Starting a business takes time. You should look on line and go to the SBA website they have lots of free info on starting a business.
If you are going to need cash to start up there are grants you can get. But to get a grant you are going to need to develop a business plan.
I just started my own buisness this year. I set up an LLC. I used an accountant to help make sure I got all of the filings right. I asked around and looked into a women in business club and asked who they used as an accountant.
I have some money put aside and the timing was right so I have just jumped in. Here's to hoping that I get all of my ducks in a row. I am working on the written business plan.
The start up costs include the accounting software, computer, printer, fax and on and on! Take a moment and start a list on what you will need to start up.
I am extremely lucky in that I have an established client base that was willing to follow me.
But my own personal nightmare is going to be the marketing.

There is a great series of books (I'm a book junkie) called "Start and Run..." by Self-Counsel Press. I'm not sure if they'd have something in nursing or healthcare but I do know they have books out on how to "Start and Run" an events planning business, desktop publishing business, creative services, catering, copywriting, crafts, gift basket, handyman, landscaping and others. It's a great series, the books should be easily found through your library, local bookseller or online e-tailer and are reasonably priced compared to similar books.
I'm hooked on them.
