There was a place in Wildwood, NJ that made the most awesome blueberry pie. It had a custard bottom with It the fruit in a glaze on the top. I've seen similar at other places and it was never as good.

Banana cream is my other favorite. My grandmother's was awesome. The one I had at a local ski areas cafeteria was a close second...enough so that I told someone someone in the cafeteria kitchen to pass that their pie reminded me so much of my grandmothers. The lady I told had the woman who baked their pies come over so I could tell her personally and she just smiled from ear to ear. I'm sure that ski area cafeterias don't get that kind of feedback often, but all their stuff was homemade and so good.

Take care

Even though I can't eat it anymore due to allergies, Lemon Merengue is my fave :yum: A close second is a hot apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top :yum:

jcme, where is this place in Wildwood?
Any clues, if you don't have the exact name or location?

uLeanAsUgo,

Ever since I posted that it's been driving me crazy what the name of the place was. I could see the building with it's awning on the north side of the street right before the ramp down off the boardwalk. But for the name all I had stuck in my head was Grotto's (a pizza place in Rehoboth, DE and knew it wasn't the Hitching Post, another restuarant we frequented in Wildwood).

Thanks to your post I did some digging on the internet and found the name. Groff's (http://www.groffsrestaurant.com) is at Magnolia and the Boardwalk. Although the pictures of from before my time, I did remember it correctly.

Take care

Pumpkin is my favorite, but lemon meringue is a close second.

That blueberry cream sounds good, blueberry was my grandfather's favorite and I always made it for him on special occasions. One of my favorite memories is going wild blueberry picking with him when I was little.

Now I'm going to have to go make some sort of pie, I'm really craving pie.

Tell me about this "French Silk" thing.

I'm sure that I can google it, but you'll probably tell me about it better.

It is delicious. I guess you could call if kind of like a chocolate pie. It has a rich chocolate center with whipped cream topping topping. On top it has shavings of chocolate. It is a chocolate lovers dream! Very rich.
