Poetry & Songwriting!

I have been writing songs & poetry since I was little & would always daydream that I would become famous one day when my songs would be discovered. :yahooo: Anyone else like to create song lyrics or poetry?

Hi--I have been writing since I was in high school. A few years ago I had one short story copyrighted. I started out writing poetry and songs. I have to admit I haven't written much lately, been a bad long year....

I have written poetry for a long time, although I haven't written any in a while! Probably the last one was for my Father after he passed away. Maybe I will put one or two in a blog some time. I also wrote some lyrics that a friend put music too and has sang at a pub once or twice. Was a weird feeling hearing your words!

Yes, I write songs. Although, I haven't written in a long time, but I use to sing and write songs. Those were the good ol' days. ;) I use to perform for events, coffeehouses, churches, etc.

I also haven't written for a long time, but I know I haven't lost the knack for it. I'm proud to be among other "gifted gals" who understand the beauty of creating through words. I had music added to a song I wrote years ago & recieved music sheets & a record with my name under "lyrics". I just did it for fun & still have it as a souvenir. :angel3:

I am also a poet and Writer & A Fine Artist! My health has been really bad the last few years, so I haven;t had the pleasure of my Arts of late. i entered a poetry contest last year, I was a finalist! That felt pretty good!! Here is the poem I entered!....

A Letter From God

Sleep & Slumber Deep
Relax Your Mind and Body
So Serenity You can Keep
You are not to Be Perfect
I’ll Do the work for you
Just open your mind and listen
Just keep your heart forever true

My words are always kind

Sounds like we could all use some time for ourselves! Everyone has added how they have not written in a long time. I am the same way. I has been several years since I have written a poem. Or even found the time read any, that aren't written by Dr. Seuss anyway! ( :

I write poetry as well. I have had a couple pieces published in anthologys and have placed top 3 in a couple poetry contests although my price money was never more than $150.00. You girls need to get back to writing. From the one poem posted here by Melislite I can see there is tallent in here. I think we all need to simply keep writing because we never know where the next big hit is going to come from. Who knows, the creator of it might be right here in this little thread.

That was an awesome poem. I just wish I could write. I can't I don't have the talent. My mom and brother do and they both can draw....
