Storing cottage cheese & sour cream

Did you know that storing the containers of cottage cheese and sour cream upside down will keep them fresh for a very long time? We have been doing this for many years at our house :bliss:

I didn't know this. How much longer past it's expiration date does it last? And I wonder why this is?

I buy sour cream and cottage cheese all the time, I love them, Does this work with yogurt as well. HMM. Thanks for the tip.
