I am currently unemployed applying for disability which may take up to 2 years. Is there anyone knowing of any legitimate home based employment. I am in desperate need of some kind of income.
Thanks in advance for your help. :p

There are many jobs available for those who work from home and have a computer. Post your resume on Monster.com. Browse through their listings. I know of several people who work from their home and earn a nice living.

I have just spent 2 1/2 hours looking on Monster.com and didn't find any at home opportunity that didn't require a "fee".

Try posting your name at your local college or university to type term papers...

Instead of looking up "home opportunities" look for clerical or customer service jobs that are allow home/non-communting.
The others that you describe is "self" jobs....which most are sellers of snake oil. Look for a company that has employees "at home". ;)

Also...Post your resume! The companies will find you.
Just an idea, but are you able to take some classes to learn to do medical transcripting? I know that local universities and community colleges offer classes where you can learn to do this over a short period. Then you can work from home doing this!

May I ask, what is the nature of your disability? If you are "disabled" that means, according to the laws on disability, you are not able to work, at least not full-time. So, if that's the case, why are you seeking employment? I am confused as to your status of either being a disabled person (not able to be employed full-time) versus one who is able to hold a job, even if that job involves physical adaptations.
I know a man who was born without arms and legs, who obtained a Masters Degree, worked full-time, was married, and along with his wife, raised two children. He was quite an inspiration.

My health problems are TNTM. I am applying for disability and as of yet not been approved. My lawyer states disabled people are allowed to work if their income is not over $800 per month. If you have any more questions Carmen I'll see if I can answer them.

Hi Colleen!
Thanks for explaining your needs. I find that it helps to formulate a possible plan if more information is provided. (I would have replied to you sooner but I left on vacation right after my last post, and I just returned yesterday.)
I was employed in a job placement and employment counseling field from 1975-1987, and I certainly could have offered much better suggestions during that period of time when I had up-to-date knowledge of the labor market and related current income-earning opportunities. I admit I have not read “help wanted ads” in nearly twenty years so I really don’t know what’s out there in terms of opportunities.
People I know personally who have succeeded in home-based businesses have done so in the following areas: accounting, tax preparation, website design, graphic design and pre-print services, medical transcription, interior design, and fabrication (making custom drapes and window treatments). I also know individuals who have earned the equivalent of “part-time wages” at home doing custom sewing and alterations, pet-sitting, horse boarding, and calligraphy. Because I don’t know anything about your past employment and skills or personal situation, I don’t know if any of these would be possibilities for you.
I would think that since you have a computer, there would be opportunities for earning money using it to perform some needed service. Have you considered contacting a temporary employment agency? Because you are seeking an income of no more than $800 per month for a duration of two years or less, registering with a temp agency might turn up something that you could do at home on a part-time basis.
I hope you find the opportunity you are seeking. Kim's leads sound good!
Best wishes,

Your welcome. I have been in the same boat, you can get rich off of these places, but they are legit and you can make money. Working Solutions is great, but they take forever to get on with, but they are great, they affer a min pay and you can make more than the min, they pay you for your training. I would telly ou more, but do not want to put my cnotract in jeapardy. And Liveops, you make the most money on the weekends. You can easily make 100-200 each weekend. I work with them with inbound, outbound calling and transcription. I do not work with them like I should though.
Let see, more about other places. Workthme agent offers serveral places to work with. When I worked with them I worked Pizza Hut, HSN and Direct Response. ACD, I only worked with them a short term, heling red cross but made 100.0 in 8 hours.
Most of these companies only pay you buy talk time anywhere from .17 to .25 per minute. Wsol offer a min amount hey wil pay you, so you get paid whether you have calls or not. Live ops will offer contests and bonuses alot of the times.
If you ned anything else, just let me know.

Hi Coleen, I don't know what TNTM is but I understand you needing income until you can get your disabailty approved. I don't have any sugguestions for you at this time but was looking into working from home also. I wish you good luck on getting your approval...I know they will fight you all the way but just appeal until you get what you need. Meantime I will join you in the venture for work.

The idea of term paper writting is a good one. I did this when I was in college and I actually made pretty good money. There are those jobs out there that are more suited for "disabled" people. Have you tried to look for employment through your local Goodwill or Salvation Army?

CARMEN> At one time I also tried to apply for disability and was told that I could work part time, not making over a certain amount per month..How is someone suppose to pat bills with no income while waiting on the diabilty board to decide your fate? I almost lost everything waiting on them. Thank God my lawyer put me in touch with a VOCATIONAL REHAB place that helps folks like myself and Colleen find a job! Luckily I was able to take meds to control my health issue and am back on track.
Colleen maybe you can speak to some one at the Unemployment Office or Family and Children Services about a VOCATIONAL REHAB center, maybe check your local phone book! I have been there and done this so I totaly understand your situation and the stress levals! Good luck hun and my prayers are with you! Keep us updated.
