As you head to work each day, what about your job is the toughest part?
Is it co-workers that you must work side-by-side with?
Is it a demanding boss?
Is it the actual task?
The long commute?

For me, the biggest challenge is the demanding boss. I do much better with male bosses. This one that we are all stuck with is VERY demanding, and constantly rails at the other members of my group. I think all of us are being treated by doctors for either spasming back problems or stomach problems, because of her unrealistic expectations of those in our work group.

There are two most challenging parts of my job. The first one is that I do not currently have a direct supervisor, and in the mean time I have to do much of that job in addition to my own job. That in itself is a challenge that I have lived with for a while... what is worse is when I HAVE a direct supervisor and their boss goes around them to work with me directly. That puts me in a difficult position... one that I dont like AT ALL and the last time I was in this position I talked to both my boss and their boss about the situation... I asked them to please start working together and be respectful of my need to follow the chain of command.
The other job challenge is REALLY cool. Since there have been so many changes in our external environment (due to changes in regulations and case law) we have made significant changes in how we conduct business and to our regulations. It is a HUGE task but it is fun to make these changes.
My current job challenges are #1. my co-worker. I am learning how to correctly deal with her. I've never had to deal with someone like her before. #2. My commute. It's a lot longer than what I had anticipated. Driving home is a breeze. :D Driving there is a BEAR! GRRRRRRRRR.

My biggest challenge is some of the people I work with. I get along with everyone, but there a few that I really have to bite my tongue with! I just smile and avoid them when I can. I think it's something that I have learned over the years. I used to let people get to me, but now I just smile and go in the bathroom and bang my head into the wall. ;) Just kidding! :D
I have learned that there will always be some people that you will have to put up with. I always try and put on my best smile and turn the tables. For example, there was one lady that everyone warned me about when I first started, they said she was extremely difficult and would cause me all sorts of trouble. When she would call me I would smile into the phone, be nice and helpful. Within six months, she sent an email to the president and several other bigshots about how nice and helpful I was. My supervisor's boss still laughs about it because he said that no one could ever get along with her.

For me, the biggest challenge is getting there, especially in winter months: while the commute is relatively short (30 minutes by bus) our bus system is erratic. I hate standing in the bus, and there are times when I don't have a choice.
I also hate waiting. In the evenings, I have this unbelievable knack of just missing my bus and then end up having to wait 20 minutes, in the snow and standing :grr:
Another challenge is my boss: she's wonderful and I love her, don't get me wrong!!! However, she's from another domain than the domain we're in now. In a way, I'm the only of the team with a background in traditional Information Management. So the challenge is getting her to understand how things really work and that some taks take longer than anticipated to do, just because I must rely on input from my clients... and my clients are not always considering Information Management as a priority.
I'm learning to communicate effectively, though and to get the message to pass. Furthermore, I'm also learning to think outside the box, thanks to my boss and my team-mates, who have untraditional solutions to traditional issues. And this is really cool!!
The biggest challenge right now is that the organization I work in is completely disorganized. There was a major reorganization and there are tons of new people so nobody seems to understand where we fit in or even have their own roles well defined. :(

I'd say the biggest challenge I face at work is the organization. There is none! It's only a 2 person office and the lady has her own system and she just jumps all over the place with what she wants me doing. She doesn't allow me to finish one thing until she needs something else done first. And I only work 5 hours two days a week so her thing is to tell me at 12:30 that she is leaving for me to close up what I am doing and lets go home! Grrrr... sorry.. I know for some of you it would be a breeze but I'm use to a structured office setting!

Time is my biggest challenge. I have so many tasks that need to be handled and not enough time in a day. I need there to be at least one 36 hour day each week! I don't WANT to be a workaholic. It just seems to happen!

I thiknk appearnce has a great deal to do with it. I have noticed that in upper management positions there are no obese employees. I am not talking about lose a few pounds here and there I mean true obesity. I quit my last job because they told me that dont promote big people. Big people are seen as lazy and irresponsible. I am wondering if the same mind set is here at my new job. I am trying to lose weight but I dont want to be judged on my appearance.

I have a great job. When all is well, my job is wonderful. I get to help people and it is very rewarding. I am not great at office politics, but luckily I don’t have to engage in that very often.
My dilemma – like most moms - is trying to achieve the balance between career and kids. I often worry that one of them is being neglected. My children are older now, but it hasn’t changed how much I needed by my family and how much I want to be there. I feel as though I can't let anyone down.
I also have a long commute – I drive a good 50 to 80 mins each way. Books on tape or CD save my sanity.
