. If I could afford it, I would have a lot more! My husband has some as well and is also thinking of more. Among others, he has our childrens names tattood on his chest.

I am going in tomorrow morning for my first one!! I decided not to get a lotus flower but a stargazer lily. That is more my type anyways...I am still going to get the three butterflies flying out/away from it. Was thinking of having the medium butterfly closest to the flower as my middle son and I have an amazing bond and he will always be close to me... I'll post and let y'all know how it all turns out!

I've got two tats. My first one I got when I was 36, and is a henna design of a flower. It was orginally done in just black, but last year I got it colored and shaded with purple and green.
Just about a month ago, I got a peacock /phoenix / bird of paradise, depending on who you ask what it looks like. http://www.gravedetail.com/peacock.jpg It's on my left shoulder/back, so it's facing the other way.
And yes, it did HURT along the ribs! But it's not going to stop me from more ink!

I have been married 33 years, but even I would not put my dear hubby's name on me nor expect mine on hime. It is a personal thing.
When I got my Lady Bug, a friend with me was wanting to put her boyfriend's name on her. I talked her out of it - good thing - they are no longer together. She has her own name and her children's names on her. I understand that. Names of others just don't seem like a good idea to me. No matter how much you love someone, there might come a time when you regret that decision.

Thanks ladies!
I guess the biggest comment about it is that it is so big for a first time tattoo...kinda as if people are wonderful if I did the right thing or not. I know that I did the right thing and all...guess it is the whole shock value of getting one as it is so permanent. Even DH who has several tat's was surprised at how big it was. He is out of town and will see it in person tomorrow afternoon.
I didn't sleep well last night...I'm a side sleeper but that will get better as it heals up.

I got my 2 tattoos in my 30's - one at 34 to celebrate my independance after my hyst. It is a violet at the small of my back - that is my grandmother's name and my birth (and favorite) flower.
The next year I wanted one that would occasionally show, so I got a turtle on my right shoulder in shades of green, purple and pink.
I am seriously contemplating have one more - I saw it on a friends foot. It is a mama sea turtle and 2 babies (I have 2 girls like her) across her foot. Only problem is my current emploer doesn't allow tattoos to show. My others never do, but I have some strappy sandals and these might. Still thinking, but I just turned 41 and it's kind of a celebration for me - I love my 40's (mostly because no one believes I'm 40! ;) )

The first one I got is on the outside of my ankle and is 3 hearts and some little curlicues (3 is my favorite number and I got it for my 33rd birthday). I later added the Bluebird of Happiness.
On the outside of my other ankle I have a rose that I got when I took my daughter for her first on her 18th birthday (I had told her several years before that if she still wanted one when she turned 18 that I'd take her, since I knew she could then legally get one anywhere on her own). I may add little symbols for each of my grandchildren one day.
On the inside of one ankle I have a heart with my children's initials and 3 flowers that signify each of us.
My other one is a tiny little heart for my husband's eyes only...
I hope to get another one in about a week to commemorate the 3 months I'm spending in the Philippines. Where better to get an Asian symbol than in Asia?

I have one tattoo on the back of my upper right shoulder. It's a Betta fish. First one the artist had ever done. It turned out bigger than my husband or I expected, but I'm very happy with it. I'll have to post a pic to the photo section of this site when I figure out where it is. LOL - (I'm new). I got it because at the time we were really into Bettas (guess we still are - we have several). :-D
I intend on getting an Autism Awareness Ribbon done at some point, and I'd really like to get one done of Bugs Bunny and The Pink Panther "hangin' " with each other.

I have 2 tats. One is of a unicorn on my left leg next to my ankle with my oldest daughters name under it. My other one is on my right leg next to my ankle of eeyore with my other daughter's name under it. I love both of my tats so much that I am thinking of getting another one. This one I am thinking of putting it on my lower back of a 10 point buck with Dad under it. I lost my Dad in August and he was a really big hunter. And the buck would represent him.

I have 3 tats. I love them all and have no regrets. My first one is a vine around my left ankle with daisies and mine, my husband's, and my 2 boys' names. I call it our family vine...we're connected, and our lives have come full circle.
My second one is on my lower back. It is a tribal vine with daisies, 4 leaf clovers, and little rose accents. Daisies are my favorite flower and I love all things Irish. I got this as my gift to myself for losing weight.
My third is a small heart on my right ankle with my middle name (Coja) in it. It's also my great great grandma's name and my little niece's middle name.
I'm thinking about getting one more. I think I want it on my right shoulder blade. I want the Celtic sign for healer and mother. It's a beautiful knot. I just can't decide where the stopping point is so I've been holding off on this one.

I had my first tat in March 2005 - a birthday present from my husband and kids. I had wanted one since I was about 16, but am glad I waited as now I know I can live with this one forever.
On my left shoulder I have a Purple Rose in a cobweb - purple being a colour I have loved all my life, and Rose for me. The cobweb can have a few different meanings depending on my mood. I will be going back to have a spider hanging from the web at a later date. MY DH loved it so much he is getting the same on his chest.
My next one will be a dragon - to represent my DH of 20 years.

I was the last one of my siblings (4 of us total) to get a tattoo! The idea of something permanently inked into your skin kind of made me nervous...wanted to make sure it was something that I would always like.
Mine is on my lower back... it is a tribal design, but I didn't want it all black (boring!) It's an infinity sign (like a sideways "8"), and it has a square through the middle of it. I call it "infinity squared"... and brings back memories of college math classes, and also the idea that I will have it a long, long time!
It's very colorful... like a rainbow... purple on the outside of the design, fading to blue, green, yellow, orange, and red.

Hi all,
I am now 51 and for my 40th birthday I gave myself the gift of a tattoo that I had wanted ever since I was a teenager. In fact when I was a teen we had those temps that I am sure are still around and it was such a thrill to use one from time to time. I have a very simple red rose on my right breast. My son (then 21) asked why I didn't get it on my shoulder or my ankle, and I explained that I was doing it for myself and no one else and I - ME - MYSELF wanted to be able to see it!!! I have wanted others, but have not indulged myself. I am a frequent blood donor to the red cross and for a year after my tat, I couldn't donate. So I don't see any more tats in my life. I rather be able to give the gift. :)

I have a tattoo of a cross with a vine and rose on the outside of my left ankle. I had never had any desire to have a tattoo but after I turned 50 almost 2 years ago, I suddenly began feeling like I wanted to experience new things and try things I've never tried or even wanted to try before. So, a tattoo was one of those things! Getting it wasn't bad at all...hardly any pain and healed up nicely. I am glad I got it!

I had my first tat in March 2005 - a birthday present from my husband and kids. I had wanted one since I was about 16, but am glad I waited as now I know I can live with this one forever.
Whoops, I wanted to reply to this but accidentally repied to a notice (as in do not repy) of a more recent posting.
Ooooooooooops, sorry!
Did anyone see Goldie Hawn the other night on Larry King - she showed her birthday (60th!) tat!

I have a tat of a dolphin on the upper left part of my chest. I plan on getting two more. I will be getting my sons name as an arm band on my left arm and a tribal one with my grandparents initials in it because all four of my grandparents are no longer with my family physicaly. Last one past away two years ago. The tribal tat I want to get it on my lower back. I have found who I want to do all of them. We have four tattoo shops where I live.

I have a tat on my lower back. I got it about 2 years ago. I did it for myself and because of working for a school system, I have to make sure it would not be seen at work. I did it for myself. I like it. Just a special something for me. My husband got one after me. Our kids think that we are crazy. I think that if one of them every wanted to get one I would ask that they get it were it can be covered up.

Any suggestions?

On the back of my left shoulder I have my mothers initials with a halo and wings as a rememberence of her. she past a little over a 1 1/2 ago.
Center of my back I have a celtic design with a stemmed rose. and last but not least a heart on the right side bikini line.
I'm considering one more in the center of my back.

I got my tatoo when I was 18 and stationed in England with the Air Force.....that was 23 years ago...and, at the time, we were the truly rebellious uncoventional girls....now, everybody is getting tatooed! I have a butterfly on my back shoulder. I've tried to talk my husband into getting one...I think they are so hot...but, he wont do it...not sure exactly why.

Does your school district have a written policy against tattoos? I have been teaching in our school district for 25 years. I have a small tattoo on my ankle that shows when I wear capris or go without hose. I know of several people within our district with tattoos. Many are not in hidden areas.

Hi
Be interested to hear if anyone of you are tattooed, what you have and why. Also is this the right forum to post this, wasnt sure if it should go under "Beauty" or "Hobbies" or where....?
Look forward to your stories and tat descriptions.....
I have a tattoo on my right foot. It's a small daisy, with the letter "J" to the 3rd power - kinda of hard to describe, but it is for my son, daughter, and husband - all start with a "J". I'd like to add to it, make my right foot a little garden. I want a lady bug on my big toe, a bunny beside the daisy, and maybe a fairy. I guess I did it because I could.

I got my first tattoo when I was 18 and in the military, I went with a bunch of friends, I really wanted it. It was a long stemmed red roes on my upper hip. They did an AWFUL job. Just about a year and a half ago I FINALLY had it redone. I added a tribal design and the guy who did it did an excellent job it really looks like a rose now.
I made a deal with myself that as soon as I lose some weight that I will be getting one more on the small of my back.
I have never regreted the first, although I am much happier with it now, and I feel it it just another form of self expression. (My daughter got one when she turned 18, and we will go together for our second ones, just like we went together for our piercings.)

I haven't done it yet. Been waiting till I find the absolute best one. I want to symbolize my two sons in it. And My dad somehow.
My brother recently went and had one. He had a cross with the initials of each of the brother and sisters on the points of the cross..I thought that was so neat. It really meant something. My mom would die. I am 35 and she would die...lol...

This thread is interesting. I was excited when I saw it. I'm going to get my first tattoo Wednesday. I picked a butterfly. Why? Butterflies are beautiful. My husband has been trying to get me to get one for the last five years. I'm excited, scared, and nervous. The tat artist said it would take an hour!

I had my first tattoo yesterday. It's so awesome. I have a celtic cross, the ends are hearts and my 3 kids birthstones are in the cross plus I have a ribbon draped around the cross done in purple which is my birthstone and the year 1985 signifiying my 2 miscarriages. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, but the second day it really does feel like a sunburn. It's just a little bit bigger than a playing card and I have it on the outside of my right calf.

I did it! I got the rose minus the names. The artisit was great! We talked for a good few minutes before I decided to do it. He told me he could do the names the size I wanted but by the end of the month they would just look like a straight line. So I decided to just get four leaves in place of the names. Each leave represents the names I wanted on it. It's so pretty and it didn't hurt! Reading your stories was inspiration.:D

Similar situation. For years my husband wanted a tattoo and I was firm in my resistance. After years I gave in. He got his tat. I was fine with it, but not even a spark of desire to get one myself. Years later while on a girls get-away, I got one on my ankle. Hubby was thrilled. He still has no desire for another one. I, on the other hand, now would like 2 or 3 other small ones - :D (We have been married 33 + years :) )

I could never get a tattoo because I have a strong aversion to needles...not to mention pain! (I can barely stand to have blood drawn!) However, here is my question:
I have seen some tattoos that are pretty...they look like a "mini-painting" on a person's body. The colors are bright, the lines are distinctive...they look "fresh." On the other hand, other tattoos I have seen simply look gross. The outlines are blurry, the colors are muddy. You can barely decipher the image. Are these "old" ones? Can they be refreshed somehow? Do all tattoos eventually grow to be faded and blurry looking?

quality of ink, quality of artist, exposure to the elements...many things can contribute to that old fuzzy faded look.
a good artist can recolor redesign or refresh a tattoo.

I am not afraid of shots....they are quick and over with. But tattoos have a needle stuck in your skin for long periods of time and I have heard that they hurt....No Thanks!
I also would be afraid that I would hate the tattoo later in life b/c it is permanent and have heard it takes a fairly painful process to remove one.

I have a horrible fear of needles too, but that hasn't stopped me from getting tattoos. I have 3 of them....and while yes, it did hurt a bit...it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be! My first was an eagle feather that's on my right outter calf, second was a sun that's on my lower back and the last one is a "mother earth" turtle on the back of my neck. I love them all and each one has a special meaning to me.
curlyblonde
04-27-2006, 04:27 PM
They really don't hurt all that much. I do agree that you have to be careful and get something you like. Removing it can be costly later in life. The best thing... if your not sure you want it, don't get it. Also, you may want to put it somewhere where you can cover it up if necessary with clothing.

I have 2, and would like to get a third at some point.
I got my first one shortly after I married Jeff. It's a half opened Red Rose, to signify my love for Jeff, on my right shoulder. Several months after I gave birth to our daughter I got the second one....a small butterfly lightly kissing the tip of the rose petal of the first tattoo. (Signifying that Randa was born from the love that her daddy and I have for each other.)
I haven't found a design that I'm completely happy with for my third, but I do know I want a fairy or another butterfly incorporated into the original rose/butterfly design.
My third will be the final, and I want it to be something that will really personify me.

I will be getting this one added to this weekend hopefully as I have a 22 month old granddaughter who needs to be added! :D
My brother, nephew, and my oldest son are all skin artists.
My nephew did my first 2 and my son did my last and will be doing the addition to it.

I have 5 tatts and want 2 more.
The first one I got is of a single red rose, I was 18 when I got it. The second one is an arm band on my right arm that has 3 roses linked by vines. I was 34 when I got that one. The third one is on my lower back and is 3 hearts linked together with banners in the middle of each with my DH, son and daughters names. I let them pick the color of the heart for their name. I was 36 when I got the third one. The fourth one I have is a memorial tatt for my grandmother, it is 2 lillies with her initals above and her birth/death dates under, they are done in lavendar since it was her fav. color. It is on my left arm above the elbow. The fifth is a memorial tatt for my mother, it is 2 roses with her initals above and her birth/death dates under, they are done is a coral color as it was her fav. color roses. It is on the side of my left leg under the knee. I lost them 5 months apart 2 years ago. I was 40 when I got both of these done.
The 2 I want to get are.....the first is a butterfly on my right ankle to match my dd's that she got for her 17th bday. She wanted matching ones but did hers on her lower back so I chose my ankle and am going to add vines to mine. The second one I want to get will be a portrait of my grandmother on my upper back, she almost raised me and she always had my back so thats why I am putting it there.
I just have to go to LA so Kat can do it. Bet thats gonna cost me, but I don't mind it's worth it to me.
Love reading everyone's reasons and ideas for getting them.

It took me 40 years lol, but I got my first tat this past summer as b-day present from my best-friends Hubby. It's a gorgeous purple rose and is just above my right breast. I want two, just haven't got around to it. Mine is related to my nickname in the real world which is Texas Tornado and it will be the state of texas, with the Texas flag inside as well as a tornado spinning in the middle. The 2nd one I want the chinese symbol for POWER on my lower back. do ya think 15months while my hubby is deployed gives me plenty of time to sneak it in? LOL
I have been thinking of getting one in the future. I'm a recent breast cancer survivor and thought after all treatments are finished and I've had reconstruction, maybe I would get a butterfly somewhere. Still on the fence about it.

Roobea,
What a wonderful thing to do! I am looking for someone who can do an actual picture. As I stated in my previous post, I would like to do and angel in remembrance of my mother. I lost her to Lung Cancer. It will be 10 years on April 3... It seems like only yesterday. Congratulations to you and your mother for being survivors! Keep up the fight!
I always say three things you need to fight it...
FAITH, HOPE and LOVE.....

Yep, I'm tattooed.
I have a little green frog on my neck. I used to have Felix the Cat on the outside of my ankle, but that has since been removed (by laser).
And I have a Chinese character on the inside of my ankle that is my maiden name in Chinese. My cousin did the tattoo for me when my grandfather passed away in November. My maiden name dies at this generation, so this was my way of carrying on the Chinese heritage in our family and carrying on the family name.

I used to be dead set against them..... My daughter turned 18 and decided to get a tattoo. She got one on her side, which was my preference. All i asked was that it be hidden under clothes. She has since gotten a job at the tattoo shop. She has 3 more and they are beautiful one is in honor of my Dad....
She is trying to talk me into one.... I have a 12 inch incision on the outside of my left calf. I have batted the idea around of having cherry blossoms tattooed over the scar.. I saw the idea on a mastectomy patient.

I have a butterfly on my left breast. I wouldn't have ever gotten one, because my parents would have disapproved, but my parents got 2 a piece about 6 or 7 years ago and it gave me the ok I needed to do it. I was in my mid-30's at the time and my parents in their late 50's. I really want to get another one, but I don't know what I'm going to get yet. I really put a lot of thought into the first one. I'm probably overthinking the next one.

I have 6 tattoos! I have three in various (sexy) places on my back and one (which I designed myself) wraps around my ankle. And one on my left bicep which is also an aamalgamation of a couple of designs. I originally wanted to stop at 5 tattoos (which is my fave number) but then I got married and my hubby and I got the infinity symbol tattooed on our ring finer! This way even when our wedding bands are off for a bit we still see it etched there: FOREVER! Naturally I made an exception! :)

I have one on my lower back, I got it in Jan 2001. I drew it myself, its flowers and vines. I figured if I was gonna have body art on me I wanted something that I drew and not someone elses art. My husband is working on my next one. It will pretty much cover my back. Starting at the top of my shoulders and stopping close to my other tat. Its going to be a guitar with hubbys last name as the neck and my maiden name somewhere on the body of the guitar. When my son was born (my husband and I werent married at the time) hubby said that our son could take my last name cause there was no other males in my family to carry on the last name so my son has both of our last names, and when we got married I did the same thing, as well as our daughter. My husband is a musician and music is our life so that is why the guitar. He has also drawn a tree on it cause I am the tree of life, as I have sprouted 4 kids, also when our kids were born we got to check out the placentas and sure enough they look trees (we delievered out of hosiptal at a birth center) I dont know what else he is going to put on it yet, it is a work in progress. I hope it will be done by August cause that is when I will turn 30 and I would like to get it then. We shall see.

I have 4, all butterflies. Back, back of calf, upper arm and top of foot. The one on my foot is my latest and my favorite. It's 5 little butterflies across my foot like a sandal and above them are the words, "Great is thy Faithfulness" it's awesome.

I have a rose on my left boob... got it when i was 16... I wanted a puppy and my husband ( at the time ) told me I could get a puppy if I'd get a tat... That was many years ago, I don't know what pup I got OR even what it's name was or what happened to it.. lol... I would love to have a new one but just haven't gotten around to getting one

I have a cherub on my chest with my mother/daughter's name, a baby devil with a halo on my left hip, a heart with scroll with my two husband and two son's names, and then on my lower back I have NANA with a butterfly. I keep saying I'm going to get another one but not sure what I want. It's funny but when I got my first one my friend told me that they can become addicting...I guess she's right.

I have 6 tats....most of them I got with my mother. We have 2 tats that match but the rest of them are all different. The 2 matching ones we have are the hibiscus (hawaii state flower) and under that is a ribbon with each others name in Hawaiian. Then we have the ank.
My others are a purple flower on the side of my neck, a giraffe on my calf, an arrow head with howling wolf inside on my back, on my chest I have a cluster of Honu's (sea turtles) 1 larger one with an yin/yang divider on the shell. Two turtles above that one representing my parents, and then little baby turtles surrounding the mama turtle on the bottom in order of birth. Each turtle has the first letter of their name. Those represent my kids. Its by far my favorite tattoo! :D

I actually have 4 tattoos. Once you get them they are pretty addictive but I don't want to be fully sleeved or covered or anything like that. I've chosen relatively discreet places for each and I don't regret any of them. There's a rose going through a treble clef on my right hip bone, the persian word for "hope" on the lower left of my back, the phrase "per aspera ad astra" on the lower right of my back and the name of a family member on the upper left of my back in persian with a halo and wings (her name actually means angel in persian ... wasn't going for the stereotype there).

I have one tattoo. It's a blue triple moon with a black pentacle in the center, and it's on my upper left arm. I got it because the triple moon represents the 3 stages in a woman's life, and the pentacle is a general symbol of protection (contrary to popular belief). I had my ink cherry popped March 21st 2006, lol.

Hi! I have many tattoos. I think body art is beautiful when done right. Most of my right arm is covered. I have stars, a pin-up girl who resembles Ms Bettie Page with birds and cherries, and a whole lot of leopard print, and that is just my arm! =]

I have 12 tattoos. I love my tattoos and can't wait to get more. I wanted to have a tattoo that went all up my leg wrap around my back,go up my side and then down my arm. It will never happen but I think it would be nice.

I have a tattoo on my shoulder blade. I was born on my Grandma's birthday. I used to put a yellow rose on her grave every year on our birthday after she passed. After moving too far away to make the drive, I got the tattoo of a yellow rose. Most people will never see it but I know it's there.

I got my first tattoos last night. One is on my left ankle and the other on the left hip. After wanting one for several years, I finally decided I would just do it! It was something my late husband and I talked about doing together. The guy did great work and I was very impressed with the tattoo when he was finished.
