Just wondering if any of you have tried "Botox Injections" & if they really made a big difference in your appearance. Did any of you have an allergic reaction or bad outcome from it? How pricey is it anyways? I know that it lasts about 6 months! :cheerlead

Yes, loved it. Btw. the brows. Lasted longer than they said (3-6 mos). Mine lasted about 9 months. $100 for the injections. Did this at a MD opthamologist, occuloplastic surgeon.

I have seen a lot of men and women (I'm in beauty business) who have done it and the results are amazing. :bliss: And every person said it was worth it and they keep getting the injections when they need them

I did see one person however who had a reaction to the injection. :( Sort of an allergic reaction, very large red, bruise like bumps around the points of injection. It wasn't permanent but she never did it again. It does happen, remember it's botulism poisioning, but it's rare.

I have a number of allergies so this one scares me personally. For now I think I will just live with my wrinkles.

I've heard that the area they inject becomes paralyzed. Is this true & doesn't it feel weird & uncomfortale?

I can vouch for it paralyzing the muscle. My 85 year old mother is in a nursing home as a result of a stroke(s). She had excruciating pain and spascitiy in her legs. The physical therapist recommended botox to paralyze the leg muscle to relieve her pain. It worked.

I've been considering Botox for the forehead area and showme girl, if you got it done for $100 you're lucky! One spa quoted me $200 and another $360!

I don't like needles but I hear they use a superfine type, plus some places use ice or a numbing cream if you want.

I'm still thinking about it. My B.F. is totally against it. One place said many women "hide" the procedure and usually after about an hour you can't tell anything's been done. (no marks from the injections)

I don't know if the amount of Botox that is used for trying to relieve migraines is the same amount of typical usage of Botox, but here's my opinion. IT HURTS!!!
Using Botox to help relieve migraines is a more recent thing and my neurologist said since I was young (28) and not doing it to get rid of wrinkles, it made me a prime candidate. Apparently there's a very high success rate. Well, not for me. I was bawling my eyes out as the doctor did the injections (at my temples, across my forehead, near my eyebrows). It GAVE me a wretched migraine. And it never seemed to help them at all. Maybe I have a low pain tolerance to the Botox or something, but after that I couldn't understand all these celebrities getting it down all the time. But, hey, this is just my 2 cents. :)

I would never do that for cosmetic purposes because of what I have seen my husband go through for his spinal injury... (he was in a very bad car accedent 5 years ago) suffers form severe whiplash, which resulted in a spinal injury, he gets injections about every 3 months and is down for 3 days in severe pain but it is so worth the results.... but it is poisin and it parilises the nevers and the pain centers and because a prerminant nerve block is to risky for where he is injured the results are tempory but really work... but for beauty well I just cant see it ....

Just the fact that it is poison would prevent me from using it. Who knows what the results of years and years of use will do to you? I have decided to age gracefully....I want time for fun, not worrying about my wrinkles and things. I have seen people who have "lost their looks" and became depressed, and I have seen some women age beautifully with doing nothing more than having a facial done at the spa.

Oh, I can chime in on this. I've had it done twice already and am seriously contemplating doing it again. I am going to see if I can find an occuloplastic opthalmologic surgeon (like showme girl) where you got it done for $100!! I paid $425 for 2 areas and thought I was getting a good deal. I have migraines and wrinkles and thought it was a great idea to kill 2 birds with one stone. It worked for me. However, mine has lasted only 3 months each time. I wish it had lasted the 6-9 months but maybe I metabolize it faster than some? I don't know. Anyway, I have told my husband, never mind the jewelry and such, just let me get botox when I want it and I'll be a happy camper. *pinkie*
