Have you ever lost your wallet?

About a month ago we had a major snow storm here and I got my car stuck in a snow drift. After the car had been there for two days we (DH/DS) were able to dig it out.

While digging the car out DS (15) lost his wallet in the snow bank. We went down the next day to look for it, but no luck. We then had to remember what was in his wallet and what needed to be canceled.

He had $50 cash, Barnes and Noble gift card, school ID, Drivers Permit, Conoco gas card, Bank debit/visa card and his military ID card. Our debate was what to cancel and what not to worry about.

Since we knew the wallet was in the snow bank on a country road we decided against canceling items immediately. We did take him down to get a new drivers permit. I had been watching accounts closely to be sure there was no extra activity on the non-canceled cards. Everything was looking good.

Since the snow started melting we have been watching the area closely to find the wallet. We would drive by slowly and some days get out and walk the area. No luck yet.

Today DS and I went down to look again. He took one side of the road and I took the other. I barely walked 10 feet and there it was. Everything in tact, full of gravel, but everything was there.

Timing was perfect for finding his wallet. Next week he starts traveling with the baseball team and will need his debit card for when they stop for meals.

Anyone else been through having to cancel cards because of a lost wallet?

Luckily for us it turned out ok.

That's great you found his wallet intact.

I've had my wallet stolen in Atlantic City. Thankfully it was a long time ago before identity theft was so prevalent.

I was more upset about the pictures I had in it than the cards. They put an alert on my card and finally caught the guy using my major credit card. The thing that got me was that he blatanlty signed the card Frank and mispelled my last name on every receipt.

Before "Frank" got caught with my card, I got a call from the police station about 20 miles outside Atlantic City. They had my wallet. All the store cards, pictures and my driver's license were there.

Take care

Wow. That was cool that you found the wallet.

A few years back I left my purse in a shopping cart. I drove to work then realized what I had done, so I zoomed back to the store. It was only 5 minutes, but my purse was gone. No one from the store saw it.

I went back to work and started cancelling everything. Within 1 hour I got a call from the Police. Apparently an elderly couple found my purse and turned it in the the police.

I felt very lucky to get my purse back intact.

Lost, not since I was a teen. I left my purse at a gas station, and that was that.

Stolen yes. Purse picked by an expert after I put the wallet back in and before I could zip it up again.

Almost admire that kind of skill -- at least it was nonviolent.

I did once around Christmas in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Luckily the person that found it turned it in at the Customer Service desk and everything was still in it. Thank goodness there are still honest people in this world!!!

I lost my wallet once, I was about 10 years old. I remember walking back to the store with mom and they had my wallet behind the counter. Someone had turned it in, with my $10 still in the wallet. I was so grateful.
