If it's helping you, I'm glad, but I'm rather dubious about it, esp. after seeing a BBC program where they tested the basic theory.

That being said, we have a good sized section on homeopathy at the medical library where I work!

gentiandaisy, I have always been curious about homeopathy but also dubious. I have a daughter with MS and we have talked about her trying some alternative approaches. Could you share with us what you are doing and if it seems to be helping? Thanks for any information you can share.

I have been seeing an Osteopathic doctor for quite a few years now. She's been a big help to me with some things that western medicine doctors couldn't seem to help me with. I take many supplements and also do accupuncture. While I'm not cured, I am better than I was before I started.

If it is helping you, that's great! And that is what matters. If you're being helped by whatever medicine/supplements you're taking than it's good medicine.

My husband had real success with a homeopathic remedy for poison ivy-he was fine until his 40th birthday-then became terribly allergic, having to take steroids with every infection. Then he took some homeopathic remedy-small pills disolved under the tongue, and within a few weeks-he was noticing that his tongue itched, so he stopped taking them, but NEVER had another allergic reaction. Yes, he gets a spot now and then, but it never escallates to the former problems. We have always thought this very interesting.

I've seen Homeopathic remedies at the pharmacy for all kinds of ailments; acne, menopause, weight loss etc., but I've never tried them & don't even know what they're all about. Are they home remedies in a pill form?

I see a chiropractor that also is very knowledgable in natural medicine. Right now, we are working to strengthen my thyroid with supplements because I have gained weight on the synthroid and my GP took me off for 6 weeks, to see what happens. ditto on supplements for my pituitary gland cause I have a seizure disorder. I also use emu oil for my rosacea and it works wonders.

I'll let ya know after March 7th if my thyroid has kicked back in on it's own. If not, I have to go back on medication before I start calling the whale, "my famly" :fluffy:

Mori,
I wouldn't run out and buy remedies at the pharmacy if you're not sure of what you're buying. I only buy things on the recommendation of my doctor.

Homeopathic remedies are usually natural supplements that are used to cure some ailments. They can come in various forms; including pills, creams and powders.

Hope the info helps.

I've experimented with a few for acne. When I first started my acne cleared up but then it came back. On the other hand I know a lady that uses different ones and says it takes her pain away. If it works for you then stick with it.

I agree with Kim. Most natural remedies should be obtained from a doctor who knows how to despense them. Also, always tell your GP what natural remedies you take before he gives you a medication for anything. Some of these things don't mix. :)

I have a friend with MS (relapsing/remitting) and she said a low fat diet is KEY to keeping her healthy more than any other factor after her strong faith. She had a healing and has not had any symptoms for years, but she still stays faithful to the low fat diet.

I am riding in the MS 150 in Texas in April. I will add you to my pedal partners (people on whose behalf I am riding). Its not a formal thing. Just inspiration for me to keep on pedaling!

I strongly believe in natural remedies. Although, I think the key is WHERE you get them from. Many of the pills in drug stores are not the right way to go. There are places on line and you need to research different companys that sell homeopathic meds. If it is just one specific herb, try growing it at home.
Several of my family members have joint problems and we discovered a wonderful remedy and it is so simple and doesn't come from a drug company. It is just grape juice and fruit pectin from any food store. Mixed together and taken a couple times a day. This has given them excelent results. Sometimes the simplest NATURAL things can work, but for something serious as you have please be careful and check every thing out well. And let your doctor and pharmasist know what herbs you are taking. Don't ever give up looking. Many people are getting very sick from traditional medicine now days. Good Luck to you. P

I have been "in to" natural remedies for a few years now. I do go to an internist, but she is really good about recommending some natural methods before passing out pills. I have a muskoskeletal problem. I do take MOBIC , but I also do Yoga, meditate, take natural herbs and green foods, massages, and watch my diet. Seems to work real well, it you give it some time.
