I like giving gifts that are events or food. Instead of a thing (for someone to take back or dust on a shelf) I enjoy giving food cards to a restaurant or tickets to a concert.
What about you? Do you have any unique gift ideas?

I wish I had unique gift ideas. It would probably make shopping a lot easier! Gift cards are always a good thing though. Who doesn't like to eat?
My best friend gave me a movie basket one time with some of my favorite movies and M&M's and popcorn. It was great! I think gifts that you can use turn out to be great gifts.
I've started being more cognizant of trying to find unique items for people throughout the year. A lot of the ones I have found are from craft shows.
Although I'm not a crafter, I would love to find something easy to make for my friends. Since they know this isn't something I do, I think they would think it is special.

These are great ideas. Once, like Kate's idea, I gave "dinner and a movie" to some friends. It was a favorite video, a gift card to a favorite restaurant, some "movie candies" and a box of popcorn. I packaged it all in a popcorn bowl. Definitely a fun thing to do. I like the craft ideas too like JC suggests. Baked goods or kitchen mixes are fun to give to friends and family.

I like to give things that I've made. My family is so big that it's the only way I can afford to give to all that I want to give to. I have several "Gifts in a Jar " type books. I make muffin, cookie, soup, drink and spice mixes. I put them in pretty jars, boskets, boxes etc. They're always a hit :)

This year I gave my older sister (who can buy just about anything she wants for herself) an "event" for her birthday. I gave her a decorative storage bin (the "permanent" gift) filled with a "date night" -- a DVD, a fleece blanket, smoked oysters and crackers, coffee beans and hot cocoa mix, cookies, and chocolate. She loved it.

I love giving theme gifts...like the movie baskets, kitchen/food baskets, gardening, etc. Also, tickets to events are a favorite of mine. This year I am asking for season tickets to musicals in the area and sporting events. I love getting out of the house and going places! I know we will be getting tickets to the rodeo as well.

I have been known to buy concert tickets and cleverly hide them with something that goes with that artist.
This year I found some artiesian bread and olive oil with a basket that everyone will get. The bowls will be useful down the road.

This year I'm giving my daughter a gift certificate to go to a glass factory so she can take a glass blowing class and make a bowl.
I hope she enjoys it!

I think the glass factory is a great idea! Let us know how she likes that. I would think anyone would really enjoy having that kind of experience and to able to come home with a bowl you make yourself is awesome!

I have 2 sons, ages 19 and 22. I am going to give them something that will make ME feel good....I am going to buy them a mini electric tire pump for their cars. These come in very cool cases about the size of a cereal box and they plug into the cigarette lighter of a car. They can pump up their own low or flat tires and get to a gas station or get off the highway safely. You can buy them in an auto parts store. This will allow me to breathe a little easier. Oh...they can also use them for bicycles and balls.

lileduk8r,
My mother bought that type of pump a few years ago. I was driving back and forth to Boston at the time and had a few leaks. It"s a great thing to have!
Thanks Kathy, I thought it'd be a neat gift too!
