Prices are ranging from $3.09 to $3.45. Most of the stations in a specific area are pretty close in price but if you drive to different suburbs, the changes can be pretty drastic.

Wow! nice gas milage luvmaui! I wish they made a vehicle that would pull a horse trailer and haul my kiddos that got at least 30mpg. 53 is a dream!!

I paid $3.11 per gallon on Friday. Driving by another gas station on Friday it was $3.19, than on Saturday it was $3.14. The prices are fluctuating alot. You can drive by a station in the morning, by the afternoon the price could increase as much as 10 cents per gallon! :stomp:

We live north of Chicago, which is one of the highest areas in the country for gas prices. I filled up at $3.59 the other day ( ) and now the cost per gallon is inching up toward $3.70! It's ridiculous. My husband and I have been planning to go to the Tulip Time Festival in Holland, Michigan for a year and it looks like we just can't afford the drive now. :duh: I'm Dutch on my mother's side and was so looking forward to exploring that heritage. Guess I'll have to settle for looking at the tulips in my garden.

I don't even drive daily anymore it is so expensive! It is over $4.00 a gallon in DC. I was traveling last weekend and filled up in NJ and it was almost $80 to fill up my car!
I think that it is cool that some GPS models have the option to see the gas stations around you and their gas prices so you can save a little bit per gallon because I filled up at one gas station last weekend and then passed another that was less expensive another mile down the road. I know that the new TomTom ONE 130S and XL 330S have that option, it is a great idea and very helpful!
I hope the prices drop soon!!

Here in Dayton, Ohio gas is about $3.93 a gallon today June 15, 2008. It was $4.19 a gallon about a week ago. I heard this week it would be at least $6.00 a gallon by labor day. How do they know this so far in advance. The funny thing is it turns out to be true. Hmmmmm!!!!

Washington State $3.39/gal regular.
Diesel nearing $4/gal.

Since my original post n March 16 the price has gone up over $.60/gallon.

In my area the price of regular gas is now around $4.07/gallon. there are some places where you can still find it at $3.99/gal.

I used to be able to fill up my 12 gallon tank for a reasonable price. I now put $50 in to fill it up.

I have never believed that the oil companies "have no control" over gas prices. Remember when Congress was investigating the idea of price gouging in the industry? Just as my husband and I predicted would happen, when the investigation was hot the price for a gallon of gas dramatically dropped...and as soon as the investigation died it shot right back up. Odd how that the market always fluctuates to the lower end of the scale when the oil companies come under the microscope and around high travel holidays, isn't it???

Gas here is starting to drop into the $3.50's. However; yesterday there was a price war on the other side of town. We have two gas stations in town.

They are both at $3.99.

Both are offering promotions to buy gas at their stations.

One is offering a chance at a $50 gas card drawing is either one a week or month, can't remember b/c I don't go to that one.

The other one is working along with local grocery store, with every $10 you spend at the store you get $.01 off a gallon of gas. You can save the coupons they give and get up to $.20 off 12 gallons of gas at a fill up. Needless to say, it's the only grocery store in town, so I have bunches of coupons for gas. I guess that's sort of a good thing about living in a small town.

I did hear on the radio this morning that with Gustav heading for the Gulf that the oil prices were rising again. Geesh, it's not even in the Gulf yet.

Interesting thing I read in the business section of the paper. The major oil companies are selling off their gas stations. The article said that they cannot keep up with the lower priced stations. We are fortunate here in my area of NC, where the prices have dropped from $3.99/gallon for regular, to steady at $3.59 over the past couple of months. Diesel, which used to be so much cheaper than anything, still hovers around $3.99--I have a good friend who has to use diesel, and feel terrible for her--it was way over $4.29 at one point a few months ago!

I had been buying gas at the nearby Hess station and before Hurricane Ike it was selling for $3.39 a gallon. The other stations around here were selling it anywhere from $3.45 to $3.59. The day before Ike hit Texas, some of the stations had already raised their prices, but Hess remained $3.39. The lowest price of the other stations was around $3.67. Monday, Hess was at $3.51, but today has dropped to $3.41.

I don't understand why gasoline that's already in the ground has to go up in price simply because the Hurricane hit Texas. I can see where it could affect future deliveries, but gas already in the ground? There's no need for that.

Yesterday the gas prices around here were $3.99 still. We are still recovering from Hurricane Ike since it came through here a week and a half ago. Hopefully prices will go back down. I know that in other parts of the world they have been paying WAY more than we are used to for a long time, it's not really a big deal to them anymore.

Another question, sort of similarly related, don't answer if you feel uncomfortable, is the minimum wage higher there, are you paid more than we are go the gas price is sort of equivalent to ours?

I paid $2.99 this morning to hold me over until I got to Costco later this week. Change in plans and I ended up at Costco today and paid $2.77.

That was the biggest price difference I had ever seen within a couple miles. Usually Costco is about 5 cents cheaper, sometimes 10, but never this much cheaper.

First time I have filled it for under $40 in quite some time. :hi5: The parking lot was packed, I wasn't going to wait in line, but swung around the lot and found the fuel truck filling the tanks and for some reason no one wanted to squeeze to the pump that was right there in front of him. I motioned to him to see if the pump was working and he nodded yes, so I swung in and backed up a bit. I can't believe that everyone was sitting in line on the other side of the lot and leaving that pump empty. So I got a good deal and didn't have to wait in line. :bliss:

JC,
Gas stations here within 5 miles from each other can differ by as much as 50 cents a gallon! It is crazy. The stations by my office are known to be the highest in the city, but you can drive 5 miles down the road and find the cheapest. I don't get it. :hmm:

Boy, do I envy some of these prices! We are holding steady at around $1.75. Because of our state taxes, we will never see it get much lower. Some people are actually crossing the state line to get gas cheaper. I'm a little too far away to make that practical. So the best I can do is grocery shop and keep earning my $.10 off for every $50. It does add up that way.
