I have a sick cat and it is very difficult.....She has cancer and we have removed one of her kidneys. She seems to feel fine and purrs and plays, but I would think this will not last too long....Does anyone know how difficult chemo is on cats? I heard they tolerate it well.....Cheryl

Cheryl......sending lots of positive energy your way. I'm sure he'll be fine. People live with one kidney!

This past Sept. 11, we lost our precious Cassie (australian shepherd). She was the love of our life. She was 11. Within a week of finding out she had kidney disease, she passes. She had lots of seizures. It's still tears me up to talk about her. Anyway, each day gets easier. I'm glad she went fast and didn't have to suffer long. We still have Angel (our dauchshund), who was depressed a couple of weeks, probably because we were, and Buffy , our black cat. Both are well and doing great. How long do Cats live? Buffy is 13 years old.

Cheryl,

I will keep your cat in my thoughts and prayers. It is a good sign she seems fine and is purring and playing.

I would talk to your vet about the details of her treatment. You definitely don't want her to suffer.

Take care.

Cheryl:

I am sorry to hear about your cat. I don't know much about chemo for animals so I can't help you there.
I had a cat who passed away almost 9 years ago from kidney disease and I still miss her like crazy.
We could have done dialysis on her, but I couldn't see the point in doing that to her just to try to extend her life for my benefit. Dialysis is very hard on animals (or at least it used to be) because they have to be sedated during the procedure and it's an ongoing treatment. I just couldn't do that to her.
Hope you find some answers to your questions.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. :( It's so tough to deal with illness in pets.

My goes out to you and your family. I hope you have lots of time left with your :catmilk: .
