Has anyone bought or seen the new brand of car... smart?

It looks like the car that you see in the Wii commercials. I am curious as to why people are attracted to this vehicle. It makes me giggle! It looks funny! :D

Ohhhh, I saw one of these just yesterday and couldn't figure out what kind of a car it was. It was in the parking lot where I work, and it was a tiny little thing. I expected to see a small lady exit the car, but it was actually a man. My only thought when I saw it was that if it had a collision with an SUV the driver woudn't stand a chance. It's cute, but probably not too safe.

P.S. I just read more about this car and it fared well in safety/crash tests. Still, I'd be a bit skeptical of how it stands up to a crash with a larger vehicle (especially if I were in it ;) ).

I've seen a couple on the road and they are sooooo small. I was suprised how well they did in the crash test, but then they pointed out they are rated in their category. So if something bigger hits you, no matter how well they rate you may not stand a chance :-(

I my area, most of the cars on the road are huge and people drive so agressively....not to mention in the winter everyone thinks they are invincible no matter what the weather. Personally, I would never feel comfortable in car that small unless I did mostly slower paced city driving.

So they are finally selling these in the US! They are so cute. I wanted to bring one home with me, but they were too big to fit in my suitcase :D

When we were in Germany 5 years ago, these Smart Cars along with the Mini Cooper were the most popular cars on the road. Granted, they wouldn't do well against an SUV, but the mpg's have to be great.
